What were your top 3 favorite updates in the history of Elite Dangerous so far and why?

2.1 Engineers with Horizons was when I decided Elite had enough content to start playing even though I backed the game.

Subsequent updates have not really done it for me as they stand you'd need to rollup Guardians, Thargoids & Beyond as one for example.

2.1 broke it. Quite a few G5 materials were suddenly not available anymore, because the mission reward tables were borked. Or was that 2.2 ? Memory hazy.

What I meant was that 2.1 was the update that brought RNGineers. Update 2.0 was the first Horizons content update, which introduces surface landings, SRVs, bases etc.

A content update with the name "2.0 Engineers" does not exist.

I think this list should be sound (see linked patch notes for details):

1. Horizon, planets landing
2. Engineers, after fixes, like spicial efects builds etc.
3. 3.3, Exploration, scanner, mining, audio logs, battle chatter, light system etc, sound. (Best update so far to me)

Ah thanks, changed :)

1. Unknown Artifact - Some real gameplay
2. Engineers - Material Collection is normally fun, and customisable modules (even if everyone has the same) is good
3. DBX - While I dont fly one, the ship is a brilliantly different design

The first one i got because i was still new, and didn't know any better than 'wow look at all those patch notes this game is amazing'.

They've all been pretty much...

If anything probably the guardians.. this was the first patch were we got some first class story related content for the sandbox, and at the time, noone knew how it was going to play out so we were all hoping for some epic thargoid.. something. When it became apparent it wasn't even close to story content rather just a skin for pve COMBAT it deflated quickly enough.

My favourites thus far are:-
2.2 Mainly because it was my first major update.
3.0 Because of the Aliance Chieftain, never had so much fun flying, not saying it's my best ship but it is a joy when I do take it out.
3.3 For almost everything in it.

Whooaa! We are getting a fifth chapter in the Beyond series?!? Please don't keep that information for yourself! What will be the headline feature? Will we finally see persistant NPCs and be able to fly the Panther Clipper? :p

Oops! Sorry mistyped the number from Commander Thrusts list.

Should have been 4.3 Bradford is discovered on Raxla.

Now to edit my original post to prove I did nothing wrong.

1. Adding the ability to grab delivery missions even if you don't have room for em right now.
2. Landing on planets, and driving around on em.
3. Engineering V2.0

2.0 was by far the best update ever, with the much awaited planetary landings it extended the game in a whole new way. it also set the bar very high and showed immense opportunities and promise.

sadly no other update has lived up to those expectations. each one brought some nice feature but at a cost of constant drift into power creep, credit inflation, an assortment of gimmicks and ship model dumbification. i would vote roll back to 2.0, try again from there. [haha]
