Reporting Combat Logs and other exoloits

@Silow If someone logs on me, i record it and i message them and they admit in the message that they logged, is that enough proof for you?

In the given scenario, it's either 85% or 2.8% certain that they actually combat logged on you. It might also be that they are now tooling with you and if you get angry about it, they actually got you and you just badly lost a chat-based PvP fight.

FDev put mission generating on dedicated servers, which killed board flipping. Things can change. I don't hope for anything anymore, but it doesn't hurt for others to do so.

I absolutely would welcome the game switching to a server based infrastructure. This would indeed give them all the tools and metrics necessary to determine combat logging and act accordingly. Unfortunately it would also mean that FD would have to pay for servers, which they are unwilling to do.

It doesn't necessarily mean a subscription fee. There are several buy2play games with item store, e.g. GW2, which ran quite well for many years. But while server costs scale roughly linear to the number of active players, this would still cut into profits. So i would not expect this to happen. Ever. :(

There’s been at least two threads in the past week or so were the poster complained about communication from FDEV regarding their frequent disconnects. The one I saw fully admitted to combat logging via disconnect or task killing. I think that’s why Oubs posted this thread. Something’s changed and it suggests FDEV has developed tools to address clogging.

If frontier had developed anything to address clogging, we would know. I m pretty certain that if i go to the next cg for some pew pew, i will still see people log and their ships will disappear in front of me.

Well yeah, I’m not saying anything has changed all THAT much but enough to make a few eyebrows arch quizzically.

Hope that clarified what I’m trying to communicate.

Report option in game. Good luck with results tho, I have an 8 episode series on my YouTube channel, all reported, all still play to CLOG another day. 2015 FD announced their opinion of CLOGGING as being "not part of the game" and "an exploit", yet here we are 2019, and 85% of ppl n OPEN, readily CLOG.

That proves nothing.

This is true, but the point of the thread is to find out if there is a confirmed way to report Combat logging and cheating in general.

The only mod comment was a wise crack about space legs so I'm guessing there isn't an official communication about it.

If there was a wildly applied serious punishment regarding combat logging, we'd see people cry over it already.

We just saw a thread about this the other day. The information we got from that is that FD does contact frequent DCers based on their internal logging, frequently enough that they have an automated system for identifying them and what look like standard form letters for warning them about it. What we don't know is what the thresholds might be for coming to their attention for either a warning or for escalating from there. It is also pretty clear that FD are doing the same as nearly every other gaming company in refusing to comment publicly about actions taken against players. (The rationale of other companies being roughly: A) there's no PR upside, B) blabbing too much enables players who want to cheat just enough to avoid detection, C) keeping quiet preserves flexibility to address things on a case-by-case basis, and D) keeping quiet removes the risk that you violate user privacy in some actionable way.)

Also worth noting, the folks on these forums are disproportionately the more serious end of the player base. I'm pretty comfortable speculating that the vast majority of the players getting warnings or worse for this behavior, aren't posting here in the first place.

85%, interesting number you have quoted there: Any proof, or just a wild guess?

We're not allowed to comment on any moderator actions including their posts from what I gather, so you're on thin ice it would seem.

Wow people actually give a f..k about clogging astonishing.
Let people play their own game who cares we are not children on a playground.
# this game has bigger problems.

I know about the warning thing, but what is the most severe punishment we've seen?

Punishment can be issued based on reoccurring trends, i.e. does commander x lose connection often when he gets attacked by other players and no other time? If so, shadow ban.

So rather than letting crybaby gankers create forum posts about how they were robbed of the opportunity to get off on killing some unarmed miner in a Adder, you'd prefer a part of the community that is forced to play this game using an internet connection be banned from the game if said internet connection is unreliable? You CANNOT prove whether or not the "EVIL" Combat Logger pulled the plug or legitimately has a poor internet connection and just wants to play the game in Open. Also, you could get around this by randomly pulling your internet connection when you're not engaging another player.

My question was rethorical. I am well aware that it's just one of the many ugly faces of our P2P infrastructure. I just wonder if any of those anti-combat-logging people ever will manage to get to understand this. There are a number of cases, where i am still undecided if they just lack the mental capacity to understand the effects of the games infrastructure, or if they decide to ignore this information in favor of their personal agenda.
This 'issue' has been ranted about since day one. I would say that most accused of 'pulling the plug' have not done so, but probably went via the main menu. A few has simply lost connection, (something that happens to me, in a crowed instances, on many occasions) and even less actually, pull the plug.

However: According to those that have lost their 'game content'; everyone is accused of cheating.

Guys i think nothing has changed. For years now we learn every now and then here, or in discord servers, or at reddit, that someone got "banned" for disconnecting many times during combat. I assume frontier has some kind of crappy telemetry that if someone logs 2884738373² times and if it is combined with 333345 reports about that cmdr, they will probably do something. Nothing changed there, even if an official pops in to inform us that they are always trying to do the best, and always investigating yada yada.
Upon disconnection, the ship must stay there accepting damage, period. If someone has a crappy connection, or the pizza guy is banging on the door, please dont ruin other people's sessions and stay in solo or pg.
Ofc for all the above to work, we need a functioning c&p, which we all know it will probably never happen, which in result makes my entire post completelly useless lol.

In the argument of who is worse for the overall health of the game (CLogers vs Gankers), it's a no brainer, the community would be far better off without the gankers. Let's be honest, the majority of people who get on here to complain about this "issue" are the gankers who were denied getting off on that sweet kill of a helpless player. You had your joystick in hand, you're about to unload your swollen magazine of rail gun darts all over the rear end of that helpless Type-6, and just when you're about to reach the peak of ganking ecstasy... they moment is taken from you, and you're left there just holding your joystick, alone.

The first response of an insecure person who was denied is to become outraged about the damage to their fragile self esteem and make a cry baby post about it.

See the quote in my sig.

If this were to go into effect, all I have to say is enjoy playing this game with a tiny community of only the most hardcore nerds who have no life. To be expected to never have an interruption while playing a GAME is completely unreasonable.
