the FSS, watching paint dry....

Or, an alternative explanation: you havent understood my point (could be I explained it poorly).

Writting in proper fashion is the first thing to make yourself understood.

As for the ad-hominem: my 'most difficult' trip was +-15.000 LY directly south, so away from Colonia. That put the location cursor 'off the map', and it was a bit like mountaineering. I found and marked systems as 'camps' when they had all mats needed for synthesis. I'd then try a route, and if I got stuck without being able to 'climb further' I head back to the nearest camp, find more mats and try a different route. It was actually quite fun.

15,000 Ly is not too far, it's at most 4 hours away, curiously you just mentioned one type of gameplay not available in the bubble (or +-1500 from it).

But my point is that I had to make that fun myself. I knew FD put absolutely nothing there. There wasn't a reasonable RP reason behind being there either. I wasn't being awarded for it, there were no missions asking me to go there, nothing. And that is in sharp contrast with 'short-range exploration', where you find all kinds of stuff and are rewarded in numerous ways, while being more diverse and rewarding gameplay to boot.

That's not what you were arguing, I would like to have more things to investigate beyond the bubble, however, that still doesn't mean that there's no reason to leave the bubble, as you commented, you had to do injected jumps to get somewhere, that's something you cannot do inside the bubble unless you are a masochist that uses a 4 Ly ship not to mention that you can see the whole milky way from that part of the galaxy. As Spongebob would say:

iu

Use it.

Btw, I didn't adress just one, I adressed the first four of Ziggy's examples and stopped when his next example was an identical station with identical services, but in a different location.

I re-read your reply, you only addressed the "small-big black hole" part, BTW Jaques sells a rare good so that's unique.

If that makes it to Ziggy's list of awesome finds after years and 1.3b income in explo scans it kinda supports my point: FD hasnt invested a lot in deep-space exploration, and that becomes even more obvious when you compare it with their efforts in a +-1500LY radius around the bubble.

There're so many POIs in this map that'll most likely lag, nuff said.

This topic has become a personal thing. I spend a fair bit of time working out a proposal that would fix a lot of issues for many. It got seven responses, only two from people who post in this topic a fair bit (Zadian and Drew). The rest here simply isn't interested in discussing anything constructively, but is just attacking of anything vaguely perceived as 'pro FSS'. Its being argumentative for the sake of it.

Post the link here, I promise I'll go there and read it, in case you want to know what kind of update I hope for, I just want the ADS to come back, no new content, no more dev time wasted, simple and easy.

even something as obvious as 'FD spend a lot of time on stuff to find near the bubble, and the FSS works for doing just that'

The FSS is definetly not just for that, without the FSS it's virtually impossible to reveal a system payout in any part of the galaxy, such fact is even more apparent since it substituted the ADS (which definetly didn't serve the purpose you mention).

Forum user's aren't entirely conducive to design a game either. :p

Honestly? If there was a court case about gaming they could call me as an expert witness. I could tell them exactly how to fix this game up so everbody would be like "omg thats so cool" I have all these good ideas while im playing, but nobody is listening to me so im not even gonna bother typing it all out.

People like different things. What you may think is cool, others may not. I could say the same and so could everyone else on the forums. We will likely be wrong though.

No Mans Sky. Bought it, refunded it. Bought it again, refund is pending. I blame fdev for this.

NMS really is a totally different genre of game. It has spaceships in it, that's kind of the same, but the similarities stop pretty much right after that.

It looks too much like Space Minecraft for me to bother with, as I already played the bejeebers outten Minecraft for years, and then got Starbound and still play that even now. I don't need another in the same vein.

People think they know what they want. Then they get it, play it for a bit, get bored and wonder off. What the game needs is not necessarily the same as what the forum gamers are asking for.

Then you fly them.... uh oh!

You can have ships.

You can have legs.

Choose which one gets done right.

The ‘frequency’ rubbish is just well rubbish. Why, if we must have this minigame hoist upon us, cant out beloved fss just scan all the damn frequencies? Cos twiding that ‘’ is not gameplay, FD.LOL

As far as gamified mechanics go, the FSS is certainly a step up from point-and-honk.
The problem is that anyone who really cares about exploration isn't necessarily interested in shallow gamified mechanics in the first place. It'd be much more interesting if exploration involved a modicum of actual science.

Someone must still be looking for Amelia Earhart with a coffee-grinder, loop antenna ADF.... :(
