I would suggest you drop your powerplant to a 4D and overcharge it... you'll shave 6t off your mass and you can then up your two shield boosters to A rating for a net 3t loss in mass.
How do you explain that long row of flair in you signature, then?

Not to get derailed into detailed build critiques, but for an exploration build that is terrible advice.
After jump range, a major determinant of travel speed is how much downtime between jumps you have. A D-rated PP + Overcharged is a recipe for high heat, which means not getting as close to the star when scooping and waiting longer to cool off before jumping. If we're looking for more power and less mass, 4A + Armored is the better approach.

Sure, but not unless I'm within a dozen jumps of a respawn station.
So, as I said, the whole question is academic. No one in the expedition will allow himself to be killed out in the black after months of exploration.
You guys will have some fun over the next week, and maybe also around the time we're at the Sag A* station, but after that, you won't see anyone in open any longer.
