Elite / Frontier Frontier Elite 2 - Amiga Version

I'm so pleased to have found this thread! I've been playing Frontier on my Amiga for a bit now and have found some of the trade routes useful that are on a site listed earlier in this thread I think.

I'm gearing myself up to do assassinations and get on in my military career. I completed my first assassination last night (forgot how addictive this can be - I had a 5am start and that turned out to be painful!). I'd read about not turning up too early for these jobs and it went well - I figure that a lot of my early attempts failed because I'd been hanging around for weeks before hand...

Anyway. Hi everyone!

(Cobra MkIII, 4MW Beam, cloud analyser, Naval ECM, etc. :) )

I think that the target not turning up is a bug. You're best off saving your game before accepting a mission and then not saving over that particular file until you've completed it.

I agree. FE2 is *THE* version of Elite for me. I play it all the time. Absolutely adore it. Adore the stardreamer, I can watch planets move, sunsets, sunrises and I love I can do a slignshot around planets. I also play the Amiga version all the time. (4 times just this week alone).

Sounds advice just in case ;)

Glad I found this thread. Been so long since I played the Frontier version I have forgotten much. So you did have to purchase permits. And all that crazy slingshot stuff I did was with Frontier and not some other game that some have suggested was the case. Think they never even played the game and just don't want to believe how much less of a game ED is turning out to be.

If the ED turns out they way it is looking most of us will ditch it and continue to play the better game called Frontier.

Hello Doolittle.
Yes I did have to purchase permits. It would have been good if there were a lot more but remember it was an amazing feat for 1993. Yes it was FE2 that you would have done orbital slingshots and let the momentum carry you....yep that's the one.

ED is a very different game to Frontier Elite 2. There are indeed many fans of FE2, I play it all the time (Amiga version). Whilst it is true you can't slingshot in ED due to the way the physics model works and FA Off is not really the same, the combat/flight model is completely different, there is always FE2 and the like we can all enjoy. You can find advocates for both models. My personal preference is FE2 hands down.

ED won't be everyones cup of tea but we always have FE2 we can play :) Plenty for everyone to enjoy :)

As you can see from my Sig I have several copies. At the moment I am flying a Panther Clipper, my FE2 is the latest one with the latest patch so that makes it v1.04 I believe.

The Krait was always a fun ship, but it just always seemed too small to fit exactly what you wanted to have.

With sharks teeth they just looked glorious :D
