I imagine this comment will be attacked by holier than though frontier or life supporters.
I'll be honest here, starting your post by insulting part of your audience isn't likely to get you a hugely positive response. You raise some valid points (which I'll come to) but you'll find that your views will probably be reinforced as those who identify with your blanket "holier than though frontier or life supporters" defend themselves rather than consider the content of your post.
But Maybe we should all refuse to purchase JWE unless they talk to us about the intentions on further supporting Planet Coaster. IMO they dont seem to think our opinions matter or communicating with their fanbase matters.
If they didn't think that our opinions mattered, or that they weren't interested in supporting PC, they'd shut down the forums and stop doing livestreams. The majority of people who view the livestreams at this point are *not* potential new customers, they're for the existing community.
I am really looki g forward to JWE but I have no intention of purchasing a game from a company who doesnt value its fans the rest of you can do as you want but thats my two cents.. And I think it would be a strong statement to them .
I might be a "frontier or life supporter" in your opinion, but having met the team numerous times I can tell you for a fact that they *do* value their community. However, the policy that they employ - and have employed for a long time - is to release information about their games only when they feel it's right to do so. And that means when they're confident that their plans will actually come to fruition. You see, in the past they have released information about what they'd *like* to do with their games or what their *current* plans are, and in some cases they either had to shelve or cut some of those features completely, and the community were critical of that. How would you feel if they stood up and said "as it stands we're planning on a <xyz> expansion to the game, should be out next year" then some change of plan happens and that never gets released? Would you be here supporting them for their openness and candour, or would you be railing against them for not fulfilling their promises? I can guarantee you that a significant chunk of the community would be in the latter camp, so I completely get why Frontier sometimes keep their cards close to their collective chests.
Talk to us.. You dont have to tel us specifically what you are doing but hey. Remember developer diaries.. Those are good things. There are still things broken in this game from updates that were done a year ago.
That's the thing, they *do* talk to us. They've told us many times that they haven't abandoned this game. But we can read between the lines: it doesn't make sense for them to have the same level of development on maintenance of the game as during development, so things will necessarily take longer. While PC sold well, it would be absolute folly for Frontier to spend all the money they made on the game on continued development if their business forecasts don't show that work making similar levels of profit. Working on a franchise like JWE where there's a large existing community (JP:OG fans) and a large potential customer base (Jurassice World fans) will help Frontier remain a stable and successful company and generate revenue that can be spent on both new and existing franchises. It may very well be that how JWE performs will inform how Frontier treat PC going forward, but (and this is a large caveat) it's not something that they can tell us *anything* about as it may have a material effect on their share price and it may put them in breach of their shareholders' trust.
There are bugs reported in the bugs and feedback that are being ignored. Examples. The fairytale roofs have white stripes across the roof that werent there before the spring/summer update. When reported we got nithing.. And its still not fixed. Autosave doesnt work properly. I myself just tonight lost w hrs of work because the game crashed and it didnt autosave for 2 hrs. These are on the default settings. We have reported these issues as well. What we get back. Is that autosave is working as intended. These are just two things wrong of many.
If there are bugs in the game, I would suggest continuing to post about them. If autosave doesn't work and can cause you to lose progress, then that is certainly *not* working as intended, and if you've been told that (in those words) then push back. There's a certain quality of life we can expect as gamers and losing progress because of a bug is something that we should certainly *not* expect. Yes, there are bugs, but there are also priorities: some bugs will never be fixed (or take a long time) because they have no significant impact either on playability or quality-of-life. Some bugs might already have been fixed in an internal build but waiting for the next major release. If there's a prevalent autosave bug, then I'd be extremely disappointed if Frontier were just burying it.
I havent posted on these forums in a long time because it seems the consensus is that frontier can do no wrong. And will argue you to death that they are right.
I disagree. I think that most people who post here are pretty balanced in their opinions. Like any forum, there will be those who have strong opinions one way or another, and who are vociferous in them. But like most forums, we have tools to help you. If you feel that someone is attacking you (and not your post) and you feel they're in violation of the rules, please report them. If they're not violating the rules but you find they have a negative effect on your enjoyment of the forums, you are free to use the forum's ignore feature.
Comments in this very thread shows exactly what I mean. I personally love the game.. I plan to play it for a very long time same as I played RCT3 for 12 years. But why support a company that doesnt want to support its fans. We should be given something.. Anything just tell us yes you are working on an update.. New dlc. Or you are doing the last patch for the game and moving on to other things. Instead of leaving us in silence. My two cents. Take it or leave it. I dont care which you do.
But you clearly *do* care what they do, or you wouldn't be here making your feelings known. There's nothing wrong with that!
Personally, I would very much like to know what Frontier plan to do next with Planet Coaster. Pragmatically though, I understand why they aren't committing to anything right now and I also respect that choice.
