Btw Elite Dangerous Horizons Season pass is £4.79 ATM, that is all. If he cant pay that much for an expansion then maybe he needs a slightly better paid job. Other companies charge way more than that for just 1 DLC and this one is 4 lots...yes four lots for a measly sum of money.

Such arrogance.

I agree with the OP. If a large enough portion of the content from the base game has become, or is soon to become unplayable without RNGineers or other features from the expansion, then they should just stop selling the base game. Promising the sun and stars to a new player, only to confront them with a "oh wait you need Horizons for that" later on, starts to smell a lot like false advertisement.

This isn't about upgrading players for free, this is about not selling half-a-game to unwary customers in the first place. It will only hurt the game and the company in the long run.

I think this will happen, it's common in many other games.

Still Frontier may just go their own way and leave it like it is.

It is a future space game and what will we do with an influx of non-engineered space cavemen who will just complain about the unfairness of it all; as they drive their new SRV's.

I love you guys you make a fun game (abiet buggy now D: )but this last ditch cash grab is bad. Just drop the 30 dollar one and just sell elite for 50-60 bucks USD or maybe just 45 bucks... I have bought the horizons pass for so many commanders over the year just so they can enjoy elite to the fullest..

Just Sell Elite with horizons. For the advertised price.

I payed 60bucks for this game (best god dam 60 bucks i ever spent) and I have bought (with my own money) horizons for several cmdrs so they could play elite.. all of elite. I love this game that much. Please don't think i want them to give away stuff for free. Just saying its time to drop the "base game" and sell to all new CMDRS Horizons so they can play all of FDEVS hard work.

I understand your opinion - I bought a second Account as an Christmas Present for a Friend = ED+Horizons for 12 Euros.

It´s is not okay that some content is unavialable or unplayable for the Basegameusers but wait till they release news about the future of ED, if they make good Content, just give them on the next sale 12 Euros and you can access all the things.

Maybe Frontier will be forced to merge for simplification and convenience reasons for the future updates.

The problem for non-horizons players is that FDev are always going to make the business decision to support those who purchase expansions, ship kits, paint jobs etc. over those that don't.

Is it fair that the base game is borderline unplayable by itself? No

Is it good business sense for a company that needs to make a profit operate to ensure that customers who pay more are prioritised with new content? Yes and that will concern any games developer more than fairness.

Obviously they feel they can make more profit by keeping horizons separate to the base game at this stage.

This wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue if engineering had some semblance of balance. If engineering gave a small, like, 10% overall increases in power TOTAL and was instead more focused on specialization / customization / tweaking (you know, like it should have been), then NPCs wouldn't need to have their health cranked up so much and FDev could FAR more easily balance combat for ALL players. One of the many major drawbacks of the current "just make the ship hundreds of percent objectively better" version of engineering we have now.

I have horizons don't as yet have any engineered component and its doesn look straight forward either. Wandering in CZ alone appears inadvisable on any levl the mo. What about call of duty or Total war or EA games they heavily require to pay for extra dlc etc . There should be different types of CZ with various reward for each.

What about CQC does any one still play?

Does apple feel the need to lower prices to make there product more affordable?

The game is called Elite. There are now mission reserved only for Elite.

There has to be a reason to get the dlc although official there is no 'pay 2 win' model or as Chris Roberts says . Pay to be lazy.

All i know, is im not going to the pub with anyone that hasnt already bought horizons and wants it for free... good luck getting them to buy a round.
