I agree with you Vampiro, that dark rides do need theme music and maybe if Frontier introduce dark rides of this nature, will choose the right music to fit the ride.

But but... If i am the one who is creating the ride and deciding the theme, there is no way Frontier can supply me a fitting theme for everything i can create. As the possibilities i can create are endless. From Jurassic to Fantasy to Greek to Alpine to testtrack's... there is no way they can supply me all needed themes. 9Once again no bash on Frontier, as they deliver 100% quality, but can't deliver 100% Quantity as that's just impossible)
So once again, i really hope they find a way to make custom music possible. On a positive note, Frontier does know what we want and does an amazing job so far so im pretty confident it will turn out to be okay.
I think you start to understand that you just can not understand the importance of any kind of custom content because you are not the original target of the product. [up]Well I am erring on custom music for the time being. Maybe its because I am much older than most of you guys on here, but don't get me wrong, I love music, but I am not into all this head banging stuff. My tastes are more for easy listening and sixties era, which I grew up with. I can see why most of you want custom music to be a priority, but it's not a definite must have as far as I am concerned.
Vampiro - If/when they do add custom music - can you share yours with the rest of the community, I would love some decent music to go on rides.
Thanks SPRidley, much appreciated!
We use a combination of real world recordings sprinkled with a lot of sound designer "guesswork". We don't always have to literal in what the real world sounds like. Sometimes our memories are so coloured that we have to actually do quite the opposite to make something feel believable.
For instance, when we finished our first coaster mock-up it was very clean sounding. Most people liked it, but said, it didn't sound real.
So I started listening to recordings of coasters and noticed that a lot of them have the sound of wind totally distorting the audio.

I took a guess and added a little bit of that in (layer 9) and all of a sudden people liked it a lot more!
The above image is step one, in how we created the coasters. I took a video of the same coaster Watson Wu recorded (the Thunderbird at Holiday World) and synced our high-def recordings to it. Then started trying to recreated that recording with individual layers. We needed these individual layers because every coaster you build is different and the sound has to be able to respond to that. So some layers are louder on corners, or when going fast or triggered at different times.
Conversely, I think you overestimate its importance because for you, it *is* essential and sometimes it can be hard to see beyond one's own desires. In reality it's somewhere in the middle: if the game is bad, custom content / UGC will not save it; if the game is good, lack of custom content / UGC will not break it. Part of the target demographic for PC wants it, part of it can live without it.I think you start to understand that you just can not understand the importance of any kind of custom content because you are not the original target of the product. In the end, nobody loses if the developers cater for custom content, but they have to be mindful that first and foremost the game has to be solid without it. So it will naturally always have a priority commensurate with that, and will likely be something that's delivered after first release.
Given the major progress on quantum teleportation (transferring a quantum state of a photon to a crystal is now possible) it's quite possible, indeed. And even if they need more time to do it, transhumanism will do its job, so ...Thank you Angelis for your description on modern day living. I am well aware of what peoples needs are in this technical age and we have come a long way since I was your age, when even mobile phones were a thing of the future. Yes I welcome this new age of technology, because it has made life so much easier for everyone. And no doubt by the time you reach my age, you will be able to teleport from one place to another, without needing any physical means to do so. Or am I being a bit to futuristic. [haha]

It's not that "futuristic" [big grin]
(Yeah, yeah, I know, off-topic again, I stop [rolleyes])
1) Never say neverquantum teleportation is not a means of transportation though, its only a means of communication or data transfer, the "state" is whats moved, not the actual photon. this process will never be a means of transportation
Hey Helena,
Sorry you didn't get the chance to ask your question.
I dont think we could leave such a lovely question unanswered so Matt Florianz sent me some details to post up. I should also give a huge credit to James Stant that created the language. Unfortunately he is ill at the moment or he would have been on the Q&A yesterday but I'm sure he'd love to chat more about Planco when he's back.Planco is real language created by the team and I'm sure James would be delighted give some more details on these at some point.
So, to answer your question...
I love You is "E dor oe!" [pronounce ee dor oh!]
And Lovely is Dorzi [Dor-zee]
He even gave us this little table to show you a number of similar words...
Loveable dorbali dor-bal-ee Love dor dor Loved doren dor-en Lovely dorzi dor-zee Loves dors dors Loving dorler dor-la
Hope that answers your question!
Zac
hah tlhaq ! [big grin]Thank you for taking time to ask around and answer. Thank you Zac, Matt and then James. How fun! Maybe we will be able to learn Planco just like some nerds learn Klingon!
well most people want custom music for dark rides, with the endless creative posibility with the building, its restricted by the inability to use music to set the mood, and it has nothing to do with "headbanging" music, custom music for this game isnt about listening to a playlist, you can do that with itunes, its about using music for the mood which is usually orchestrated scores or ambience to set the scene.
