If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

I was just fiddling with the knobs on my galactic radio and heard something very...strange. I managed to capture and record the transmission:

That's just Zig. He's had lots of extra time on his hands after leaving the deep black. I'm glad he's being constructive.

Wait, he took off his eyebrows! D: Now I'm a bit worried.

I dont want to call it out too much cause for all i know there might be a dev post but to constantly dismiss the old honk as a placeholder is not completely valid. As a noob that system is opaque you dont just learn it over night and it took along time playing before i didnt need the sounds for most of the types. From a certain point of view the old honk was a fully fleshed out mini game, if not the most complex. What is the new FSS? Is that skill or can you just muddle thru if you try to zoom often enough?

I've seen a lot of noob-ELWs tagged as the only planet in a system. Always had to smile seeing that it was just one of those look like ELWs metal worlds. A friendly smile.

Btw, I miss the songs the planets once sang to me. I get it, the new sounds are more accurate and realistic, but its just sound those things make.

But dont those ones trick us all on occasion? And they say it took no skill. And yeah the sounds were great and suitably spacy.

Once you start using the fss you forget about the system map unless its for bgs info or detailed materials lists and double checking you've mapped everything. Not having to deal with the loading time is pretty good, and relying on the nav panel for route plotting has always been more immersive.

Oops did i just say that? :p

I think i worked out a way for visual explorers to find interesting bodies too, see my last post.

Also for jonkers do the honk from within the fss as the first thing you do. Theres another much more immersive option as well.. instead of just hitting throttle while you line up to the next system, scoop and clear in one motion, and simply stop. There's still tonnes of time to turn your ship while idle.. and hitting witchspace from stop via a 100% key is so much better than hitting it at full speed, it feels "cooler".

Hows that for a personal attack frackers!!??!!?!? Frontier developments horryay rar have some hate. /s

And where was the "skill" with the old system? Flying from planet to planet until your brain was numb out of boredom is neither skill nor challenge, it is or rather was, tedious. The FSS might not be perfect, but it brought some long needed QoL improvements.

EDIT: Don't mean to sound offensive, but still - i don't get all the complaints about the FSS when i compare the actual doing between FSS and the old ADS.

Then you will love the "Extended FSS" coming with the next patch ! Scan the whole MW without even undocking !
Isn't that cool and QoL ?
Flying to explore is sooo boooring !

Both the ADS and FSS are dumb and completely unskilled. With probe mapping you can see there is subtle difference in the result each time, and the gentle carrot of the efficiency bonus makes it like you're still a little bit awake when you do it.. if you're 7 years old maybe.. but not the ads and fss they're toddler games (a keen topic of mine atm). No way im going to try....

I love the new system. The only change I would make is to have the needle remain where the commander last put it. So if I only care about ELW's, then I should be able to tune the needle to that part of the spectrum, & leave it there.
