Coaster Smoothness

The roll is very long but its just to simplify the demonstration, it works for any type of transition long or quick.

To get that smoothness you use a camera trick that only works on a select few coasters. It doesn't solve the actual smoothness problem.

Just realised your K Sloane from NoLimits forums!

I'll give it a go but just still seems like we have to put a massive amount of effort into achieving something which could be made much simpler (and should be simpler to achieve)

All these smoothing and building techniques does not solve the problem, that building coasters in the actual way is bad They must integrate continous roll.
I don't touch the coaster builder in the game before this problem is solved. Its a pain to ride such unsmooth coasters. Even NoLimits Rollercoaster 1 did this better. But the actual state in Planet Coaster is not acceptable. Why does it take so much time to find a solution for this problem?
Sorry but if Frontier have not enough people to look after the really serios problems in the game, because they are all making new DLCs, there is a problem at Frontier how to work. If the game is still buggy or got serious problems, first fix this problems, before make DLC after DLC.
I've read long time in this thread and don't write something, but now its enough ...
New DLC, still no fix for this problem. And all that comes from the community managment is "We know the problem and are aware of this thread". Great, then DO SOMETHING!
Its really sad, but i lost the fun for Planet Coaster, because of this problem.

Although I agree it is not great to see this issue carry on. It definitely does not ruin my fun in the game.
Maybe the problem isn't the game?

lol that's arguing semantics. Clearly the problem stems from his inability to get past it, but his point is still valid no matter whose problem it is

^^^But PC DOES have continuous roll, you can force every joint to have whatever roll rate you want. You dont need the 4m technique. Here's another demonstration check around the 1:15 mark:

If you would at least have done an onboard camero view, you would have seen it is anything but a continuous roll.
Like Chems said multiple times, and demonstrated in his gifs earlier this thread you can still see the track is crooked.

^There is an onride view at the very end that shows the final tweaked s-bend, it is not crooked.

Here's another POV of a ride using these methods that I managed to make very smooth:

I know its not perfect, but if you tweak the track seams using the method at 1:15 in the last video, you can get very smooth.

I don't invest hours to build a smooth coaster. With NoLimits, because of the continuous roll, a track is directly smooth. The same building technique used in PC (really short track pieces like the 4m technique) make the coaster unrideable. IT IS definitely the game.

I do not want to put more than 30 min to build a coaster. I want to play to have fun and not waste time fiddling things.

Problem with comparing this to NoLimits is that that game's only purpose is to make coasters. If it failed on that part it would be a pointless piece of software. The editor is also pretty complex for the average player. My guess is that the development time for NoLimits and Planet Coaster is fairly even but one of the "games (NoLimit is not really a game) spent all that time on just the coaster editor and nothing else and the other built a whole theme park world with the simulation behind the economics, movements etc. of everything. Expecting the editor to be as powerful as the one in NoLimits is to have somewhat unrealistic expectations.

That doesn't mean that Planet Coaster's editor can't/shouldn't be improved upon. It would be nice to make it easier to build certain elements, but we should not expect a full CAD software to come with the game to design the layout, support etc. Probably better chance that the NoLimits crew add what is missing compared to Planet Coaster to their software and make it a game.

The coaster editor in NoLimits is actually fairly simple. It's b-spline.
Then, the NL team added some tools and toggles to make it fit a coaster design standpoint, but that's it.

I don't want an editor like the one in NoLimits, i only want continuous roll. If this is added to the coaster building system, all the "smoothness" problems, that only occurs due to the banking issues like in the first post shown, it will be ok. There is nothing more that the most people here want. But its already a pointless discussion where people say PC already has something like continuous roll or the smoothness is ok.
Sorry, no its NOT. And the games Name is Planet COASTER, not Planet Themepark. So is expect from the name, that the coaster builder must be good :p

That's the point. The name of this game is chosen very inappropriately. Due to the fact that this game is definitively a themepark creator than a pure coaster creator, the game should better be called "Planet Themepark". ;)

I agree. The coaster editor could use some love and the smoothness should be improved.
Unfortunately the devs have been very quiet about this issue. It would be great if they at least acknowledge the issues.

They did, see the developer post on this very topic, but no mention of timeframe.

IMO, this is one of the most pressing issues with the game. In order of importance:

Path builder
Guest FPS tanking
Coaster smoothness
Missing objects
