Day 64 of a broken background sim

Brett community manager replied to me a while back said log a support ticket.

I reckon this is a big one and Frontier must be having a lot of trouble fixing it as it's been so long.

At this pace we'll never get an official useless response, you guys aren't even trying and I am inclined to believe the BGS isn't actually that broken. If this would be about a serious issue, like fixing an exploit that hardly affects anyone, we would've reached the required 60 pages in minutes. I'd say that less than 2.8% of the BGS are seriously broken.

Maybe the interest in ED is shrinking, maybe the people had enough of begging for tiny infos or fixes. Maybe the developers are too confident that the next updates will make everyone scream "I love Elite" and thats why they don´t care. All in all, the next 1, 2 or 6 month will decide about the future of elite with or without FD. I cannot stand this effort of communication even nowadays in the internet of hate... ED has one of the best communitys and they should carry us on hands!!!!!!!

What do the "maintenance mode" believers think the next DLC is going to be?
Clearly 4.0 is going to be "ED: Maintenance" - on the ship side, massively expanded wear-and-tear and module damage mechanisms, AFMUs and repair limpets replaced with fully-detailed minigames to repair hull and modules. On the BGS side, a more detailed economy which requires players to actively support it to keep trade, station facilities and even system populations from collapsing.

All these in Open only ;)

One could only hope.

Nothing Open-only, or even Open period, is going to have any chance in hell of working as intended until some fundamental networking and matchmaking improvements are made and Frontier actually starts enforcing their rules.

Oh boy, I knew the BGS had been acting weird since 3.0 dropped, but reading a few pages in this thread I had no idea it was this bad!

I was lucky enough to not get screwed over by the BGS with my minor faction, but I won't take any risks now.

It's insane that this has been broken for 2 months, and FDEV remains completely silent.
The BGS should have been completely frozen when the bugs were noticed, to prevent the loss of any progress.

The sad thing is that as it stands now, nothing can really be done to revert what has happened. Some people made some legitimate progress with their faction, while others lost days/months of play time caring for their faction because the mechanics are bugged...

According to the ED dev tracker website, their hasn't been any meaningful post regarding the pletora of bugs for weeks....
I remember a time a few years ago when devs would comment and interact daily, on a wide variety of subjects.

Now, a useless comment every two days by a community manager, and thats it ?
That's sad

It's a great pity that fdev have taken the silent approach to dealing with any issues.
Once upon a time they couldn't stop talking but now you never hear from them especially the big cheeses who are glaringly absent.
These long communication black outs never create a good atmosphere for the community, regular updates on broken content should be a priority.

day.... day 66....

crawling through the bug filled desert for one more night, thankfully nothing untoward happened yesterday though i dread today's tick as I now do everyday... wait, whats that. off in the distance? is it? it cant be? PATCH NOTES! the haze clears. no, no patch notes, no fixes just the same damn bugs.

Hey, on the bright side, it's bringing all the BGS squadrons together. I feel camaraderie with AEDC now. I'm still going to boot you out of Ross 128 soon, but this is all very wholesome isn't it? We who fight, joined in a united voice;

FD, fix your crap!! :D

I agree with this thread and I really hope frontier do something about it now months later, the BGS system from what I've seen hasn't been consistent as all.

I'd say the BGS affects everyone, even if you don't 'play' it. The BGS is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together.

And yet most people don't care, hence, they either don't know how broken the BGS is or if they know, they do not complain because it doesn't affect their activities

Please FD Please, Fix the BGS bugs PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Cant win Elections for example, when you dont have an asset..... and so on

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

This is how I feel every time I have to post or read about the buggy mess of a game that is the current ED. It is unfortunate, because I really like it, but man is it frustrating to play. I gave up posting bug reports, since most/all of the issues have already been reported. If FD could just focus on fixing this current version.

Case in point, I took off from Mars High this morning. Mars looked normal. Then, literally 2 seconds later, it changed to the "mapped" blue grid view. You know, the thing they supposedly fixed. Then, flying by Mecury and, viola, same thing happens.

I have not started ED yet. Despite being an original KS backer.

I never used my backing goodies to take part in any alpha or beta access, 99% because i just do not have time to playtest a game. So i've been waiting patiently to feel the game is in a state where I can determine it is worth my time to start playing.

So when i read threads like this, it just breaks my heart, and not for myself, but for the rest of you that literally waste your time on a broken game.

Now that is a sentence i'm not posting to send ED players into a fury, but just a possible reasonable evaluation of the situation as it has been since day 1.

The worst part about all this is it did not have to be this way really, there was a proven track record from the previous Elite games that could have been a bigger part of what ED could have been. But i guess ED came along at kind of the wrong time in relation to the games industry, new thinking on what makes a 'good' game was all around (from catching 'whales' to the emergence of the loot box thing and all the 'social' gaming trappings.) and the pressures from all that seem to have left us with a half-baked Elite, that still needs a decent amount of baking.

So this is my +1 post for this issue to stay around and get the required critical mass it seems to need to get a response from the devs on their still broken game.

Sir David, was it your intention to make a game as broken as this one, for as long as it has been? Speaking with the deepest respect and love for the Elite franchise as i have, and so knowing all the history involving outside publisher pressures resulting in previous buggy Elites etc.

Oh and when do you (or anyone at Frontier) think i might want to start playing the most expensive game i've bought?
