Elite on the cheap (flight control edition)

I've got the logitech joystick and am on the beta. the logitech works fine. The throttle is small but it works well enough for me. no centre detente so I have it set as forward only and I press a button and use the throttle for reverse. that seems to work well as I rarely reverse.

I'm no combat jock, just a trader but for me, it'll do for now.

T16000M stick is better than x55 stick :)

so if you want very good stick then i can recommend that, as for hotas then they all are usable so just check what's in your price category, but keep in mind that not all sticks have twitch and sticks without twitch is a deal breaker for me in space game (6 degrees of freedom need to be accessed easily) :)

i was going to settle for the Logitech extreme 3d pro($31). but then i went on ebay and got a used Saitek x45 h.o.t.a.s. for the same price

Ok just got the game and trying to sue KB & M I have a PS3 controller can you use that and some where I have an old joystick.

I noticed in KB&M that it is inverted to use.

Any help here guys as I sux when using the KB&M

A few users have that 'stick (myself included, but I ain't in the game yet), and they like it.

Hi
I have the Logitec Extream 3D pro also

The £30ish T-Flight Hotas X is the best budget buy.

Or you may already have a gamepad that will work if you have an xbox or ps3 controller in the house.

+1

I purchased it when I purchased Elite, so I've never tried anything else (apart from Mouse+Keyboard just to see how that fares). I must say for that price it's an absolute steal! It has "only" 12 buttons, but since ED custom controls allow you to use button combinations, you can dedicate one of the buttons to be a "Shift" button and then you end up with 22 buttons in total, which is more than enough for ED.

The precision is great, you can set the resistance mechanically (screw) and also adjust deadzones in the control settings.

Again, for that price it's a total bargain!

The T Flight HOTAS X is the best $50.00 I've spent in a long time

I have the throttle on the left side of my keyboard and the stick on the right. If you want to take your keyboard completely out of the picture you'll need one with more buttons, but this is perfect for me.

After doing my research, I settled on the T16000m personally, as I'm a lefty, and it has the most buttons to assign, combined with the fact its not mechanical should mean it has some lengevity.

Also, I noticed that although its advertised lots of places, not many have stock, or are on back order, and one place had it as discontinued.

So, I hedged my bets and bought one now, for slightly more than the very cheapest, but they had stock (allegedly!), on the basis I may not be able to find one when i do want it, and demand for them is only going to go UP as more lefties decide they want 'in' on Elite: Dangerous....

edit: just this second had notification its been shipped from Germany! :)
that was via Amazon, from a retailer called Avides if you're interested, they listed about 3 on stock at the time I placed my order.

Mint stick.
I got one because I didn't know if I'd even like playing with an analogue stick.
Didn't want to re-mortgage my house on something I might not even like, so I went for the T-Flight for cheap and cheerfulness.

As it happens I love it, and I am glad I made this purchase.

The only negative to it recently is that as I've got better at ED and now have an OR I feel there isn't enough buttons or scroll wheels for my personal liking.
Voice Attack is helping me bridge this gap though.

I would highly recommend the T-Flight Hotas X.

This probably goes against the norm....
I've owned 3 logitech sticks, broke them all.
2 ch sticks, broke them both.
1 thrust master stick, it died too.

Saitek Cyborg evo 3d or something.... Well.... It's still going strong. In fact, I wish it would die so I could justify a new stick.

Did the exact same thing. Turned out to be a good buy. If it breaks I'll invest in something more expensive.

What!? I had no idea the pieces separated, why the duck wouldn't they advertise that? Every pic I've ever seen of the thrustmaster has been in one piece. Oh well at least I'm still getting a hotas

I've got the wireless version of this joystick and it is great. Get voice attack and you don't need most of the buttons (I only use 3) or the throttle.

Gotta agree, this stick is really good for what you get. Lots of buttons, hat switch and feels very good.

"Is it worth a buy guys!" (In Mac voice).. Yes it is..

Its very responsive and great for small movements. Only problem with the wireless version is it goes to sleep if you leave it for a while, such as when I'm docked, so I have to remember to press one of its buttons before taking off!

It's 35 USD for the logitech compared to 65 USD for the trustmaster ... LOGITECH is cheaper dude!

Yes am using it, it's pretty good for the price. Some review say it could last up to 3 years , I guess it all depends on how you use it and how often you play.

having a real hard time setting mine up. How did you deal with the .exe file in the profiler??:S
