No you didnt fix it, you just twisted it cause yet again there is no answer to why one group of people are being excluded from the game. Some people didnt like flying their ship about... it was "too far" or somesuch. Apparently people like myself need to be excluded so they can be happy. I dont understand why.
As I said above in my last post - the FSS still does not stop you from doing exactly that. And it even caters for those who loved parallax-hunting bodies because they simply have to not use the FSS and bingo you have a parallax-hunting game involving flying your ship around for tens of hours in a given star system hunting for bodies.
I was fighting ideas like the FSS for years. Now I've been using it and probe-mapping I don't think I could go back to the old ADS
I do, in fact, like green eggs and ham.
I suspect, just suspect, many players "not so much into hardcore Exploration" were disgusted by the fast movers discovering the Milky Way...

Because “one group” is not being excluded. Huddling together going “ if we can play basketball with a soccer ball, than we’re going home and not playing” isn’t being excluded, it’s self-imposed exile. These are TOTALLY different.
So why wasnt it self imposed before when they didnt want to fly the ship?
We arnt being treated fairly. Somebody decided the system was wrong and now their version has been inflicted on everybody. Thats not right.

We were happy playing basketball with a basketball.
Then FDev decided to change it to use a tennis ball.
Yes, we CAN play with a tennis ball, but for us it's a lot less fun.
So we'd like a separate court where we can still use a basketball.

Lets take a moment to think about that poor soul who came back to the game half way round the galaxy only to find his ship changed...Sometihng went wrong here. The internal process inside FD that makes sure evrything is ok screwed up. Really quite big time. Dude comes back to his game and find months if not more of investment flushed at a stroke. You could almost sense the tears in his request to be moved back to the bubble. FD screwed up.
Now it's still basketball with a basketball... but sitting on a chair at a standstill.
Nah, it was mostly a reply at the title, as I was disregarding it as yet another whinge. Oh well.
If only there were some way to follow what was going to happen in the game months in advance. They could even make videos about it.
Seems a tad overly dramatic... how exactly does the addition of the FSS flush that player's invested time? They can carry right on with their trip (and begin to earn a hell of a lot more credits doing it, at that)

Because it wasn’t a decision made by “the other group”. It was a decision made by those who make the game. Think of it this way:
You are a religious person. You are accustomed to the sun rising from the East and setting in the West. God decides one day that the sun shall rise in the west and set in the east, and it is so.
You don’t like this, since you live in the east, and now everything is backwards for you. It’s backwards for us in the west too, but we like it or we get use to it.
And here you are, asking God for two suns, so you can still have one rising in the east. It doesn’t have to provide any heat. We don’t want it to provide any light.
God ignores us both, and does what God does, because God knows what we do not.

Not everybody pays attention to upcoming patches and in fairness i think he had a right to expect his ship not to be messed about with. Ususally when significant changes are made they put out a big warning a month in advance. There was nothing.
Its not overly dramatic. The FSS is incompatable with that kind of gameplay. It just is, looks designed to be. It ruined his game just like its ruined mine and many other explorers. FD are supposed to be making fun, in this case they have dumped on a group of us.

Since I can't remember the last time you've liked anything they've done to the game, you could always apply to work for them to turn the ship around. You're speaking as if it's an absolute that the mechanic isn't fun or engaging when there are plenty of people that find it to be quite the improvement. Just because you don't like it, because Drew, Burke, and Ziggy doesn't like it, it doesn't mean it's a crap system that isn't fun or engaging. It simply means you guys don't like it. The same could be said the other way around. Whether or not it's good is subjective, so why talk about it like it's objectively bad?
That's why I support an optional, separate ADS module returning to the game. Are you new here? Go back and read the thread.
However, if you want the current honk built into the FSS to do this - too bad, so sad, you lose
