the FSS, watching paint dry....

And don't worry, as soon as I can kick my son off the Xbox I'll be back to ED exploring away.

LOL, my wife kicked me off the PS4 so she could play Dragon Quest Builders. I've been having a blast with my shieldless exploration Type-7, which seems cooler after the update (the new lighting makes it feel bigger). If you're going to be living in space, might as well live in a flying house!

Crying in here is more fun than using the FSS for me. Its not mine.. you have no idea whats going to be done and at the end of the day i paid for the old way. I dont know what else to say but if the endless debate upsets you then dont read it. This is a thread for sour old moaners. Cant imagine why anybody would even want to post in here :D

I paid for the old way as well. I also paid for the promise that things where going to change and content added etc, so I don't get your point. But I got those for free, so I can't complain, bargain.

Got to go. Found a system with 80 bodies, got to FSS the ship out of it. Have fun :p o7

Only read a bit about this FSS thing. I hate It. I have mapped it out used it extensively now and can say I HATE IT.

Let me explain, I is an Old Git. I have problems with wrist movement. Old R.S.I. This new FSS makes it far worse. I would like to make it less of a grind to use. If I use it with the Joystick it is too slow to scroll around the screen. I use the Throttle to use the tuning and that seems too sensitive. If the mouse is used to do some of these functions it makes the Wrist really play up.

So what is the answer? Constructive comments please no Flames. I have to say I like the concept, just HATE the way it is implemented.

I think Frontier have a problem in trying to enhance the game Scanner into a meaningful, useful all-round tool.

, so I don't get your point

Yes you do, you just dont like it.

You would rather people that dont like the FSS just went away, gave up on their investment and just accept they got cheated. Thought you bought something, you didnt tough luck. Thats not right, people dont deserve to get treated that way.

The game will be worked on in the future and new content will be added and things may change. Not sure what part of that you can't understand?

It's ironic that it's a forum and discussion forum and people are discussing in the forum. Really? Are people not able to understand that? Jeez.

This !
FSS lovers are just ADS haters.
Hate and you will be hated !

Yep exactly. Read though the positive comments 95% of them reference the old system as the primary reason they like the new system.

It’s frusturating to read.

Look to be fair those people have kinda gone away now, so I’m guessing even white knights should be allowed the chance to actually use the fss over defending it on forums. It’s repeated use that shows it for what it is.

Funny how certain explorer CMDRS find the FSS mini game boring and repetative, yet are happy to explore and land on the same boring and repetative planets.
Seen one dust ball seen them all.

Double standards.

The old way required no skill either. Press button, done. It isn't supposed to be a skill. Plus looking at the system map isn't a skill either. The Orrery is however a much more accurate tool.

Whether anyone "likes" it or not. It's here and we will get used to it. Don't like it? Don't use it. It isn't going anywhere.

People have cried out for something new when it comes to exploration, and the FSS along with the space phenomenon, probes Codex etc. It's a breath of fresh air. It's here, deal with it.

A breath of fresh air lol. Do you also hear some classical music when you are using the fss dear?

I think any dedicated explorer should have a dedicated npc systems operator to refine the signal and keep me company on those long, lonely trips.

Well yea. Alot of people hated the old system. Honk, scoop, jump.... repeat. The old systems repeated itself over and over. That showed exactly what it was. Goes both ways.

Also new system actually allows for some level of skill though some seem to want to deny that fact. After a bit of practice one begins to get more efficient at looking for what it is they want to find. It’s not mindless at all. I’m quite happy with it.

I see that emotions are still running hot on this topic. I've yet to actually even fire up the game and try the new patch, but I must say that the changes sound good on paper. Exploration was always tedious and unrewarding so any change is movement in the right direction.

Pretty much:

Firstly, thanks kudos to Sleut for taking the time and effort to design alterations to a system he's perfectly happy with. I knew there was a reason he wasn't on my block list ;)
Secondly, I like the ideas presented here.

In fact, the only person NOT considering the viewpoints of others is YOU.

It is always a bit weird to see topics like this. People lose perspective in a way that would defy belief if one wasnt familiar with sci-fi forums. :)

I called mine "Scilab", it gives this repurposed flying container feeling. If we could build temporary bases with multiple T7-blocks on planet surfaces...

Unfortunately it is an single-seater and there is no SRV-multicrew.

It seems to me that the "mapped by" tag doesn't get the attention it deserves, being at best equal to the old "scanned by"-tag and at worst subordinated to that (on the system map).

Lol, you got me there.
Now I know why you changed your forum name.

That said, your comment about people not discussing alternatives was a pile of garbage, given that we were doing exactly that on the previous page. So, I'm sure you'll agree that perspective is slipping on both sides. We'll have to see whether FDev bother to comment before the thread degenerates into a slanging match and gets closed.

Incidentally, care to comment on my submodules suggestion?

I think perspective left the building about a hundred pages ago on every conceivable side. :) As for your suggestion, I think it slipped by. I'm off for the night, but if you can quote yourself I'll get back to it tomorrow. As for FD commenting, based on previous cases I wouldn't expect much before, say, March or April. :p
