I thought if you released more than one chunk then each chunk represented less than one opal? If I detonate a core and release 10 opals, regardless of the number of chunks I break off I don’t seem to get more than 10.
Oh sorry - forgot to add: forum dads in the house again. Boo hoo, someone may be earning more than I think they should.
It seems to give a slight mathematical advantage using more Blasters. But takes more time to collect. Still when you have a buy price of 1.6 million it's worth it.
I'm sure this is the attitude to make Frontier listen to your plea to let you keep exploiting this bug.
It is absolutely an exploit. All accounts found doing this will have their credits reset to their pre-3.3 values.
And if they do confirm its unintended and therefore an exploit will you give your ill-gotten gains back ?
Why not I did with the quince exploit. I had support remove erm 300mil i think it was back then, from my account.
I know most would see this as weird.
My problem was that I never built a beta ship with anything other than two blasters, so I thought one or two fragments per hit was typical FD RNG. It never occurred to me that the occasional additional fragments were the result of the additional blaster hit.
Maybe it's not a bug, maybe FD put it in as a wee Easter Egg Christmas gift out of pure kindness at this festive time of good will ... yes, i think that's it, mystery solved Cmdrs, have a happy 2019 ;-)

That's why I said pre-beta. Can't remember the livestreams where Ed showed of mining, did he fit only one blaster?

Yeah, just one. Don't remember anyone flagging it in beta either, but with the infinite monkeys of the live game someone was bound to spot an edge case if it exists. A lot of 20-20 hindsight saying it was something they should obviously have tested for IMHO.
Now I'm trying to think of other cases where it might work - I wonder if you can use abrasions blasters to mine mats on surface POI

Heh - I remember the days when people were complaining about the number of hardpoints required for mining and the main issue was "how am I going to fit enough weapons to defend myself from pirates?". I guess we've moved on from that to "How am I gonna fit moar abrasion blasters?"
