High End materials gathering is quite simply worse than before...please acknowledge...

Typical Bob reply. He gets off on sowing civil unrest in a thread where people are discussing the downsides of a game mechanic. Immediately followed by the snide remark that people are attacking him for his personal opinion. Which of course isn't true. I couldn't care less how he plays this game. Good for him that he's happy with how the game is. But he himself is criticizing everyone's who encounters issues using a different and valid play style and that your approach of playing the game is wrong. Play it my way and there is no problem. Hilarious to say the least.

I don't think you understand what "civil unrest" is. This is a discussion about trivial video game mechanics, that's rapidly turning into salty hilarity.

There was no viable way to find HGE in the old system. It literally took days to find a specific mat.

I disagree, after awhile I got the hang of it and was pretty efficient at gathering materials, people just supercruise and go afk until a signal source to pop out, I had developed strategies based on my observations (when to change system, go deep space/shipping lane), change direction from time to time, actually visit unwanted signal sources, etc. This was all based on hunches and I have no data to back it up except the results:

Couldn't you wait until you had 100 IC as well? :p

There are four major dice rolls to determine the content of an HGE...

Roll 1: Are there any HGEs in the system at all?
Roll 2: For each HGE, which faction does it belong to?
Roll 3: For that faction, which of the three states does the USS inherit?
Roll 4: Does the USS contain the materials relevant to that state, or generic crap/something else entirely.

Certainly agree that the state of the controlling faction is about 1000% less relevant than ever before, since any faction can own the HGEs in a system (roll 2).

Interesting side effects. i didn't get myself onto Engineer since a while (already engineered most of my important ship) but sure this sound like RNG god didn't leave the place at all.
We just trade one god for another =)

Despite, a quick fix could be that trading mat would be 2 / 1 or 3 / 1 for the same grade level. In place of the 6 / 1 that looks like a joke since day 1. (sorry, I have to complain about ratio) but who use trading mat today at those rate exchange ? ... sure not me

I didn't know you could filter the mats like that. +1 rep.

Isn't trolling against the forum rules?

How many weeks did you spend on that result? It took me only a couple of hours spread over a few days to get that result with the new system. Try farming 700-800 Imp Shieldings within 2.5 hours in the old system.

Without wanting to come across all noobish or sensible (depending on your outlook) but isn't this a matter of FD adjusting the USS spawn rates / tables?

Have FD confirmed they are aware of the situ?

Are they planning to do something about it if it is actually broken?

I'm just saying....xmas holidays....everyone has been away and they probably wanted to see how 3.3 played out before touching anything other than obvious bugs, like with the BGS and inflated mineral core prices.

Are the USS spawn tables something that could auto adjust once the BGS is back in full swing? I honestly don't know that much about how they implement this feature.

Seems likely it's that simple. The rates were probably upped in beta for testing purposes.

Exactly, and they have more important fish to fry, as Ed mentioned on the stream at lunchtime, there is a list of priority fixes they are working on. The material spawn rates aren't nearly as important.

I have seen a couple of posts saying that spawn rates of HGEs in general were higher in Beta.
Could well be that the rng regarding mat type vs faction state is intentional, however, actual mats spawned does not seem correct.
And there's an assumption here that the mechanic has not completely changed. I would hope not.

Do you?
Plus, you should put your game style (you're playing it wrong) in a sig which would reduce the need to spam just about any thread you disagree with. Is one of the mods your brother or something? Not blocked as sometimes you do make me laugh.

Yes, before ashenfox went off on a personal attack tangent I was one of the only posters actually trying to discuss game mechanics. Maybe you missed that.

Love the new conspiracy theory, I'll add it to the list.

Actually my completely non-scientific opinion based on nothing much at all is that the later 3.3 betas had a reduced high grade spawn rate similar to the live release. But it could all be just luck and rng/system state fluctuations.

Yes, more important things, for example stability, freezing, servers etc.

If we don't discuss issues, then they will not be aware, and they will not change.

The problem as clearly stated in the OP is not just spawn rates.

If you'd posted anything I thought was worth an answer I'd have given one, as I already have. That's what triggered all this rubbish from you.

It was a simple question requiring a simple answer, but you carry on ducking it, I don't mind at all. I have been discussing the topic with everyone, only you cannot seem to get past my evil attacks and return to the discussion, I didn't realise I wounded you so. Sorry mate, can we get back on topic now? ;)
