So, The Bubble Is Burning, And...

There's a big difference between having one centralized CG and fracturing the player base over dozens of them.
That certainly slows down progress on any individual site, yes. But the progress on all sites collectively is also far slower than a CG gets, and this was also true in the very early days of the Thargoid attacks when there were just a few stations attacked.

If the thargoids don't start with their actions threatening stuff at the bubble that we take for granted, then this invasion will stay as it is now.. another failure of frontier, like the Gnosis and so many others.
People can even call their modules and ships from damaged stations as far as i remember. This is ridiculous.

I would say to frontier to man up and the pilots federation should make an announcement, that all major services would go down in a matter of 20 days (so preperations can be done) and introduce a small bubble of 10 systems (or some kind of specific stations around the bubble) with stations built by Ram Tah tech, where any cmdr can only use a max of 2 slots for ships and his entire module storage. Everyone should go there before the deadline. People can fight thargs, where others that dont want to engage, can do repairs to other people's ships, because repairs to ax gear, would be like extremelly expensive due to damaged services.

1. People can stay and fight a serious war with the thargoids and if the war is taken, then participants can enjoy thargoid tech awards, even thargoid ships and also gain back access to their assets.
2. People can go exploration and be about their bussiness.
3. People can go and start a new life in Colonia.

Invasion, cut throat, dangerous, exciting.. all words with their meaning lost in this game. I say let the bubble burn for real, and people will unite to take it back.

/dreaming

the salt would be unbelievable..

It also makes it a really bad idea to go into open with an AX ship, because people who might avoid pulling over an obvious trade ship will happily take on an AX FDL expecting a fair fight.

Any properly built AX ship will have no problem being in Open. True, fighting with AX weapons would be inadvisable, but AX ships have so much shield and/or hull strength that to actually blow one up would be a pain in the derriere. They are the very opposite of explorer ships.

Yes, it's advisable to just submit and wake to save time.

A lot of PvPers do Thargoid Interceptors as well and will recognize an AX build and not bother.

Speaking personally, I won't bother trying to repair a station unless its one belonging to my faction. Even then i won't be overjoyed doing it, since its basically a massive (huge) A to B, rinse and repeat, grind.

As others have noted, the amount required to repair a station is astronomical.

I think it's time for these lazy NPCs to get off their butts and fix their own stations. The "supplies" counter should slowly go up all on its own, with the ability to accelerate the counter by selling supplies to the station and / or contributing to the success of NPC traders (rescuing convoys under attack, reducing general piracy in the area, etc).

The result is that stations would eventually come online again after a certain period of time (months), but if the station is important enough to a group of players, it could be brought back online in a matter of days.

"For three years now you've been pulling everyone's strings, getting us to do all the work, and you haven't done a damn thing but stand there and look cryptic! Well, it's about time you start pulling your own weight around here.... Unless your people get off their encounter RemLock-suited butts and do something, I've got nothing to lose!" ~ John Sheridan

Lots of work has been carried out by many groups to stop the destruction of stations and to reverse that damage. Unfortunately, FDEV don't seem to be able to differentiate between the amount of players available before DW2 and who is left around right now. It's looking bad, but it's never been a lost cause.

If nobody cared, trust me - there would be lot more stations in peril.

You might say you don't care, but you care enough to comment. Odd that. But it's not new. Since we all started over a year ago, the same comments were thrown out there. But clearly, people still cared. Quite a lot actually.

The Pleiades is almost repaired. This is the area dear to the hearts of Operation Ida. We were born there and it's the most challenging considering we have to bring a lot of commodities from the bubble. We haven't ever quit, despite the odds against us. We even have to deal with deliveries going missing... yet still we plod on. Often we don't make much money. Sometimes we even lose it. But we still do the right thing. And we enjoy it.

The bubble will be next. Station repair will speed up. 1 or 2 jumps to grab commodities is a big improvement for us dedicated to the cause. We will continue to rely on our many allies to slow down the destruction. That's all we can do.

We've made a lot of friends, had a great time - and we'll continue to do what we do best. You're welcome to join us anytime.

Cmdr Ninj - Operation Ida

Interesing. So the way for me to see some progress with fixing any stations I want to see fixed in the bubble would be to give your group a hand in the Pleiades. I can work with that. It'd be nice to see some hauling end up with seeing a station being fixed

Oh, it could work.

But only if
- we could assign NPC Crews to any of our Vessels (i.e. Cargo haulers)
- task them to source specific Cargo at a place and deliver it to a Station under repair

Since we can't (amongst the hundreds of other things we can't)... not much is happening as Players are essentially invited to grind as if the Game tried to be a 2nd and 3rd unpaid fulltime job :D
Plus, there's virtually no incentive. Pay is Credits & Rep only and as such lousy when compared to {insert your favorite or most potent income source}.

I don't know how much RolePlay value there is in the Game asking Players to transport countless Millions of tons of Cargo - all while the local Systems, associated Factions, Powers and SuperPowers don't even lift a finger.
Dunno, just doesn't make any sense and seems extremely inconsistent.

PS.
In comparison, grinding Passengers out of Stations into nearby Carriers at least has something, I occasionally do it.
Pay is still lousy but at least in the right places, the SuperPower Rank is slowly progressing along if someone needs to build that - or get Mats/Data from the Mission Rewards. At least some tangible benefits.

Very, very well said.

Apart from a filter on the galaxy map (which most probably switch off) and this forum there is no in-game communication of this going on.

Because of that no-one deems it an emergency.

I've undertaken rescues and it was really fun.

Within a galaxy where energy and resources are infinite its only logical to believe that these stations will eventually repair themselves, if their doomed, if these poor soles face certain death why isn't their plight blasted across all communication networks in game or for that matter other local factions with vast wealth offering to pay Cmdrs huge fees to do so.?

Either one; the superpowers are intentionally blocking and ignoring this plight for political reasons (as would happen in real life?

Two: There is no real danger, the ports will evac who they can given time, fix themselves.

Three: FD have not thought about it or cant apply an in-game notification method.

Well, the alt account got some attention. Now, it's task is just to build credits. It already has all the ships and engineering it needs. No desire to dance to a bad game master's tune.

I just went on a trip out to see good ol’ Prof. Palin for a bit of engine tinkering. Flew through a large number of systems (including the Prof’s home system) where there were infestations of NHSS. Nothing came out to bother me, and I happily ignored them as I don’t really have much interest at the moment in the Thargoid scenario. If everything is on fire, it is doing so in a very subdued and mannerly fashion.

Thargoids seem like wasps. If you don’t go and poke them, they generally just buzz about pointlessly ;)

Less flippantly, I remember seeing a video of a group of commanders beating off a Thargoid attack on a station. It took a lot of effort, and some very impressive flying, which was appealing, but less so was the station’s reactions to the whole thing: None of the system security came out to assist, regular traffic carried on coming and going, and the ATC was handing out fines right left and centre for illegal discharge of weapons to the people that were saving it. That killed my buy in to the whole business, really.
