Pimax 5k+ play Elite impressions

I am seriously considering picling up a 5k+
I have a rift but I am underwhelmed by the clarity. Is it going to be a noticeable difference. I don't have lighthouses etc but seeing as it's only for elite does that matter.
All information would be appreciated

Couple of thoughts:
1. Make sure your PC specs are up to the task. I have an i7-7700, with a GTX 1080 card, and results are (for me) acceptable. Thin lines in stations tend to crawl, but performace in a busy Haz RES is fine
2. The built-in in head tracking is mostly ok, but not as good as 6DoF that is possible with an external sensor.

Clarity and field of view are superior to the Rift.
The head strap is a flimsy afterthought, and there are workarounds (search HTC Vive deluxe audio strap for pimax), and I think pimax will be coming out with an upgraded version at some point.
With the Oculus, I could log multi-hour gaming sessions, with Pimax, maybe an hour +/- max. The HMD ends up resting on my nose, which gets painful.

I think for now the pimax is going back in the box...

Tried using the broken odyssey’s face pad and it’s marginally better but still not comfortable with glasses. It all just feels like “almost there” tech at the moment. Will wait for a decent strap and lens inserts before this becomes the main headset.
Have to be honest, I’m disappointed.

'IF' you are considering selling off your Pimax, and you live in the UK (As I do, for postage cost etc) and would like to sell it to me, PM me, i may be interested at a price that suits us both.

Thanks but I’m a collector... and hopeful that it’ll work out once the strap and lens inserts arrive on the scene :)

No problem mate, i am after a 5K+ and just can't even get a response from Pimax about consumer shipping dates. You would think that they would have the decency to just reply? Got my eyes on a Vive Pro, and a lens kit, but flippin heck it's a whack of Mrs Wasp0 holiday kitty!

18mm Gasket works perfectly for me - no distortion or warping.

It is now an awesome headset, out of the box it was trash, i was ready to sell it after the first evening of discomfort and distortion drama.

It’s on the list of things to try but I can’t get it shipped to Saudi unfortunately so will need to wait until I travel back to UK

8600k and 1080Ti but it seems the pimax needs the top gear to go with it

Just got my 5k+ yesterday and im having slight performance issues on my i5@4.5ghz, 16gbf or ram, GTX1080 and SSD for OS and the game, looks amazing tho.

Im digging into so settings for getting it darker and haze removal, gonna see if i get that sorted tonight.

got my 5k+ today. It is nice but for now i cannot wear it longer than 5 minutes. It is very uncomfortable to wear. In order to hit the sweetspot it needs to sit quite low on my face and the middle of my nose hits the uncushioned gap between the lenses. It is better when I set the IPD to max but that is not a solution.

I have no base stations and the tracking drifts too fast for my liking. For now i am a bit underwhelmed...

I don't have Base srations either and it does drift a little but after spending all the money and the wait bases stations are just next on the list. Can't you just get a bit of door self adhesive draught excluder and stick it across the nose. That way even though it sits it won't be painful. I have a pea head and I can get my fingers down the sides where the 2 little cut outs are on the cushion. Will be sticking some too that

I have a single base station that works fine. Try to get one on ebay (like me) for cheap. Should be good enough.

In which country on this planet are base stations sold for cheap on ebay?

I picked a pair up on UK ebay for 140 - they'll arrive Thursday (cheap compared to 125ea new from online pc retailer). I needed a pair coz I play ED in my full-axis motion rigs so tracking gotta be good.

My 5k+ arrived suddenly last week. Pretty sure my current setup (see my sig) won't cut it with the pimax (except for the 1080ti) so just speccing up a i9 9900k, z390, ddr4 and ssd to swap the 1080ti into. Anyone here using i9 9900k and 1080i pimax setup? (or is that cpu overkill)- also, do I need the vive handset too in order to set the pimax up (something else I don't have being a cv1 user).
