Game freezing spontaneously from anywhere upto 20 seconds at a time?

Hello
The problem does not come from you, your computers, or your connection.

the problem comes directly from the server.
I play elite at a friend's house. the freeze game still at the same time on both computers.

This is awesome. A little more effort and ED players will fix the issue.)

Interesting... I still blame the client code (the actual game), since a game should not freeze just because packets get held up in the pipeline. It's as if there's networking code in the main run loop that should be in a background thread instead.

I had that one day w/o a freeze - must have been a short session. Now I always get about one freeze an hour, mostly 20 seconds, but occasionally a lot shorter. At least it's not causing a ship destruction or getting a bounty ...

sometimes the freeze is shifted by 1 or 2 seconds between the two computers.
but when one of the two freeze the second freeze also within 2 seconds.

sorry for my bad english.

Hi folks,

Have passed on this issue to our team. It'll be investigated and fixed sometime after the new year.

We are sorry the software you purchased a license to use at will is currently unfit for purpose. Please wait a week, and we will START working on the issue.

Really? In what other industry is this ok? I'm trying to imagine this response to Patient registration systems downtime at my job. Airport/hotel reservation systems. Even PoS kiosks at a local grocer.

With due respect, this is an insulting, condescending response. Your players deserve better than this.

Have to agree, this is pretty low FD.

No one is forcing anyone to wait. I've moved onto other games until it is fixed.

From pubs & call centers to I.T., logistics & glass manufactures. I've worked in many. They're all pretty much the same when it's holiday time.

I'm trying to imagine this response to Patient registration systems downtime at my job.

My wife has worked in the NHS for 15 years and when it's holiday time, whatever is outstanding waits until she is next in. Pretty standard.

We deserve nuthin Jon Snow

What exactly do you expect, a crack team to be on 24 hour standby to fix a problem which is affecting some users of a computer game.

I get that it sucks if you can't play but get a grip on reality. Especially when you start conflating it with a patient registration system, exactly whose life or health is at risk here? Clown.

You might question the wisdom of dropping an update right before one of the peak holiday periods but that's it. Workers have a statutory right to paid leave in the UK, their staff are taking it. Deal with it.

I would also point out that unless things have changed since last year, FDev's support team actually work 365 days a year. I e-mailed them about something on Christmas day last year and got a reply early on Boxing day.

A release after the holidays would be reasonable.

Dude are you kidding?
One its the holidays,
Two no life is in danger,
Three Its the weekend and he responded to the issue which is more than enough atm.
Four What kind of person compares real life issues to a video game?

If software isn't working for patients that is potential LIVES on the line... *( Note, elite dangerous is a video game just in case you didn't know )*
You are comparing Emergency systems to a Video game.

the only condescending post is yours.
Players deserve to have a functioning game.. Funny how i have been able to play it with basically no issue.. must be you.

Elite isn't a life-and-death situation. It's a game.

That's great but hopefully they are already aware - the first bug report I can find for this specific issue was raised 13 Dec.

I'm sure QA is very aware. This is happening regularly to everyone across all platforms since 3.3, so it would be inconceivable to NOT be aware of it.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
