Buggiest update ever

New stuff is always buggy. Avoid a new release for a few weeks if it bothers you.

Also Beyond was free nobody paid for it.
Lol with this game you pay before hand with a hope that something is delivered that has value. Its like an early access game in that regard!

That's a good analogy and just like in real life, the drink is not free, it just comes included.

In real life if you pedantically argue the nature of the free drink the serving staff spit in your food.

Speak for yourself. I read up on it and played the demo before buying in, I've really enjoyed all the content so far buying in early each time and I'll be buying the next lot as well. Early if I can.

Best game I ever played by a long margin and extremely stable with only minor bugs.

I don't eat fast food & the staff aren't the ones who put the marketing up there in the signs so I wouldn't complain with them, not that I care that much about it.

You always get some minor bugs in new releases. Even during holidays.

Um. Most companies delay these sort of things and reschedule when all hands are on deck to fix things when they go south. You cant possibly defend that kind of screwup from a multi million pound company. Its amateurish. Even worse if they havent learned from past experience.

My neck would be on the chopping block if i released a buggy update for the companies website a few days before christmas and then left for two weeks and customers and investors kept getting database errors and 404's and just said to myself "meh, christmas"

No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to reason with Stigbob. I would like to believe he is trolling, I really would.

Its not really right to bash other people because depending on a few factors there will be very valid different points of view.

  • If you're new, getting a huge patch of updates early in your game is going to be positive (been there).
  • If you've never spent or only spent a bit on cosmetics, paid your box price and have been playing for hundreds of hours, of course any patch is going to be positive (been there).
  • If you've spent lots on cosmetics, or bought the lep for the expensive sale price, downgrades from prior form are not going to be seen positively. This is the reason why im offended by the type-10 model and the carelessly done mamba hud and codex ui. One is not permitted to be upset about subjective issues, but poor work is real.
If you're point one or two of course you won't even feel the mosquito. If you're point 3, well, you have to adjust your investment to match the return.

And we all walk away happy.

EDIT: There's a fourth point.

  • If a patch *doesn't* focus on your gameplay style, all you end up with is a collection of quality of life improvements, and of course you're going to be happy (been there. All throughout horizons i was closer to a fanboy like a few here because it was all combat related. Go figure).

I'd say that's a pretty good assessment. With most patches the thing I look forward to is usually the QoL tweaks rather than the headline feature. My main concern is usually that gameplay I already enjoy will be disrupted. Most of my posts on this forum have been either suggestions on how the wants of others can be accommodated without disrupting my own wants or making sure my stance on a gameplay element is clearly understood in the hope that it is accommodated in the proposals others put forward.

I bought ED version 1.0 and liked what I bought. With very few exceptions that's still the game I play.

Yeah i really wasn't aware of disruption potential of the design committee at frontier. I'll still say overall the approach is good and its well, its been a 50/50 success rate. Elite would be very different if frontier were focused primarily on what the community wanted.

I kinda feel bad about all the feedback i gave on reddit at the time handwaving the issues people were having. I finally understand.

Personally im generally okay with the themes and support of current elite.. though my opinion is the experience itself was better in the past. I was always stumped why frontier would come out of nowhere and change the parameters of many key aspects.. rather than building tutorials, dialog boxes, help, to explain what the intention was. So much stuff could have been left with a simple tutorial instead of lobotomy. I don't think players are that stupid, they just need a catalyst to get started. That's why obsidian ant was so useful.

What happened instead was people got into the game by stumbling and doing only one thing copied off someone else, not seeing anything else and played themselves into a complaint.

eg. I wonder how many people got to the point where they know the old gold rush or rep grinding stations could be found everywhere in the bubble and all you had to do was go look? Or know that that's no longer possible anymore :p

Maybe it helps that I bought the game on release (and have therefore read all the update patch notes) but I've never followed the how-to guides of others, I don't particularly help others or encourage them to do anything other than play their own way. I don't use external tools so if that interface is broken it doesn't affect me, I don't compete with others over earnings per hour or any other metric although I am primarily an achiever so I like my stats and stuff like codex box ticking is right up my street. I play in Open at all times of the day & am ideal pirate fodder but have never successfully been pirated. While the BGS rules settle down I have moved my base of operations temporarily to a very low traffic system that remained unmapped for a week (naturally I then mapped it myself) so as to avoid disrupting the hard work of others. I gave up my home base earlier this year to a player group because their need for it was clearly greater than mine (I work alone).

And of course I don't mind when people make mistakes (just as I try to use my own as a learning opportunity) like bugs because generally they get fixed.

And to follow one of the more recent branches of this thread, Stigbob is on my friend list (and has been for a long time) because I have enjoyed debating topics with them & when s/he takes an opposing view Stigbob and plenty of others play an important role of devils advocate to reality check stuff against. You'll never change Stigbob's mind but you can satisfy yourself that your idea stands up to scrutiny (or doesn't ;)). I don't excuse or condone poor behaviour but I do realise I can't control others (however much I sometimes want to ;)), only my reaction to others.

I also don't bear grudges & give out rep pretty freely on this forum for thoughtful posts that don't disparage others. There are probably plenty of people who read my posts & think I am an awkward pain in the neck too. However insulting people may be I do try to take all views into account and will regularly ask for clarification but I'm not a pushover.

So give Stigbob & others a break & take advantage of the service they provide to refine your own views just as FDev (hopefully) try to take all of our feedback on board, because it's frustrating as hell when people don't.

It isn't true though is it. The best anyone could do to supply an actual game breaking bug was flowy referencing a seondhand issue on a platform he doesn't use so there obviously isn't a glut of gamebreaking issues. The basis for this thread isn't factual.

You also need to take into account the fact I've played the other releases so a claim this one is buggier doesn't wash. Even then they were not the buggiest updates ever as ED is generally much more stable than the averge AAA game.

You also need to take into account anyone demanding to know why people are on holiday at Christmas/new year obviously isn't being particularly realistic.

There's nothing in or about this thread I agree with.

That you are unable to recognise any viewpoint other than your own as being anyhting other than "WAH HE'S TRYING TO HURT MY FEELINGS" says more about you than me. Maybe I just don't get super upset about minor bugs on release in my favourite video game, or upset about video games in general at all.

Why do you bother!
It is like arguing with a girl in puberty, and yes he is partly trolling you!

Maybe I find the guy claiming he can't reason with me whilst posting nothing but personal attacks really funny.

I also like girls (but not exclusivley).
