Pharmaceutical isolators

Been hunting these for hours/days. Followed all the youtube guides etc and found nothing. I'm sure they are in the same place as rocking horse , hens teeth and the arc of the covanent.

The current general consensus right now is that they practically don't exist.

Some people have found some.. I myself found some today, but they are so rare it's not worth it to farm them specifically.

Honestly, the best way to get them right now is to just farm what's available and trade for PI at a Material Trader. I did a few hops today, just went system to system and picked up whatever was there and then traded for what I needed. Yeah, it's a 6 to 1 ratio which sucks.. but you can do this pretty quickly. It's going to be much quicker then trying to actually find them.

It seems there are a couple of materials that are just unusually hard to find right now and sadly, Pharmaceutical Isolators are at the very top of that list.

Your best bet is the engineered anacondas at pirate threat activity level 7 USS found in lockdown systems. The condas are plentiful if you can find one. The chance they drop pharmaceutical isolators isn't high, but they do drop them. Bring a good ship because they're tougher than the average NPC.

Pharmas and improvised comp. are really rare. My advise is to avoid imperial or federal outbreak system. You will rule out core dynamics and imp. shields.

I farmed the independent or alliance outbreak systems. Hge must be in outbreak state to but still sometimes you will get random loot thats why i avoid fed or empire systems. You have higher chance to get pharma.

It is still rng and you need lots of patience. I have maxed out pharmas twice now but it isnt fun.

As far as I know there are no youtube guides to this that are not out of date.

Since 3.3 the guide to getting any G5 manufactured material is the same and can be written on a single line:

Go system to system looking for HGE USSes, drop into every one you find, scoop whatever is there. Do this until you can't take it anymore, then go trade for what you really wanted.

It's rubbish, almost everyone is complaining about it and I'm sure it will be addressed soon.

The first half of this sentence I whole heartedly agree with..

Sadly, I have my doubts about the 2nd part.

I think FD honestly intends for Engineering to be as much of a taxing grind as humanly possible. I do however, admire your optimism. :)

I have ONE piece of evidence that it will be fixed...

It was SPECIFICALLY STATED that a goal of 3.3 was to improve HGE USSes and materials farming. The result is an EPIC fail that is worse than the previous system. Therefore, I have to believe they will have another go...when...well, that's the questoin isn't it. But note these threads starting to pile up. ;) I said it the day after release, that there would be a torrent of salt. If I had a couple of euros for every correct prediction I made on this forum over the years, I'd have about 50 euros. lol.

About half the negative steam reviews cite the difficulty of high end materials farming being in the way of playing the game at a high level. We are BLEEDING players who WOULD have stayed if they just had a better opportunity to catch up to players who are playing for years. Elite offers new players NO shortcuts, which I know a lot of people would be dead set against, but it's a matter of reasonableness. It would take a dedicated newbie 500 hours of dedicated play to reach my level, and no matter what anyone says about 'I did the grind, so should they!', it's an unreasonable price of entry and one of the main things that stand in the way of the popularity of this game exploding.

Deadly/Elite annie's regularly drop decent quantities of G4 mat's but G5 mat's are rare enough to allow me to award myself a hobnob when I get them.

If I did that based on the mission NPC I've seen recently then I'd need a diet :)

Then again I am doing Elite level missions, and I guess not everyone can do them, where everyone can drop in on a HGE.

That's what I'm pinning my hopes on too.
I forget the actual phrase used but in one of the livestreams one of the dev's definitely said something to the effect that finding HGEs would become something based on skill and knowledge rather than blind luck and tenacity.

At least, prior to 3.3, you knew what system you needed to be in and you just had to hand around waiting.
Now, even if you're in the "correct" system, there's an incrementally smaller likelihood of a suitable USS spawning - assuming the BGS is in any state to let it happen at all.

One problem is that HGEs have become very rare. Another problem is that the minor factions within the system have multiple states: most of the USSes, including High Grade Emissions, are from minor factions within the system that don’t match the state of the controlling faction.

It’s kind of jarring going to a Boom system, and finding countless conflict zones, War USSes and military checkpoints. The controlling factions are oddly silent. It feels to me like a puzzle that hasn’t been completed: the pieces are all there but you can’t see a picture.

I checked NINE Outbreak systems yesterday looking for Pharmaceutical Isolators. HGE-USS found? Zero.

I'm just staying away from engineers until material spawns are fixed. Being a fairly long time player I already have ships engineered for pretty much everything. Of course that means there are some new ships I havent played with yet but they're not really"new" are they? They're just slightly different variants to what's already in the game so I don't really need them.

Eventually the BGS/material problem will get fixed. Or I'll get tired of waiting and stop playing. Either is an acceptable outcome.

Rocking horse is in the attic, hen’s teeth are in the hen’s mouth, and the arc of the covenant is 22.48 degrees.

As per usual the result of Frontier changing something, not taking the consequences in regard and the players that're left to deal with it. Just trade @ those wonderful 6:1 ratio's. 16 desired G5 for 96 tradable G5's. Absolutely ridiculous. Would be fine if you need a handful to complete the batch you want and trade at 6:1. But no, let's just make materials that should be obtainable through signal sources, nearly unobtainable. What's hilarious is that USS now have a faction owner and state. Yet they still reset the whole BGS, not testing beforehand how the changed BGS reacts to such a reset. Especially since USS are now much more dependent on individual system faction states instead of only the controlling faction.

Luckily I'm out exploring, so I don't have to deal with this horsesh1t from Frontier.

Damn, running out of space ...

Edit: Maybe we should petition FDev for more storage space?
