Frontier have also put another video up today highlighting Silvarette's work:

Erm, what? The ride operators have they been post edited too? Some clips are clearly from their latest internal build.

Yea.. that's where the theory starts to fall down lol!!

Now, who shot JFK??? I think it was probably a supersonic bumblebee bred by the russians that hit him [yesnod]

Silvarrets Grizzly Valley was lagging badly last time I saw it. I really hope these aren't doctored videos.

Why would you automatically jump to that conclusion? Silvarette shared the save game to his Grizzly Valley park when he completed the series and David Braben recently tweeted about taking delivery of a lovely new Geforce GTX 1080:

Isn't the simpler explanation that Frontier simply have the hardware on site to record it at a decent frame rate?

Not to mention the fact they probably have a way of rendering frame by frame, by slowing down the game.

Some just have a habit of seeing the negative side/find reasons to complain for the smallest things, case in point a few of the posts in this thread [ugh]

Maybe they spent serious time on the RCTW forum, back before it was deserted. Over there, disappointment and lies are frequent. Can't blame them for being super cautious when watching a video :)

It wasn't a conclusion, just trying to keep things honest.

Yes, because not saying anything is always guaranteed to produce the results you want.

I agree it would be nice to have the water moved by objects - but did you really 'expect' it? Almost seems like a high expectation for god view game like this. I've no doubt it will ripple and reflect and look quite beautiful in the final game... but you want it to splash around volumetrically when stuff breaks the surface? Is that what you were expecting all along from this sort of game?

Maybe my expectations are too low - your comment just surprised me a bit.

Well. I don't know which it is. After 4 weeks and that fuzz about not releasing water because it was not good enough i expected something more fitting the beautiful rest (like Crysis 3 from 2013). It caught me really off guard.
Not perfect in the progress, but it seem to me not much difference between the 17.05 Version (except some little ripples and reflections) and now.
The material in the video seems to be currently recorded.

I'm still lost on the point.. Like you say, it looks a little better than it did last time we saw it. As you also say, the scene is likely recent. So those two observations suggest it's still being worked on.

And if it were released tomorrow, looking exactly like that, it would still be perfectly good - just not 'amazing'. I think part of the problem is the relatively low res not making it look great in the video.

However, I suspect it is still being worked on. And even once they think they have finished it from a design perspective, it will have to be heavily tested internally to ensure it doesn't cripple performance. Like every other part of the game I have no doubt it will be as good as it can be, without stepping over the line of what is acceptable as a performance hit.

From Silvrret on SGW forum:
Frontier asked me to make some things and touch up some parks I was working on for the E3 videos. It's all made in the public version of the game though, I didn't add water to my parts nor did Frontier change anything in them - the water is definitely in a shot they made (which is a bit curious since this is a community video after all, but I don't reckon any member of the community has access to water; seems like they just wanted to use that shot to say that they have better looking water now).

Water has been accidentally shown in a livestream by Frontier earlier, so I don't doubt that it's actual in-game water, as opposed to being added in post production. Besides, the E3 video was made pretty last-minute, so there wasn't really much time to meticulously add in water in the editing process. And of course, I don't see why Frontier would even lie about the feature being in the game just like that; it seems pretty clear the water is something they're working on but just isn't public because it's not finetuned yet.

Wanna have different kinds of water though! Flowing, still and "waving" water. Also different types of looks like dirty, seompy, clear, mostly transparent, transparent.

The 'water tool' is gonna need a lot of options! Actually most parks use dye in their water too - so we need a colour wheel. Also various directives relating to sanitation of water bodies. This is gonna get complex!

...with all the Volcanoes in parks from the terrain tool's introduction, we'll need a 'lava' colour for the water!
