PvP What are good starter ships and good weapon loadouts?

I've won a lot of duels in my Viper (vs Vultures). There's just something about that ship.

Hell yeah.

Go chase Ferdies with it man :) Surprisingly to some, it can sink them with relative ease (Just avoid rams obviously).

I think pre-engineers it was straight up the best ship.

Sure some things have more firepower, but what you get as a complete package in the ViperIII (and IV to some extent) is just miles ahead of pretty much anything else bar FDL's.

But when it comes to bang for buck? I'd say the Viper has the FDL beat. For one it does'nt come with a 10mil rebuy tag.

I transfer it to wherever I'm conducting ops as backup and when things get to hot, such as a blockade, I pull out the viper. There's a video of me and Shippy. I'm harassing him in his Challenger. I get on his nerves while in the viper, but as soon as the video switches to when I'm in the Krait, well that's another story ;)

Ahaha, got a link? I wanna see lol.

Ah yeah the Krait.. oh the Krait.. Not so Krait in my opinion.

Theres something weird about the pitch/yaw axis on that ship (though bizzarely not the Phantom), where it has a very noticable lack of finesse when it comes to small movements. It's pitch especially seems to have very little to no middle ground. You're either pitching, or your not. I can't adjust to that, which kinda sucks because it's a cool looking ship.
But then I can't say I'm all to keen on it's lackluster acceleration. Phantom seems pretty decent though I will say.

No. Do not do this.

Sorry John, but that is selectively a PvE loadout. You will not be killing folk in serious PvP with beams. You might as well try to tickle them to death.

Also, most of those ships (Winder ex' because Archon Fury), are sub par at best.

Mind sharing your 1050hull/700mps build? Love the Viper too. Mine does 575 at 1555 hull. Its frequently being commented on when roaming CGs.

I'll look, it was Shippy's video of a specific CG last year. As for the Krait Mk2, I totally agree with you. I gave up on it for PvP and its now my AX ship.

Lol'd at the sideys with ramming speed xD

Nice one man, outdone a iCourier vs gimbals in TTK, good show.

Though when your shields went on the Krait... Ouuuch.

We chased him so far, my escape system was blocked by the gas giant. So by the time I selected a new one, his canons had already disabled me. These guys know exactly what to do once shields drop.

Niiice :)

Oh ouch. Yeah it's that familiarity with the ship your fighting aye, knowing where to hit on shield pop to ensure they can't escape.

Drives on the Krait though are a new one on me. Though that being said, I never flew it very long, nor do I see many outside of the frag+prismo combo and they run on shield pop straight away, or before. (Awful build vs anything with lateral thrust lol)

Usually I'll try to hit the FSD first, but next time I see a MKII I'll certainly be having a pop at those engines.

why make so hard on yourself

c3 distributor will not handle dual focused PA, as well as viper itself, if you go this route better take 2x thermal conduit instead:), 1srb+1eff is borderline reasonable in terms of temperatures with thermal spread armoured plant. I fly the viper,

Erm.. Yes it will..

Target lock and dispersal if you're running dual plasma. Keeps the turrets and gimbal off your back, you can dodge fixed or any auto target projectile weapons.

Armoured PP yeah. You can get away with C2 if you're running the right weapon setups.

Rails are the best option for C1's as they have a short charge to fire time an high damage output. LR if you have weight to spare, SRb if you wanna brawl with it. Not advisable to go past G3 though as the range will be too short to leverage properly.

Alternatively, C2 and C1 Lr rails with C1 and C2 Foc' pulses/Phasing is a good ship to practice with hitscan weapons. The longer range and extra legs on the MkIII will give you decent ToT against heavily shielded targets such as FDL's. You won't pop them in the shield but you can eat a good 50% of hull before they run out of ScB's. Also good for longevity tests against bigbois.

Also don't discount the MKIV. If setup for Silent Running it can hit over 3k in hull and still maintain it's op lateral thrust. A great small ship. Higher heat cap too.

I'm not saying its impossible to fire from both focused PA on viper, what i m implying is that its impossible to sustain DPS with them as well as under 100% heat, i m talking about Bi-weave viper that want to do other things in combat than shooting, and even if you only shoot, i m not sure its possible to fire with max possible fire rate with 4wep pips with them. Also you cant really get max use of better Tot than eff/sr/oc mods given this. And finally i dont think 2 rails and 2 focus PA are good weapon combo, we have 2 lr weapons with different shoot speed and DPE not sustained by our PD. btw... i fly DBS with 2sr PA, that have same PD and same distributor draw, problem is that poor DPE on high ToT weapons is crippling for them with weak distributor, but not so much on low ToT weapons.
