Buggiest update ever

Today's new bug, I click on play from the launcher & it hangs. If I leave it for about 3-4 minutes the game will launch as normal.

I'm not sure whether 2.1 was better or worse than this but I don't think being better than the worst is much of an accolade ;)

It'll get fixed eventually, it's just a matter of priorities I guess.

In terms of connectivity it was much worse for me I was getting booted to the menu about four times an hour. I've had a couple of freezes this time around but nothing drastic at all. Still using the same draped over a mountain copper cabling.

Most of your reasoning in this thread has been based on different experiences for different people. For me this one has been a bit worse than usual for any update in terms of how frustrating the various bugs have been and connectivity. For me personally this one has not been bad enough to fail the threshold of acceptability.

But I would say that this was arguably the most problematic update so far (since launch), a disappointing result considering 3.0, 3.1 & 3.2 were probably the most stable updates so far, again IME.

They never said they are 'rushing'.

of course they wouldn't. but it's pretty obvious to me. you may see it differently, that's legit.

the thing is, it's a fantastic game. and i'm pretty sure braben is still fond of it. but there's the by now incontrovertible fact that we are just pwans in a big business scheme, and attention to detail and care for good user experience don't seem to be priorities at all.

which is weird because what they do say is that their business model depends squarely on nurturing a community. way to go, frontier, way to go. really, given the evidence that just sounds like business trash talk.

To be fair to FDev they have started making some bug fixes already server side, in particular with the BGS problems according to recent dev posts in bug reports section, but hopefully we won't be waiting too long for a client update to fix the other game breaking bugs and freezes.

So they say, but nothing they have claimed to make a server side fix for has been fixed. Faction states are still stuck, CZs are still broken. Saying they are fixing it and actually doing it appear to be separate thing for them.

As you said our opinions are based on our experiences and mine have been good for this one. Even 2.1 which was barely playable for me resulted in me submitting a bug report but no more, I felt no need to start threads decrying it or lambasting FDEV.

So although an argument could be made its the buggiest based on the personal experience of others an equally compelling argument can be made that it isn't.

For me this update is easily the best so far given all the positives and lack of negatives.

Out of interest, are you playing on your own or with other folks? For me, its way worse than 2.1.

Open as default solo whenever my connections bad as I get service not game disconnects, my connections rural so that's not on FDEV. Mostly open since this update, I rarely wing up but the home systems are all pretty busy.

Well, why bother, eh. They've had the glitzy launch. They've uploaded the PR materials. Their pals in all the advertising-driven digital rags have frothed at the mouth at all the amazing radio-tastic features in the update without having fired the game up once. Where's the incentive to actually fix any of it?

There's not much needs fixing really, minor connectivity issues aside.

I just wish FDev would fix the 20 sec freezes. Am not spending any more money in the store until they do, that's the single most annoying thing with 3.3 for me.

Everything else is minor in comparison, for me at least, and all in all I'm greatly enjoying it, particularly mining and exploration (both of which I deemed to be mindnumbingly dull before, especially if done for prolongued periods of time).

Yeah..... The CZ fix.... You know, that bug that made CZ's completely broken is now fixed. Didnt hear about it? Didnt you read the professional 'Community Managers' announcement? Well, if you open THIS thread, page 8, towards the bottom, you'll find the message.

Maybe we should add "Bug fixing announcements" to the FSS scanner.

Yeah let's turn literally everything into a separate minigame

Reporting a bug: you have to chase a little bug around with a completely new and separate set of keybinds that aren't related to any other keybinds, then click on the bug three times, to open up a bug report window

Launching the game: the "launch game" button remains greyed out until you have "tuned" your mouse cursor in to the right frequency because the giant computer controlling your starship literally has no capacity to do that for you automatically

Delivering cargo: you have to "pick up" and "drop off" the cargo separately, moving it from your hold to the station depot, using your SRV, 2t at a time

Repairing hull damage: you are presented with an image of your ship, you have to zoom in eleven times onto each square foot of hull and scrutinise it for breaches, then click in a few different places to fix each breach
