Here's a thought. Maybe FDev could add an "experimental" engineering thing to the FSS that can add some of the features of the old ADS, but at the cost of mass, power, etc, so if one wanted to have something more like the old ADS they could, but it's still the FSS. Just brainstorming a little...
If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

biot i spent some time on their forums. They were very confused i think thats all im gonna say cause wrong place for fallout.

That is a problem with the entire ethos of FD. For some reason (a little off topic) they are unable to just develop the sandbox and let the players do whatever they want with them. They'd rather force the player down alleyways to conform with their [FD] narrative.If they want more FSS usage they could nerf mining a little and make it not so credit productive, tweak the BGS to return less credits. If they wanted to turn more to mining, same but make it more appealing. If they wanted more Thargoids activity, make that more rewarding.
They ended the year not delivering what they said they'd deliver. Players are now too busy filling their boots with void opals, and probably will be until next release of air is expelled from the marketing department. And then it'll be pages of some other forecasts of doom/gloom and yay from the same audience. Me included
Yowsers. A tragedy?! Melodramatic much? So some very niche exploration gameplay (guess the goldilox zone stuff) has effectively been removed, which maybe FD will look at find some compromise or not (there's been enough noise about it so I'd expect a statement one way or the other just for good PR). But othewise you can still do everything you could before - in fact it's better as everyone can now find stuff to go and investigate rather than just those with literally hours to kill flying around and hoping to find something.
Im starting to think the FSS is not really about exploration. Its about making credits and because you are making credits that somehow justifys the misery involved. Very disapointing.
No actually thats how great i thought it was to have a galaxy to explore. But my way needs the old map reveal. Like the greatest thing iv ever seen in any game ever...so far. But fss if you got to use that thing its just not worth the bother.

I think it's more a case of thats the best the imagination could come up with, a 1960's b-movie 'esque screen and noise style with ANSI graphics.

This is your opinion, you are entitled to it; however it is not objectively factual. There are several of us here that disagree. Please stop presenting opinion as fact. My overriding feeling from the entirety of this thread is that I struggle to comprehend how someone, who is presumably an adult, can get so bent out of shape over something so ineluctably trivial.

Did you see when whats his face got up on stage? They were so focussed on pandering to their chosen he called pvpers Aholes. And he was like yeah we gonna show them. And then on the forum the word griefer was interchangable with pvper. And there is alike a group saying, hang on, this is how we play. In a game filled with guns and naughtyness. But they didnt listen. The smart people didnt buy it. The lucky ones refunded and most of everybody else is mad now
They split their comminuty and basicly totally discounted a certain group. Just like the FSS people are doing to the ADS people

In fairness....
There are really only a handful or few at most complaining solidly. The rest are happy, couldn't care less, too noob to understand, don't even know there are forums to complain on and more who bought the game at its market value for a tenner, and just ditched it.
The FSS is here to stay, and I'd bet FD are far too concerned with trying to fix the current stuff and from there trying to imagine what else they can add and break in 2019 that will keep them bug fixing in 2020.
I don't see the ADS being reintroduced ever. Thankfully the FSS doesn't take up a slot. So simple answer is, ignore exploring.
If only you were so keen to point this out to some of those you agree with. Im not "bent out of shape" im just flying the flag for an ajustment to the FSS mechanics in the face of teh opposition who would end the discussion if they could and bury the issue forever. If you are so happy with it why are you arguing with me instead of playing? I might think you find beating me and killing off the ADS permanently more important.
