General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

It's crazy, the bother trying to hide the stream when everyone will get to see it first hand in a few hours anyway!!

Oh wait a minute... the guys that don't get the stream have to pay to see the game now... I get it...

Yeah, not too surprising that they made an effort to hide the awful. [rolleyes] GAWD I feel belittled with the whole explanation of the controls and the menu...

No ill will to RCTW at all and as others have said I hope Atari can eventually make a good game...

But, that live stream is really not showing the game in a good light at the moment.

Looks like something from the mid 1990s not the mid 2010s.

I'm actually pitying the game after watching 10 minutes of the stream. It's painful to watch them go over pretty much everything that was in RCT3. It also does not come across as organized as a whole. Also Community Manager Adam comes across as not being very enthusiastic which does not help either. Like the doom and gloom surrounding the game has hit at least him in some way.

Agree, i have stated numerous times that i really feel bad for atari as i really believe they are passionate and really do their best. And ofcourse i wish everyone their success.
That being sad, at the same time i just can't help but to laugh a little as well. After all the mistakes and all the dissapointments they just keep putting on their pokerface like nothing is wrong. Even in the last video you could SEE nook being awkward but trying to keep on his pokerface.

During the last 10 minutes i was watching his face, and watching the chat, watching the face, the chat... and i really felt like he was close to either walk away, scream or cry.
It's so diffucult, i wish them all the succes in the world, competition is good. But when you're so ignorant in attitude, you almost ask for people to laugh at you.

And thats what im doing right now, i laugh at them because partially they deserve it. Even tough i really wish them well and really hope the game will do good in the future.

Yes joking aside, I was hoping that this game would at least look better than it did in the stream and I wasn't expecting it to look as bad as it did. I very much doubt it will ever come close to Planet Coaster. I think we all wanted this game to be a good game in the early days, but somehow, they just don't seemed to have got their act together. It's a shame really, because if Atari had took on board the community like Frontier have, then things may have been a lot better.

I will always give credit where it is due, but for a 2016 game, RCTW is not up to 2016 standards. So having said that, it isn't really going to get any better than it is now, no matter what they build into future updates of the game. I really think that Atari were relying on the Tycoon name to sell this game and many people have been fooled into thinking that this game was the follow up to RCT3, which in reality it isn't. Planet Coaster is the real successor to the previous game of the genre.

However, for all it's bad press a lot of people are going to buy this game and a lot of people already have, but in the long term a lot of people are going to be very disappointed with it and a lot of people will just not bother playing it, once Planet Coaster reaches the final release. I think I can safely say, that Planet Coaster is going to appeal to everyone who loves Theme Park Games at the end of the day and RCTW will slowly fade from popularity as time goes on. THere was room for two games of this genre to run alongside with each other, but RCTW just isn't in the same leauge for a 2016 game. And that is top and bottom of it really! [yesnod]

Sawyer - you trolling Mattlab or actually genuinely looking forward to RCTW? [where is it] Perhaps the latter to re-affirm the notion that PC is where it's at [up]

I am looking forward to getting my hands on it personally and do wish them good luck with the launch because 2 games means they will push each other!

I've been quite open here, there and on Theme Park Simulation Games FB page. I don't want RCT to fail but I hate how it's been marketed.

Sure they game looks pretty bad, but until I get my hands on it I can't judge it really fairly. I have not much hope tbh.

I think Atari really do have to take quite a lot of the blame actually. It's one thing to wish the best to the underdogs, sometimes great things can be achieved with limited resources...

But the reality is, they announced it would be a 'AAA' game, and 'The best RCT to date'. So they chose to set the expectation very high, and they were also very happy to take pre-orders as soon as they could. Then, somewhere along the line they ended up employing the services of a mobile game developer (area52)!! That's like me promising you a Michelin star dinner and sneaking of to buy it at McDonald's after billing you for it upfront. So they were dishonest from the very start, and the dishonesty has continued throughout. There are so many examples of it.

I have no problem with indie companies making indie games. I love it! And really, Atari essentially are an indie of sorts now - and they should take a very different approach when marketing their games. They should also be much more realistic about what scope of game they can really make given the limited resources they have. RCT games are BIG games. They never had the pockets or frankly the experience on board to make the game they announced.

It is sad now, because essentially we have to watch Atari squirm knowing that there is nothing they can really do. The game might be 'OK' with lots more work, but it would take a re-write to get it up to the standard we initially hoped for. But right from the start, it really has been their own doing.

Many of us at Nvizzio have read almost every post in this forum over the past 12 months. You have already had a big influence on the development of RollerCoaster Tycoon World in the past year, but this is our first “developer” post.

Tomorrow is a special day for us at Nvizzio; you, the true fans of the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, will finally be able to play RCTW. I speak in the name of everyone here at Nvizzio when I say that we are both excited and impatient.

Excited, because we can’t wait to share the game in its current state with you tomorrow. We will keep tweaking and adding new features throughout the Early Access period and beyond. As we are now fine-tuning, polishing and testing the very last build before release tomorrow —yes, the build that is going to be released to YOU tomorrow- we see amazing coasters and parks, beautiful graphics, stunning details, rich and deep AI, a great UGC system, and so much more. I want to share with all of you that all our programmers, artists, designers, testers and producers have been 100% committed to creating an awesome RollerCoaster Tycoon experience. As such, I feel a great sense of respect and loyalty towards their hard work and dedication. I also want to share with you that Atari has been an amazing publishing partner, fully respecting the RollerCoaster Tycoon brand and fully supporting us.

At the same time, we are now incredibly impatient because we can’t wait to take RCTW much, much further in the coming weeks and months. Speaking of which: we have already started – months ago - working on a lot of the upcoming features so we should have a nice and smooth rollout in the coming months. The RCTW team here at Nvizzio is full of energy and passion and it’s truly amazing to see how they all love the brand.

So tomorrow is only the beginning for us: we have a clear roadmap which we are fully committed to, and we will keep working as efficiently and as hard we possibly can to ultimately create the best and highest-quality RollerCoaster Tycoon game ever. And we won’t stop until we reach that goal. In order to achieve this extremely high ambition, we need your input, feedback, help, ideas, suggestions (and also criticisms) as much as you are willing to contribute.

I can only thank you in advance for your support and involvement with the continued development of RCTW.

Sincerely, from all of us at Nvizzio,

Yves Legris
