Thread moved to Planet Coaster Discussions forum as this was posted in Off-topic.
Please check out the International Discussions forum for discussions in French if you are unable to discuss in English.

The main forums are for English discussions only. [happy]

Regarding Planet Coaster with with Zoo features; I would really love to be able to create zoos in Planet Coaster (or a similar future game made by Frontier). [big grin]

While we do have the game Zoo Tycoon out in the world, we've not announced any plans or news for any expansions/updates for a Zoo Tycoon like update within Planet Coaster.

It would be pretty cool however! [happy]

Frontier made that? Yeesh. Every single thing I have ever heard about that game was very, very negative. Surprised it was made by Frontier.

This is the one where every enclosure was a single piece, and you really just placed paths between them, and the map was 5x the size of the object limit, right? :(

Personally i don't think zoos have any real place in a theme park game, but if we do get zoos, I hope they aren't like those! :x

Planet Zoo confirmed!! Everyone quick, whip yourselves up into a frenzy!

Perfect.... here goes!

What the heck Frontier!! You shouldn't spread yourselves so thin! Have the whole company just work on Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster!! [haha] How are we supposed to get updates when you guys are trying to create so much stuff at one time!! [haha]

Meh it was ok. Not Frontier's best by any stretch. I'd like to think that somehow Microsoft's involvement in publishing that caused many of the problems, given that they are fond of making a mess of everything they touch.

IT does have some stuff PC could use. The ping system, more difficult challenges, first person interactivity, better advertising options, fame levels, unlocks, facilities...

Well content wise you have all the animals, scenery and such that could be implemented in Planet Coaster. Zoo Tycoon also uses the Cobra engine, so it's IMHO fair to say that the content may be compatible.

It doesn't sound too crazy to me to think that Frontier may reuse that stuff and adding the Planet Coaster's UI (seems that the main problem of Zoo Tycoon is the UI) plus some other tweaks as a fast way to have an expansion.

After all many of us dream and would be willing to pay for an animal park expansion. And although maybe it's not the best game ever, Zoo Tycoon has some really cute animal models an animations.

If its been working on probably we won't know until it's in advanced stages... Anyway, seems that Frontier devs at least considered it, when they registered "Planet Safari".

I'm really not interested in a stand alone.

People that say zoo doesn't fit in theme park just don't know what their talking about. Beside if the expension is done correctly, you may not have to put down any flat ride and coaster if you don't want too, but if you do want to make a animal kindom/seaworld, you can.

Indeed, that claim doesn't seem to be much sound, there are many theme parks that feature real animal attractions, some of them are in the most visited amusement park top 50, for instance:
- 7. Disney's Animal Kingdom
- 22. SeaWorld Orlando
- 27. Busch Gardens Tampa
- 36. SeaWorld San Diego
- 43. Six Flags Great Adventure
- 45. Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Even Disneyland Anaheim (the original) featured animal rides when it opened, in Frontierland.

Agree. There's definitely nothing stopping them from doing it, not least realism. With that said, I think it's safe to say that a Safari add on to PC is at least 5 years away. There's plenty of theme park related things this game could do with expansions yet, like physicsy water rides, carnival style sideshows/rides, scary stuff etc.

Are you talking about the Pack Mule Ride?! Hahaha.... I'd still rather have animal animatronics like those found on the Jungle Cruise (and your favorite ride, Thunder Mountain) for PC. As long as we get Animal Animatronics, I'd be OK with a Zoo/Wild type add-on.

Also, I'm tired of hearing "stop asking for animatronics, we are going to get UGC for that... " If this UGC is going to be so awesome, they should have just made Planet UGC instead of Planet Coaster!

I have no idea on what are Frontier plans on that end, if they have any plans at all.

We only know that they do have a lot of animal finished models and animations, as well as other animal related-stuff already optimised for the engine from Zoo Tycoon. So that's something that could be used sooner or later in a possible computer standalone game or Planet Coaster expansion/addon.

I loved building the enclosures / habitats for the animals in rct3. If we had the same level of detail as we have with PC with a zoo tycoon / planet safari expansion I would love that.
