Why are people complaining about DLC

For me, PC just derailed. It´s going the wrong direction, entirely.

Ranging from the latest free update announcement, that is at best, dissapointing, to DLC strategy and the fact the game still hase major problems with some tools or some tools and features are missing.

Not saying they don´t give much thought about where they go with the game. Making dark-ride oriented DLC for PC at this stage was rly crazy decision... Now I wish they take a month break, sit at the table and set some solid course for the further development. More and more I feel they actually have no idea where they need to go....

I wish they would have given us a roadmap of whats to come like they did for Elite.

Yes, they are not very transparent with the development. I also think they much more focus on paid DLCs than the free updates, which seems not to be good idea.

I think its a great idea .. People at Frontier need to eat as well :)
Im more surprised we are getting stuff for free so often actually.

Well, I will reuse a quote from one of the moderators here:

"For those of us that live in the real world "- economics and customer behaviour is not that simple. Thing being free =/= no extra income.

The other thing is that I don´t mind the paid DLC, I mind how it is implemented. And I mind that it might affect the development of the free updates. These free updates are needed as the game is broken/unifinished in many aspects. Adding more content won´t fix that. It´s yet not that bad, but it is VERY similar to what RCTW devs did. Instead of really trying to fix the game, they started adding more PbP stuff.

You mean like the homeless people without electricity? I think employees of Frontiers all have well furnished homes, this is not a charity case, they are a multi-million dollar company. Please don't compare a company like Frontier to homeless/starving people because I don't think you know what it's like to actually be in need of food.

you know what we never got? a classic haunted house flat ride [blah]
I think the Spooky track rides plus scenery is supposed to fill that gap -- we can make our own haunted houses now.

That having been said, a hall of mirrors or funhouse would be good. But a walk-path (similar to RTC3P's golf) or maze would still be better than a static flat, IMHO.

We had both in RCT3, the Haunted Mansion flat ride was one of the few rides you could not ride in first-person, but it still feels like a must have ride

as much as I would love this, I dont think well ever see functioning mirrors. Hopefully mazes will be released soon tho [up]

After thinking about this for a while, this is where I feel like they screwed up. PC is a game that's very focused on design, it's part of the game play. So releasing a much requested (and expected to come for everyone) theme as a DLC is a bit of a slap in the face. What they should have done, and what games like Cities Skyline has done, is to release something that's not like a small addition as a DLC, but something that's more in the lines of a big new feature that changes the game a bit. Midway games would've been a great example. Weather/seasons another. Dark Rides with walls that completely black out the inside of buildings is a third. And of course a Zoo and water park expansion as bigger additions. Couple each DLC release with some free content as well, a new ride maybe, new objects, new path textures, etc.

It's kind of what they hinted at doing early on, each new addition becomes like a major thing, but also if you're not interested in that specific thing you wouldn't buy it and won't feel like you're missing out on basics in the game. There's so much in the spooky pack that feels like it should be in the game already, that's what doesn't sit right with me.

@Stream - I agree with you, but a lot of people don't care about management or scenarios, and many people would rather see more DLC construction kits. I don't know why anybody would be against having bigger add-ons or expansions, but I have a feeling well get something bigger eventually, its just going to take a long time to get there. Hopefully the devs have been working on QoL/UI improvements that they have not announced yet too

Some people care about management, some about designing. However I think at this point, game is not good enough at neither thing.

Some tools are great, some ok, some broken or even missing. And when you actually try to combine paths, rides, buildings and scenary, this is where the nightmare begins. They didn´t even get something as basic as object selection tool right. And now they going to give us a shower of paid DLCs with more content I´m not going to enjoy, because PC cannot handle dark rides (for this particular DLC) and building something is actually not very enjoyable with tools in current state.

I uninstalled PC yesterday, as I gave up. I will keep watching how things go, but for me, there is no reason to play the game. It needs some urgent fixes and additions...

Maybe it didn't come out right, but I meant that theming and construction kits should still come, just for free. But to release a spooky pack behind a pay wall is just... it gives a lot of people a bad taste in their mouth I feel.

I haven't played the game in probably 6 months, I cannot get past the path system, it's so frustrating to me that I rather just not play and just watch other people play instead.

I said I agreed with you, but I don't think everything should be free, I just wish the paid-DLCs had more to offer

Gotcha!

I agree as well. I would love to see a proper expansion as well. I am afraid we won't see something like an expansion any time soon. If Frontier are working on an expansion, surely they would have mentioned it during the Frontier Expo, even if they have nothing to show yet, if they had plans they would have said so.

For those complaining about DLC etc. Id suggest watching the following to understand a little of where games are currently and are heading. Gives a good wrap up.

So i guess you can do the following.
Stop playing and move on to something else...
Buy them and enjoy what you get...
Take a stand and maybe in time something happens...

I personally have no problem paying for extra content if its good, adds further game play and further supports a good developer if they are delivering on said product.
Extra's like merchandise or even backing a developer on the likes of kickstarter or similar other forms for example. However things like phone app microtransactions if its only a pointless cash grab can go jump of bridge.

While not everyone sees it as fair or affordable, others do.

Sight, people clearly still don´t understand what are all the complains about....
