Future of Elite+Paid For Content

Except it was a broken promise (for want of a better word).. Because there were no caveats given with regard to those features/content..
It's all academic by now anyway.. The point I was trying to make is I can see why some people would be a little more cautious when it comes to future announcements.

FDEV seem to be more cautios when it comes to future announements as well, which is a shame because I'd like to know their plans. I blame sollisb (and T.j.) for that.

Seriously!? You consider "I can assure you" as a changing plan. I consider you a senior player, and fans Fdev, but this is going beyond a joke

No, I consider what happened after they assured us a changing plan, what you suggest doesn't make any sense.

I think FD make announcements when they feel it is necessary for whatever reasons they feel necessary.. I don't think "blame" comes into it tbh.

"3.4" hasn't been stated by FDev. Do you mean 3.3?

The servers and missions are working fine for me (and many others, 11k Steam CMDRs playing now), although at least one of the mission templates may need tweaking.

It is unfortunate that a number of users are affected, and that their issues weren't resolved in 3.3.01 (released 19th Dec; 8 days after 3.3 went live), but it's good that a patch is coming soon which will hopefully resolve the remaining connectivity problems.

Yes to 3.3, so many numbers..

The servers are working but not working correctly. Are you telling me you have not had one disconnect? It got so bad for me (2 miles from the servers) I just gave up.

Mission templates need tweaking? Kill X, find X, X disappears. Kill 20 Y, find location, jump in, 8 spawn and 5 jump out immediately. Kill 20 Z, find multiple mission locations all of which contain that faction ships and show as mission target, but fail to register as a valid kill for the mission, even tho the bounty is paid. And that's just a start. Shall we talk about Delivery missions?

Oh it's great a patch is coming 'soon'. Will it fix it this time? Or maybe we'll need another patch? or another? Just remember how long it took to fix the servers after Horizon botch job.

It is unfortunate that a huge! number of users were affected. I agree! But par for the course.

I myself was on-call over the entire Christmas holiday (luckily I wasn't called out) but that's how professional companies do business. Unlike some say, not so professional ones...

I couldn't give a rats bottom what you blame me for. You're a nobody on the internet (just like me).

But as an aside, can you produce any evidence, whatsoever, to back your blame on me that FDev are more Cautious? Nope, didn't think so. All mouth and no facts.

Actually FDEV said it themselves, I am not going to search that quote for some nobody on the internet though.

I always thought server disconnects were par for the course when playing elite. I don't think I've ever had a play session without a disconnect.

My personal favourite disconnects was a being disconnected twice while scooping a neutron and losing my ship. Both times while travelling to Sag A.

So peoples complaints made them keep upcoming changes secret? And nobody could see this causing any problems?

It's die if they do, die if they don't.

If they keep quiet about what they're working on then speculation will run rampant and expectations that people have will never be met thus you'll have a forum/reddit full of concern threads, open letters, polls, protests, I quit threads and general shilling or negativity.

If they do give advance notice of what they're working on then the same as above will happen.

I find your hyperbole (and salt) entertaining at least :)

FDev have had staff working throughout the Xmas holidays, like the professional company they are:

We’ll still have developers, customer support representatives and community managers (that’s us!) around in the office (aside from the UK public holidays), so please don’t hesitate to get in touch as usual on the forums, or social media channels during the holiday break.

I personally close my professional company during the Xmas break and give myself much deserved time off; those are the benefits of not running a 24/7 service I guess :D

This.

Salty whiners will always be salty whiners, unfortunately. You can't please everyone [haha]

I'm pretty sure you cannot find one post where FDev stated that the reason for them being Cautious was 'Sollisb'.

You'll also notice that at no point have I targeted you as a person. I have attacked your shill posts and unwavering fanboi approach. I'm sure there's a forum guideline on it. You should read it. I won't report you, not my style, but you never know, someday you'll try that with someone else. Just looking out for you brother :)

You are correct to a degree but they get paid for this. I could stomach an almost unlimited amount of internet salt if somebody was giving me money.

This PC im on now, i wont say it was only and specifically for elite.. but really i built this to play elite on. I built it so i could take pictures and contribute to the zeitgesit (yeah sorry about that word :) ) of the game. Im gutted. I feel shafted by the new changes. They should have broadcast what was coming much more imo.

Agree. I wonder what people actually doing the work to get the update completed thought about this 'assurance'. Wouldn't be first time someone's made a claim they couldn't back up. Reality changes plans.

While I agree with the rest of the rest of your post here, I imagine you are paid fairly well for this responsibility. That or you're doing something that you knew up front would require this on occasion. I wonder if the same could be said for the poor code monkeys who actually have to sort this out.

I really don't need someone to look out for me. But thanks.

Yes, I get paid very very well and extra for being on call.

Someone made a decision to release and not support, and I'm pretty sure it was [edit] not one of the coders.
