Hi coaster friends!

Our Steam Workshop has been growing steadily since Planet Coaster’s launch in November. We are currently up to 97k incredible community creations from you all – thank you for that!

To celebrate, we thought we’d hold a community event to push our Workshop into triple digits: the Blueprint Bonanza! Let’s get together as a community and shower the Workshop with epic, original, and funky creations, reaching the massive milestone of 100,000 items; not only is this loads of fun, but anyone who joins in will have the chance of winning an annual pass to the theme park of their choice (see T&Cs below)!
We’ll kick off this event during tonight’s weekly livestream, where we will reiterate the following (as well as an exclusive teaser about the Spring Update):

Planet Coaster Blueprint Bonanza
Our celebration of in-game community content!

Starts: Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 3PM GMT with an extra announcement during the official livestream at 7PM GMT!
Ends: Wednesday March 29, 2017 at 3PM GMT; even if we hit 100k blueprints sooner, the entries up until this time will be entered into the prize draw.

Rules:
- Items cannot be under 50 pieces.
- You cannot upload duplicate blueprints
- Every blueprint you upload after Wednesday March 22, 7PM GMT will count as one entry into the final prize draw, until the end of the event.
- Winners will be contacted directly by the Community Team at Frontier.
- Frontier employees are excluded from participating in this event [sad].
(More T&Cs below!)

Prizes!
During the 100k celebratory livestream on March 29, we will announce the winners of the following prizes that were chosen at random:
- Three random winners will win a Planet Coaster goodie bag and signed poster.
- Three random winners will receive a Planet Coaster VIP pass for their characters (your avatar will have the ability to appear in everyone’s parks).
- A Planet Coaster vinyl, as well as a Hyper X headset and keyboard.
- GRAND PRIZE: ONE lucky winner will receive an annual pass for the theme park of their choice!

If you can’t be in the livestream to hear whether or not you’ve won, we’ll directly contact the winners anyway and have a celebratory post with the winners on the forum.

So lots of goodness to be won by simply uploading some items to the Workshop! We hope to reach this amazing milestone really soon, so we can celebrate this awesome community together!

[heart] Bo

EDIT - Hi everyone, because we're so close to the 100,000 mark we thought we'd extend the competition a little bit. We're going to wait until we hit that number of entries in the workshop before we do the prize draw. That means it's possible the prize draw won't happen on the livestream tonight, but we'll be making a social media and forum post as soon as we hit 100,000! This gives anyone who hasn't entered anything in to the workshop a little bit of extra time to get creative and be in for the chance of winning one of the prizes. James Turner (Flabaliki) and I will be building things to post in the Workshop on the stream tonight... hopefully see you all there!

So it doesn't matter what I build as long as it contains min. 50 pcs, and as it will be selected by random I can make the crappiest building ever as long as I comply to the rules I make a chance?

Getting myself ready for a workshop overload of random things......

Although in theory this is a great idea, That sounds like a perfect way to get even more junk to have to wade through to find quality stuff on the workshop thats already full of garbage anyway... Also.. if I was intending to upload something I consider to be quality content.. now is not the time to do it as it's going to get lost amid a flood of "entries"

I'll pass. Thanks though.

Well, if you upload anything in the next week, not even with the intention to compete, you automatically will.

What I mean though Is that I'll just hold off on uploading anything at all until this is over with. Because a contest like this.. yeah.. there will be some of us who care about the game who would make something nice and usable.. and then there are those who will make junk just to enter. Its an inevitable fact.

As you can see in the T&Cs, even though the winners are chosen at random, if it's something really awful and offensive, it will be disqualified :)

Other than that I think it's a great way for us to come together as a community and do something fun (whilst having a chance to win cool prizes)

I'm not saying its not a cool or fun idea.. in theory.. but in practice. less than half of the stuff on the workshop as it stands now is actually decent stuff.. most of it duplicates... copies of someone elses work, or junk. There are tons of great content on there too but most of it is lost in a sea of mess. Which there's other thread's on here regarding this. If you create something thats good.. you most likely won't even be noticed because of the constant incoming of more workshop content. This is the life of the workshop. This contest just makes MORE of it. I'm sure there will be some great stuff thats uploaded during this.. but I likely won't really even see it. I don't have time to look at everything thats uploaded each and every day and wade through that mess.

Good luck to all those who enter this though..

COOL idea - I should have waited with uploading my stuff the last days *LOL*...
and great the limit of pieces is 2'000 ;-)

Thanks a lot for the opportunity to see the community getting creative!

xSHADOWx is right. The steam workshop is a joke. It doesn't filter blueprints well and it glorifies only a handful. There is no reason to make it worse by having a contest to add more useless content. Why does Frontier find it so important to break the 100,000 contributions if half of it is going to be junk? Now we have people going out of their way to add more junk to the workshop as Luuknoord, the very first poster acknowledges :

What constitutes "really awful?" What if my 10 year old wants to share his fab toilet? Is he dq'd because he doesn't have the talent of some adult? This is a bad idea for a contest and I think its going to cause resentment.

Quality over Quantity should be what we want to work towards... not just a large number.

Here's an example.. I started a giveaway on my social channels.. (youtube, twitter, etc) for a $50 giveaway. A.. because I needed a 100 subscribers on youtube to get a channel name.. and b to self promote my channel and twitch. Over 800 entries in the giveaway so far, 90% of those people are never going to watch my stream, or my videos.. and maybe 50% of that is fake accounts, you can tell my the emails and names. One person literally entered named givememoney... Now.. the giveaway is working as its getting my numbers up on my channel and such and I was able to get my channel name. But what good does it do me now. The only thing I hope to accomplish is that 10% of people who entered that giveaway will stick around and watch and become actual fans

Quality over quantity..

We will hit 100k with the new spring update. Now if Frontier just wanted to do a contest to see who could make the best workshop item that's a different monster. I don't see a need to push for the 100k mark. But that's just my .02
