Inactivity?

Hey,

I think, the PC forums are getting more inactive! There aren't that many discussions per day anymore, and dev posts are barely happening!

Whhat do you think could stop this?

cheers [yesnod]

I was thinking the same thing.

On the plus side, they must be doing something right, at least the forums aren't full of people complaining! When people post it's usually either to give praise or to ask for additional features (such as the addition of goats, pools, flowers, goats) This means people are still playing the game and want more of a good thing!

I would like to see more dev posts though...

Hey there. I haven't been on much in months and tbh it is purely because I don't play PC. I don't think they ever accomplished to really provide myself with the gameplay I was expecting and with every update it always lacked what I wanted. It was all about the visuals of the game, the artistic side and they moved further and further from the simulation/management side that I have lost interest.

Then they release some cool content that is visual but put it behind a pay wall with the DLC. When a game is all about building and creating, honestly it splits the player base up further and when it really is their only game element I don't believe it's good business model and don't really support Frontier Development views in what they are doing in honesty.

I haven't been on because I knew my post would be negative but I have spent so much time watching this game develop, putting time and effort into trying to provide input since the start of the Alpha that it has made me a little disappointed that all my fears have come true and nothing that the other side of the game to provide longevity was implemented in my view.

This became apparent right around the management matters post and been on a downward spiral since because I really don't feel that management and what people who play management games was taken into consideration or the post used to describe it all/suggest what that player base would like based on our feedback in honesty.

Ah well, it is what it is but I feel there was a large number of players who were vocal here, liked the game, wanted more, discussed it and have moved on to other things.

It seems like it, but the "Community Creations" section still has enough posts. Besides that there are also a few big forums about similar games or theme parks with a Planet Coaster section that have many posts a day. Those exists since a long time. Besides that also the several Discords and such. In October i hope to see everyone coming back here again and speculate and discuss the next big expansion for Planet Coaster.

hey,

I have to say, that I don't post that ,uch on the forums anymore, as certain members do not accept any other opinion than their own. So I decided not to bother with posting in several sections of the forum already in february.
I still post in the creations section, that seems a place where it is possible to say your own opinion and not having only negativity in return.

cheers
tom

Maybe because of holidays?

Even game developers deserve some time off. [big grin] But it would be nice to see them more on the forum though, I personally couldn't care less about "workshop wonderland" or that stuff and much rather see them post on topics here in the forum. But to each their own I guess. Maybe after the summer they will post some more and address some much asked question you keep seeing coming back here.

Actually, we do care. We do release bug fixes for issues raised here on the forums bug reporting section. Our team working on planet coaster is working on some really neat features for the short and longer term.

Sounds cool! :rex::face:

Personally I'm not active due to holidays. I'll get more active once my holiday is over. :)

Yeah, unfortunately, it's also my case. I don't see a lot of interest put in gameplay and management. It's always about creative content. Yeah, they're amazing people that do amazing thing... but this game could be so much than this.

I still hope and I'm sure that I'm not alone to have better gameplay.

But, there's not a lot to discuss about this side of the game because there's not a lot of additions and changes about this since alpha. (Yeah, they're security guards, but this doesn't really add something...)

I give constructive criticisms and suggestions, but we don't have devs reply about this and don't see a lot of interest, so I also lost interest... slowly.

I really want to enjoy and play Planet Coaster on a regular basis, but there is just something missing. I feel like I enjoyed RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 a lot more when I was a child, but I cannot figure out if it is because that was a better game or if I enjoyed it more because I was a child. It also doesn't help that their development cycle is so close to that of Stellaris's, so that game is competing for my attention and money.

Hype has died down because there has not been any news about future updates, we know something is coming in November but we never know what to expect, leading to less excitement. The previous updates have been great and shows the devs are working hard and listening to the community [up] Certain limitations and UI/QoL problems persist that keep many players from continuing to enjoy the game, but I think we have seen sufficient progress to maintain confidence in future updates. It's just that many players who wish the game had more management are turned off by the game, leading to a significantly smaller player base, so hopefully the devs will announce a Scenario Editor soon :] maybe like Rct3 or even better? that would probably boost the activity!

When exactly is the next major update? They said the next update would occur on the one year anniversary, which will be November 17. "With the game’s anniversary just around the corner, and a new update accompanying that milestone, we want to show you what else we’ve got in store for you! Join this developer-led panel to find out what’s coming in the very special anniversary update!" Sounds like November. October 7 is the Expo where they will reveal what is coming in the update. There are still ride types missing that I would like to see. A covered thrill ride that spins like a Musik Express or Thunder Bobs. A Gravitron. A larger flume boat ride with rectangular boats. There are so many rides in RCT3 that are missing in this game. I would also like to see more horror scenery. At least with billboards you can now make static or moving scenes for dark rides. More wall types, and half square vertical walls. More roof types, and roofs to make large octagon structures. A new type of dark ride car which is more generic, we have cats, antique cars and sleighs but we need a recolorable generic dark ride car either two seater or four seater.

I'll admit that I haven't played much of PC as of late (I dabbled with starting a few parks right after the summer update but quickly lost interest). That said, there are two sides of this issue.

There is indeed a fundamental schism between Planet Coaster's identity as a park simulator and its identity as a user-created content game, as the ridiculously enormous (to the point of actually becoming counter-productive) Steam Workshop certainly testifies. There are lots of incredibly talented creators who've practically made PC their own cottage industry via YouTube and the like, and the sheer number of amazing stuff to subscribe to (without mentioning the ocean of mediocrity to wade through there as well) is simply overwhelming. Even with only a handful of themes available thus far (Caribbean/Pirate, Sci-Fi, Western, Snow, etc,) that part of the game has become an oversized buffet for those who love that aspect of it.

The majority of complaints that I've read here involve folks who feel that the park sim aspect of PC has long since been left in the dust, if not outright ignored by the development team (which I think is unfair; they have been making incremental improvements here and there, some of them in direct response to user requests). These are the users who thought PC would focus more on the building and maintenance aspects of the parks themselves, something that the RCT series managed to accomplish before this thing called online functionality (and therefore shared content) became so dominant.

Me personally, I'm not skilled enough at the creation aspect to make anything special, but I've subscribed to a ton of great stuff at the Workshop to help populate my parks. I'm fine with simply planning out, building, and enjoying a park, riding the rides and walking around enjoying it from a Peep's POV. The main reason I haven't touched PC in months is simply that I'm waiting on more themes and their associated rides, décor, animatronics, etc., such as Spooky, Prehistoric, Safari, and Water Park. Right now I just feel a sense of incompleteness with what I have to work with from a thematic standpoint, the plethora of user-created content notwithstanding.

I don't have unrealistic expectations, but I do believe the development team will get to most if not all of these when they can; this is a HUGE game already from a mechanical context, and it takes time to implement big changes in a way that doesn't screw up what's already there. So bottom line, I'm not "angry" or frustrated, I'm just simply waiting for the next major update to see what's coming. The perceived "silence" here recently is, in most cases, probably due to most users doing the same thing. Sometimes there are simply lulls between updates where there isn't much to discuss; it happens and it's okay.

Please don't be so hard on the folks at Frontier. If anyone has actually left the forums, it could well be due to the duplicity often on display here. These guys get praised to the heavens whenever they release one of their surprise (and typically free) updates, but a day or two later you'll read comments here saying the team "doesn't care". That sort of ingratitude poisons the well here and you know it has to suck the joy out of what they do to try and make PC the best it can be every day. They can't tackle every single aspect of such a huge project at the same time; some things will take longer than others, and sometimes what's "fixed" won't be the thing you were hoping for. But with time, I believe they'll get to it. Show a little faith, be considerate in your comments and requests and tactful in your criticisms, and remember that a word of encouragement now and then can't hurt.

Well said

As we get closer to the Frontier expo in a couple of months the forums I'm sure will pick up again in a big way. For now we wait for the next surprises they have in their locker.

I couldnt have said it any better than what you just posted.

Well the game is out the game is buggy, dev don't care at all and people leaves so simply is that.

Since the release we had 3 major updates (with bug fixes), 4 "small" updates with content (and bug fixes) and 9 bugfix updates. You could say on avarage we had updates/bugfixes every 2,5 weeks roughly.

How can you still state the dev's don't care?
