the FSS, watching paint dry....

It'll never be rolled back - there are enough people who love it that it makes no sense to do away with it entirely.
I'm hopeful, however, that within 6 months we'll get some ADS-style functionality back alongside the FSS.

In 6 months ill be playing something else. What sad wimper for ED to go out on.

Edit: if im totally honest. If i needed HD space right now, there is a fair chance it would be ED that got deleted

I wonder how the few people upset at the FSS would have felt if the last few years everyone else would have spammed the exploration board with "OMG the godhonk and pointing at planets is so boring. Absolute turd sandwhich. terrible stuff. OMG OMG OMG. I am going to quite the game, so terrible is it!"

I guess they would eventually have said:"Hey, if that is your opinion, feel free to play something else or just make a single suggestion and stop making the same topic about it. Just add your opinion to the one that exists, spamming helps nobody."

I'm pretty sure most people didn't cheer the old exploration system and were expecting an update, it's just that this update killed a type of exploration gameplay.

I sat and waited months for it instead of going out exploring. It was going to be the explorers expansion. It was gonna be great...

Yaw, pitch, tune axes. Zoom in/out buttons. What am I missing?

Activate Analysis mode
enter FSS
honk (can be same as FSS)
exit FSS (can be same as enter FSS)

optional:
stepped zoom in
stepped zoom out

To be honest, the biggest "challenge" - in my opinion - isn't the amount of buttons to set as it is done once, it's finding where to set what function in the rather convoluted keybinding menu of Elite Dangerous. (Yes, even that is quite manageable and only required once and therefore not really a big problem, more along the lines of a mild annoyance.)

I like the general concept of AI crew doing stuff, but your implementation doesn't address the all the issues I have with the FSS.

1. Piloting is secondary to scanning in the exploration process, especially with your elite crew concept which would make the whole process completely passive
2. The FSS provides too much information
3. Probing is still the only reason to move around the system, and automating that leads to even more passivity

I get where you're coming from, but for me that would make things even worse than the current FSS.

Sorry for calling you good people psycho-whiney. Moving house, prepping x-mas, working full time, and awaiting surgery for a brutal hernia.
Stressed and in pain. I only want to fly my spaceship in peace :(

Had a hernia op myself a couple of years back. You are immediately and comprehensively forgiven.

(And rep'd for having the rare good grace to admit fault - sadly an internet rarity.)

I genuinely don't think you need to worry. I'm going to end my involvement in this thread (only because I'm getting repetitive enough to bore myself, not because I think anything I say is the Last Word), by making a simple bet.

If FSS hasn't been rolled back to Basic ADS Honk within six months, I will, quite metaphorically, eat my hat. If it hasn't, then by all means any of you here on this forum may feel free to metaphorically eat your own hats - though of course it's not for me to tell you what to do.

But I genuinely think your hats are quite safe. Even metaphorically speaking.

Well I genuinely do worry. But if you're going to leave a thread, then that is entirely the sort of post with which to do it.

More involved markets.
Warning this is fake news feature

Now when you dock at a station you will be greeted with a list of brokers for each commodity. You can search the list and find the best deals.. like buying units from two or more different brokers, maybe more profitable than buying the same amount from just one broker.

- When you have found a broker you like the looks of, just click on the screen to bring up a negotiation page.
- You will have 3 attempts to settle on a price or be offered their default as listed on the main page +10% for wasting their time.

We hope this will add immersion and flexibility as you work on your personal narrative, allowing player to get the most out of freelance trading.

-Casual player and small traders: wow, this is so cool.

-Big haul traders: can I just buy it the old way , and have the option to use brokers

Nice strawman. Be careful as straw is easily flammable tho.

I think you are confusing a strawman argument with an analogy.

Nah, that was the textbook definition of straw man:

straw man
noun
noun: strawman
1.
an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
"her familiar procedure of creating a straw man by exaggerating their approach"

You literally setup a whole different and unrelated position from the original argument and presented as if "analogy".
Very intellectually dishonest [haha]

I think you are confusing the concepts of 'try to mislead' and 'help to understand'.
