Early Bird is alpha + the full game by release [squeeeeee] I love it. I got it for my birthday. But I didn't buy it already. Meaby this week.

You really should! Frontier listen to their players and community. It's going to be a good clean and finished game upon launch...unlike most these days.

That 'small' game developer called Frontier has more than 200 employees and is around since 1994. They have proved enough. They can easily create their own system to support/release Planet Coaster. No big deal for them. At all. IMO.

Kenneth I suggest that you read up on Frontier's history, and also update yourself on all things released by Frontier about Planet Coaster. If that does not give you faith, IMHO I don't know if you ever get faith in Frontier or this game. Thanks.

The Alpha specifically, no because at some point it will transition into a Beta. In saying that though, based upon the the Elite: Dangerous Alpha/Beta you'll be able to test continuously until the final release in Q4.

As a Steam user, I'd like to buy Planet Coaster on Steam. Something like GTA V. It's an option to buy it on Steam and you can get achievements and trading cards.

Tell me one reason why they wouldn't release it on Steam. They would miss a ton of potential players if they wouldn't release it on Steam. Also, there's more than enough time for them to add it to the Steam store. Anyways, in my opinion we shouldn't worry about it until they confirm that it's going to be on Steam or not.

Lets put this one to bed. This game will be on steam. The only thing not 100% is steam workshop or in-house UGC. I think they are leaning towards the latter but until it is confirmed best not to speculate.

I think steam releasing on steam would be cool! There are only 2 things that I don't like about it.
1. If Frontier wants this game to last for a decade like RCT3, maybe steam is not where they should sell the game. We don't know how much longer steam will be very popular among gamers. I think it will still be popular then but sometimes new and better stuff come along.
2. Having to be online to play Planet Coaster. I think on Steam, you have to be online and connected to wifi to play your games. If I want to play this game on my laptop on a plane ride or bus trip, I have to some how find good wifi that can connect to the steam servers.
I guess we'll see what happens. I would enjoy the game just as much as if it where on steam or not. What they may do is release it them selves first, wait to see how sales are doing, then, if necessary, release it on steam.

In Steam you can play offline games You can start Steam if you don't have an internet connection. It's up to Frontier to make it playable if you don't have an internet connection. I have hope that Planet Coaster is playable if you don't have an internet connection.

If I shut down my laptop, restart it and I try to play a steam game without wifi, I have to log into steam and without wifi, you can't connect with the steam servers. So if for some reason I have to shut down my computer and the next time I start it up I don't have wifi, then I can't play. If you have to log in to steam with your password, I think you need wifi and have to connect with the steam servers.

I saw an offline mode on Steam so you can play your games without internet connection.

Here, you can still your games if they don't require an active internet connection.

This was repeated several in this thread. SteamStore is, as indicated by his name, a store.

If you want to buy it in another store, like, I dont know, the Frontier official website, then you can too.
It's just an alternative. And the more we have, the better it is for us (because everyone has their own habits) and better for them too (because more people can see the product, and so, more people can buy it)

Historically, Frontier is a development studio, now they are publisher too, so they must adapt to the rules of the profession. And the first rule is : more your product is seen, the more you generate sales. And since Steam is the biggest games store of the world, then, it's just impossible to miss (Unless you're "Ubisoft" or "EA", but it was such a bad idea, they are forced to share their catalogs now, and will have to open to all tomorrow if they want to continue [rolleyes])

Let's say in a decades time that Frontiers service goes down. If frontier could create their own Simtropolis or nexus based solution then I could see it working.

Don't tie UGC to a specific platform and not allow it to be manually installed.

Someone said he doesn't want to buy this game if it's not on Steam. Then he really doesn't deserve this game.

I don't like Steam that much. I like it more when games have it's own platform to share creations and maybe mods of course.
In my opinion steam destroy good games very quick. With the steam workshop you are able to make your game unplayable with a sh*tload of mods and things that shouldn't belong to the game.

If frontier have its own "workshop", maybe they are able to check released things and decide if its something that belongs to "unstable" or "cheating".
For example BLIZZARD Entertainment. Till now they didn't use steam and are one of the biggest company for games. WarCraft 3 worked very good with tools like the map-creator from them.

I think it is important if the game is going to grow, that PC allows UGC so that more and more scenery items and user built rides can be uploaded by the community.

I still use RCT3 and have downloaded lots of extra scenery items from various web sites, but some of these sites don't last very long or certain files get deleted. I found this site

which contains an alphabetical list for most of these items and directs you to a link where they can be downloaded.
The trouble with these hosting sites, are the file formats that they use. Some are Zip files, others are 7zip and a lot use Winrar.

I would much prefer Planet Coaster to set up a workshop, where users can upload their files so that they can then be added and installed to the correct file folders within the game. Of course they would have to be bug free, which could be scanned before files are accepted. This would make things so much simpler and enable them to be verified as user safe before installation. No more searching for any new content either. It has been mentioned that Steam also have this method of storing UGC, but whatever decision is taken by Frontier, it will be a step in the right direction.
