Thoughts on Poll that was on social media today?

But how could RCT3 do better water than a more advanced game? RCT3 even has waterfalls. Does PC have waterfalls? And it seems that certain attractions from RCT games like 3D cinema, mini golf, and bumper and paddle boats are difficult to do in PC.

Different DirectX version to start with. PC does have buildable waterfalls if you have the Adventure pack as well.

In terms of the flat rides, we don't know what they may add in future updates.

I wonder about that myself, and it's probably my biggest issue concerning PC. I really like the advanced art style of PC, but it's missing a lot from RCT3 too.

I think the issue is time. In time, everything will improve. This game rocks. Can't have everything perfect at once :D

My concern is not that "rct3 did it" but rather that the current system could be improved, like take for example rivers, people have built rivers using the river rapids ride, but why cant we get a simple flat piece of scenery in the shape of a river?? same goes for waterfalls why do we have to spam 1000 water jets? these are issues that could be simple fixes

A bigger concern though, is how biomes work and the fact that if you try changing biomes it causes a major glitch with the outside of park border, which means its nearly impossible for us to ever have an ocean or space biome without a complete overhaul of the current system, which should have been looked into more before beta ended :(

There are waterfalls. You can easily make rivers with terrain and water tool.
I said they should be improved, as in simplified, not that they dont exist. The basic water tool is mainly for still water and ponds, waterfalls require spamming water jets, and rivers, well just look at this...

It would be a lot easier if we had a spline tool for rivers, or even just a simple scenery piece. And waterfalls in RCT3 were really cool too, very simple, had varying sizes and actual flowing water with big splash effect depending on the size you created. Not to mention all the underwater effects and such

Remember, if they put in Soaked style (with THAT time's graphics etc) people would complain about clashing and low quality style. ;)

I understand why it is hard to do it.

But I still wonder.... Rowing boats swan boats etc.. calm rides on surface top should really work? Just make a selection of the water surface where you allow the rides to go. And it might show up as buoys? And then off you go, animate them. Like dodgems basically but on water.

And if it is still too hard to do pathfinding then why not give us predefined rectangles of "buoy areas" to choose between.

I'm sure if you Pick and choose what you want for a "Water Themed" Addon or DLC, you can find stuff that fits the description and doesn't rely on fancy Water Effects (If this is indeed the hurdle). I can see that a Underwater View could be really taxing. So yes, why not have stuff like Swan Boats (even though i have zero nostalgic feeling for them) and some more Boat based rides like a proper Water Dark Ride System. Continuous Movement Style Attractions won't happen i guess, so Cable towed ones are out. (Fata Morgana, Dschungelfahrt, Gondoletta...) But like Vampiro i am hoping for a Typical Boat and Trough System like Pirates of the Caribbean, even more now since one of my favorite Rides of that Type burned down in Europa Park. [sad]

Or go a bit more crazy and implement that "Tea Cup" Style attraction that gets flooded before it starts:

I have Patience, i can wait. And even if it doesn't happen that's fine too. I am really curious what the next DLC will bring though :D

I can see where the community is coming from. Water Parks are a highly suggested feature, and have been since Alpha, so its a shame Frontier cannot deliver [sad]

I would love to hear from Bo or one of the Devs why they've decided against this, in a bit more detail. (Would it be hard on performance, take too long to develop? etc)

I would personally love a water park dlc, or just a bigger dlc pack in general (expansion) Even if it does take more development time and cost more money.

My theory follows simple logic.
The peep groups are attached to, and controlled by a "flow particle". Animations of guests revolve around this particle.
This is why peeps can't be split up. Decision making is per particle. This why we can have 10,000 peeps.
In RCT3, peeps were controlled individually and we couldn't have 10,000 peeps. In PlanCo, 10,000 peeps may only be (on average) 3,000 flow particles to control.

Since the peep groups can't be split, single rider water slides are out. Or, they would have to load up to 6 peeps in the flume per "ride" and you know people would complain about that mechanic being unrealistic, just like they do for the coaster, and the track ride that releases 3 cars at a time, essentially treating them as a train.

Pools are out of the question too. In RCT3 - Soaked, when peeps went into pools, the family groups were free to split up and use lounge chairs, hot tubs, diving boards, and slides individually. That is impossible with PlanCo's flow particle crowd simulation. Suggesting they change that? It won't happen. It's a baked in limitation.

We may see more water rides like the log flume or river rapids, that have "cars" that can hold at least four peeps.
I think flat water lake rides may be problematic too. The swan boats, jet skis, canoes, etc, had no defining "ride track" and peeps were making their own decision on a per boat level, that also reacted to a user defined "terrain". If water flat rides do come, I'm willing to bet the operational area would be predefined. Which everyone will complain about the lack of customization. Guaranteed.

Conspiracy mode ON [big grin]

Ghehehehe... ;)

Look, 9 letters stand for the ninth day in a month. This very smiley as everyone knows stands for October. The date of the DLC will be 9th October [big grin]

Hmmm... [big grin]

But hey, look, there's the other message. These 4 letters stand for the 4th week of October because the big grin also stands for October (everybody knows that). Release will be in the 4th week of October [big grin]

Conspiracy mode OFF

It will be done when it's done which doesn't mean I would be glad to get some more information [big grin][big grin][big grin]

For those who didn't get it: This post was not real but just fun. Don't read too much into things (I did in the past, too, but learned from it). Be patient and wait what will happen [big grin]
