I will now high wake when I see a hollow square instead of immediately switching to solo, if that's what you mean.
That's improvement!

I have more faith in Fdev then you do, I guess.
And on another note, "ruining PvP for guys like you and me." This expedition is the first time I've ever encountered even a whiff of you actively engaging the PvP end of things, so to me it looks like you should be thanking us for getting you off the bench and into the game. Your welcome in advance![]()
Yup I would be lying if I said that DG wasn't fun for me too. Because tbh, hunting you guys this far from any station is about as thrilling as Elite gets. I do hope we meet in game soon, and then you can show me this "no compromise monster" that I've been hearing about. No doubt it will force me to rethink my tactics and build, which is the kind of experience I am always looking for.
Still, the real butchers bill is coming, and I don't see how you can avoid the backlash against what you guys are doing, and why. Especially not if you are successful to the degree I know you are planning, and especially not if it results in RL consequences to susceptible individuals. Which isn't something that you can rule out these crazy days. At the very least, you will be facing a forum poop storm that will dwarf Salome and make the previous (now softening) anti-PVP toxicity seem like a crystal clear mountain stream in spring.
Has anyone else seen an uptick in people asking about and getting into PvP for the first time? Maybe it's just me, but DG2 seems to be sparking interest.
I assume you are inferring the use of alts in a PG. Not my style. I'm all for the chaos, and I'll laugh nice and long if it happens, but I will have no part in it myself. Nor do I actually know of anyone else who is, either. If anyone is planning that kind of action they're being really secretive about it because I haven't heard anything besides jokes that I just can't take seriously.
Yeah, I'd like to meet you out there, too![]()
I am not getting into PvP at all.... but i am thinking of going back to open. but this is nothing to do with PvP but all to do with the economy. Money means nothing now so who cares if i lose a ship ? (I wont be using my NPC however).
now that is said you may be thinking "this is a good thing" but for me it isnt. I am gutted that money now means absolutely nothing.... but i have come to the conclusion i may as well embrace it and get what enjoyment i can out of the game, and i suppose the risk of human interaction may be a tiny bit of interest for me..... but it is nothing compared to what i feel the game has lost <shrugs> not much i can do about it now.
I am so glad i had my 1st 3 years that i did in the game, they were glorious, mostly due to the promise of the direction the game would go in... now sadly (for me) it seems pretty obvious this is no longer the game FD are going to make.
"free throw away ships for everyone!".
Player interaction in Open could be awesome if the discrepancy between PvE and PvP ships wouldn't exist.

It's not that there's a big discrepancy between so-called PVE ships and PVP ships. It's that there's a big discrepancy between good engineering builds and bad engineering builds. You can use any PVP build in PVE and be similarly more effective than so-called PVE ships (eg double plus ungood builds).
The bigger discrepancy though is between people who know how the game works, and people who don't. You see this within the PVP community too. There is a crap ton of stuff that I don't know yet, and I am learning with almost every fight I get into. And there is a crap ton of stuff that I know that most people don't know yet either. It's a big deal, and can increase the effectiveness of your ship by a factor of 5 vs unwary opponents with similarly powerful builds. No joke.
But there is a big discrepancy between combat fitted ships and non-combat fitted ships.
Have we actually had even a single person in this thread since after the WP1 launch that has actually come and cried about being ganked while playing in open? If so, please let me know, and i'll point my finger and laugh at them.
There doesn't have to be. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...amity-through-lightweight-solid-shield-builds
It never will though. On an individual level ED is about having the right ship at the right time, or having a balanced ship that can deal with problems most of the time.
Even for the over 50% of base game owners who don't have Horizons?

Fair point, getting shields that are only 70% as good on a non engineered Conda would require 7A prismatics and 8 A rated Shield Boosters. And even that is barely strong enough to escape good PVP builds. Yeah the imbalance of base A-rated ships to even poorly thought out grade 5 engineered ships is tremendous, never mind well built combat ships flown by experienced pilots.
This isn't an issue of PVE vs PVP though, more of an issue of base power level to top tier power level on any given ship. If you're suggesting that they increase the base power level (while keeping the top level the same) I would heartily agree. The only issue here though is that even weak NPCs will become similarly powerful and dangerous, which could actually impact PVE beginners at least, not necessarily being more dangerous but maybe making fights last longer.
My Krait is fully Engineered. But I just don't have space to add all the additional defenses, since I prefer playing the actual game rather than some PvP meta. As said above, I can high wake all the time, that's not what I would be looking for when it comes to PvP though.
What a lovely sentiment. But you'll only be qualified to "laugh" at braver CDMRs when you can do it yourself and survive based on your wits. But even then, it's def not a classy move. In any case, you don't get to decide who belongs in Open. It's literally Open to everyone because it belongs to everyone.
"Fully engineered" and "no space to add additional defenses" I am not sure what you mean here. I am flying an exploration Krait, and I can go toe to toe with the best of them currently.
