I don't care. The DualShock 4 with attached keypad or the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4 with USB mini-keyboard works fine for me even with the update. On the PC I only use the keyboard for accessing the options page, entering system names in the galaxy map, and comm texting. The PS4 has an option button and keyboard texting works in Elite Dangerous the last time I checked.
Not sure what you mean by 'attached keypad', I have the clip on 'message pad' for the DS4 but you can only use that wherever text input is required. It can't be used to map control bindings to.
As for Sony vs Frontier, it's nothing to do with Sony, it's ALL Frontier. I have Project Cars 1 & 2 and have a full keyboard mapping for all controls other than actual driving, these include moving the drivers seat, altering brake bias, lights, anti-roll bar setting plus loads more. These work flawless in game, when driving. It's an absolute joy. War Thunder is also fully compatible with keyboard and, I think, mouse.
Frontiers argument of fairness is stupid. They allow DS4 and HOTAS 4, two different control systems with which the HOTAS 4 obviously has a flight advantage (not sure if both control systems can be used at the same time).
The amount of controls available with the game out number the available combinations with a DS4. Even if the control bindings are defaulted, there are a load of controls that are blank. It's getting ridiculous. I'd say the only reason they don't allow keyboard control is because of laziness. Near enough every PS4 player is screaming out for keyboard control but we're constantly ignored, isn't the aim to keep people playing? Not listening to players will only harm Frontier as players stop playing because it's too frustrating.
