Karma system - is it still coming?

Karma as a concept, is a silly way to explain the fallacious correlations of a paranoid mind or subconscious, guilt induced, self-sabotage.

Karma, as was proposed in ED, seemed like a lazy way to make rules enforcement easier by giving such violation in-game legitimacy, and impose an unneeded morality system on the setting.

Either way, I scoff at them.

I'm all for a more rational, more meaningful, C&P system. I just don't want out of game actions to be part of that system (punishments for those behaviors should fall on the player, not on their character's "karma") and I don't want the system to resemble the arbitrary actions of an omnipresent, omniscient, or omnipotent force.
 
Karma is unneeded. Crime and punishment, and faction reputation already cover this. You don't need two different systems to overlap on something like this especially after the C&P update was pants.

I thought "karma" had morphed into "notoriety"?

If they introduce many more of these "character indicators" ED's going to end up like playing The Sim's in spaceships.

I was under the impression it was always going to be an internal reporting tool rather than a customer facing one, or a game feature. I guess the basic trend tracking, KPI logging functionality is already in use & we just don't see it unless we cross some threshold of undesirable activity.

It's not been replaced by Notoriety IIRC. As Riverside said - it was supposed to be internal system to track player activity patterns on long term basis. We were never supposed to see it in game.

From what I understood, if a player kept attacking small, unarmed ships with his uber-engineered Cutter, he would slowly but steady get bad karma. I cannot remember what the consequences were supposed to be...

I disagree. C&P does not track long term patterns in player behaviour.

Dear FDEV, is the Karma system still coming? It was supposed to complement Crime and Punishment. It's been a while. What's up with that? Is it still on the cards? Is it being actively developed? Did you change your mind? If so - is there an alternative being worked on? If so - what is it? If not - are there any other plans regarding enhancing C&P system?

Please let us know :)

You should know by now that FD has at best a fifty percent hit rate when it comes to features promised vs features delivered.
