I meet all of the minimum requirements except for the processor. I have an i3 (2.9 GHz) instead of an i5. Will it still work okay?
I was afraid of that, but good to know, thank you!
I should probably start looking for new computer in that case. The current system requirements are subject to change but is that about what kind of specs I should aim for? Or are the requirements expected to raise/lower?

You should aim for much higher than the minimum. If you are playing Planet Coaster for hours there is no reason to buy a new computer at the minimum (maybe should be called the slide show mode), get something that can run large parks in a smooth high FPS manner. Get something with an Intel i5 or i7 and is close to 4GHz. Then get a computer with the new AMD 470 or 480 graphics cards(comes out end of June), or step up to the Nvidia 1070.
If I have to get a new computer anyway might as well go big or go home. My budget's pretty tight at the moment but I have several months to get things sorted out before the game is released I suppose.
For a CPU, no less then 8 threads! This game loves the CPU.
Video card, I agree with Bergenia Tanoak, AMD RX480 is an insane video card for the money it will run PC great! If it struggles on a huge park, get a second one and crossfire them. More powerful then the GTX1080 and costs less!
Feel free to post asking for help later. Let us know your budget and where you live and we can help you figure it out.
Is there a specific thread for that I should post in or is here okay?
This is the perfect place to post it. [up]
An Intel i5 that is clocked fast and only has 4 threads can run the came fine. With AMD on the other hand 8 core cpu would definitely be recommended because they are cheap and is needed to reach the performance of the Intel counterparts.
Does this game take advantage of multi core CPUs effectively? As far as I am aware the majority of games don't.
Okay great! [big grin] I'm in the US. As for budget, again, that's going to be fairly small. I'd like to try and spend $100 or less on each component if I can help it. If I have to spend a little more though I'll find a way to do it.
Fortunately my dad had a spare tower lying around that he said I can use so thankfully I don't need to buy an entirely new computer, just need to give it the proper upgrades and I should be set! I'll need to check what the specs are on that one but it is a slightly older gaming computer so I will still probably need to upgrade at least the processor and graphics card. I'm already factoring in what the OS upgrade will cost.
Hey Everyone,
So I love the look of Planet Coaster, but I really don't know if I can run it. My specs are:
Intel Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz
Intel HD Graphics
Windows 8.1
6GB RAM
I'm pretty sure I can't run it, but I want to play so badly! Can I play it on my boyfriend's PC until I can buy a new PC (my current one is an all-in-one so no upgrades for me [cry])
Unfortunately you won't be able to play the game with those specs. Sorry.
Don't forget to check what is compatible with the motherboard and BIOS.
The way I understand I'd just need to get a new motherboard if it's incompatible, yeah?
