GameSpot Interview John Laws on Alpha 2 Upgrades

The stations look bigger so i wonder how this will affect coaster that we have already built structures around?
I wouldn't be too unhappy if i have to start a new park

It seems you can make a bigger station if want. At some point he had 2 control rooms and a bigger floor. Its in there as part piece to. Maybe they brake whole the station down to in smaller pieces :)

For me the terrain tools are the biggest and most important update to alpha 2.
Anything extra will be a very welcome bonus.

Edit: Im not very good with Coaster names ect but i noticed the 4 seat inverted B&M is called the "Rival"
Rival = Nemesis. Are there any other similarities you guys see?

Sprint 500 seems like formula rosso car. And sprint 500 kinda suggest its launched coaster imo.

Also everyone. I wouldn't look at John's wording verbatim. He was answering things unscripted about features that would be in final release and in alpha 2.

Looking at the videos and last weeks live streams it seems that last weeks streams were on a build later than these two.

IGN and Gamespot video review were done on build r19565 dated 10-5-16
Last weeks Frontier live stream was performed on build r19640 dated 11-5-16

Which means the video reviews were done on an earlier build even though they were reviewing it on the 10-5-16.

There are other items that back this up, when John moves the shops building talking about blueprints the edit button is the old pencil used in Alpha 1 instead of the three directional arrows for the new edit/ movement button.

For me this means the videos are already about two weeks behind where development is for Alpha 2. I think we will see various new items tomorrow that are not covered by these reviews. [yesnod]

This is backed up by the fact that animated gates for flatrides were confirmed to work in Alpha 2, while they didn't work in the IGN video's.

You can't sneak things past the Internet detectives. [big grin]

It looks like both videos were earning income, the money counter at the bottom of the screen was increasing in both videos. I guess that means some economy features are already working in the game. I suspect they will freeze these for out of Alpha 2 however as it is likely it is incomplete.

I can see water being available as a cheat code in a fairly basic way. It is not much good having a terrain editor capable of carving large basins in the ground if you have nothing to fill it with. [wink]

+1 for that! [yesnod]

usually in these cases you dont, any new coaster will build that way, and if you edit the one you have, it may screw it up. but the previous version should stay until you replace it....but there is a possibility it wont, so prepare for that.

yeah it seems to extend the station, rather than add another +1!! also if you pay close attention it seems they moved the coaster train back in the station to align with the gates +1 again.

its def gotta be a launch coaster, too much resemblance to formula rossa. hopefully it allows vertical climbs and drops....so that we can makes things like Kingda Ka.
