the FSS, watching paint dry....

Here, let me make you all happy by complaining about the FSS.

The "radar ping" effect, where the "blue blobs" show up when scanned and then fade away, is based on antiquated 1940s radar. This original "effect" was due to an analog radar system drawing on a slow-phosphor cathode ray tube, thus the "fading away". Modern digital radar stores contacts in a buffer, so you don't get this "fading" effect, haven't for many years in fact.

It's annoying from a gameplay perspective because it's easy to miss a planet when the "blue blob" is faded and we're scrolling fast.

Funny how much of ED seems to be based on 1940s technology...

Can I haz ur stuff?

I'm just looking for the ADS to go back into the game, there was no need to remove it in the first place & it would solve most of the issues people are having with the new stuff.

Nope, I'm here from the future to tell you our brilliant space radars are completely different, you just *think* it looks like your olde-world cathode ray tube, see.

Can I assume that it's just a textblock that you meanwhile drop every 30 minutes? Are you really that concerned about your case being unheard so that you feel the need to make a fool of yourself? I assure you this fears are unfounded as meanwhile even the pope knows that you would like to have the ADS back and until that happens nobody, not even the pope, can bring back our piece of mind. :)

I wish the Pope knew about Elephant Butt Leather...

Looks like I have a fan club.

The only thing being tested in this thread is my patience....

Thankfully I don't need to win this argument. So play your word games, I don't care, because I've got a newly-discovered Ammonia World to go map with these wonderful exploration tools.
The only word games I've witness are ones like using needless sweeping statement such as - "choir members", "preaching", "amen", "I don't agree with anything you've written"...

I'm glad you enjoy the new mechanics... But like I said, I'm very much on the fence with them, but they've not won and wowed me over yet. If you can't accept this fair enough... BUT the fact you can't even accept the FSS could be improved by being able to even just view the system map, let alone be able to Supercruise while doing it, just seems ultra defensive IMHO. Hence me pointing it out!

Or maybe just daft enough for not seeing that it's just one single person (and a few follower) that try to pretend being a huge majority? What is it? [where is it]

It's rather apparent by your posts frequency across all related topics that you and Old Duck are trying to pass as a huge majority in this matter, but calling yourselves daft is a bit too harsh.

Dont forget the great explorer Hicks and his drive by snipes at people for not loving the minigame.

Anyone else noticed how the discovery of biological POIs is nearly instant while geological ones can take up to 30 seconds to finish?

Given that I generally look at the “volcanism” field of the planet description, I haven’t. That does explain why I got surprised by biological POIs in the Beta. Still haven’t encountered any in the live build.

I think we will get a dev response. Some random dude on steam got one to his negative review and it wasnt even a good review. Just one dude apparently totally at random lol

Infact looking again the spelling is so bad its suspicious. But then again everything is suspicious to me :D

Careful, or you'll make it sound like I'm opposed the having the system map callable from the FSS, which I'm not. Until this recent post, I never even gave it any thought. The FSS is my system map when I'm using it - it gives me orbit lines, planet types, distances, positions, everything I need to know about the system. It even lets me select a planet to fly to. The only thing it doesn't give me, which I believe is a bug, is whether a planet is terraformable or not.

Do you people even know how to use the FSS?

^^^ This

I generally avoid the system map in general, especially for navigation, relying on the Nav Panel instead. Selecting bodies in FSS is also something I do, especially with terraforming candidates.

The system map definitely needs some QOL love and attention. It probably works great in 2D with a mouse, but it’s downright painful to use with HOTAS in VR IMO.

I don't think I've scanned a planet (in the FSS scanner screen) that had only life POIs yet. I have seen a high degree of variability on how long the POI count takes to resolve, sometimes it's near instant, sometimes it take a couple of seconds. I'm not convinced it's a canned wait time like the old DSS scanning was.
