The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Thanks for the reply. I was actually thinking of buying a laptop with this graphics card. Would a 960m be much better?

This might sound stupid, but how do you start a thread?

The 950M and the 960M are practically identical except that the 960M has a higher clockspeed. 914MHz vs 1029MHz. So a bit more than 10% faster likely. How either will perform is unfortunately also dependent on how good the laptop cooling is. All these cards will throttle their speed down so they don't get hotter than 80C (somewhere around there). So it is possible that if the manufacturer cheaps out on the cooling that the 960M would run at the same clockspeed as the 950M.

My comment regarding limiting the number of guests still is there. Laptops don't have the fastest processors, so you'll still be limited. Get the model that has an Intel i5, and has the highest GHz possible for your budget. Also 980m is better than the 970m is better than the 960m is better than the 950m.

Some people on here have a cheap laptop for portability then they bought a nice gaming desktop where they get more for their money.

There are likely new mobile graphics cards coming out in the next few months, because of the release of all new desktop cards for the desktop. There will probably be sales on the old laptop models, maybe a 980m could be had for cheaper, or one of the new mobile cards will be really good for cheaper.

New Thread creation? There is a big "Post new thread" button at the top left, sort of under the logo.

Heyho!

Can anyone please tell me whether this System will be able to run Planet Coaster well?

- AMD FX-6350
- 8GB of RAM
- GTX 970
- Win 10 64-Bit

I would be very happy if someone helped me[noob]

Thanks. I was thinking of getting one of these two:
laptopsdirect.co.uk/asus-n552vw-intel-core-i7-6700hq-16gb-1tb-128gb-ssd-nvidia-geforce-940m-d-n552vw-fy094t/version.asp
https://www.amazon.co.uk/YunSen-Gra...p/B01EWY5II8?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0#

I'd ideally like to spend as little as possible. Which one should I go for in your opinion?

Also, the "post new thread" button still isn't showing up for me.

Asus laptops are well regarded here in the US. They have good parts for the cost. The processors and ram look good. See my comment to the below request about the graphics in that laptop.

As I wrote before, the Nvidia 960m and 950m are essentially the minimum for Planet Coaster. I find it hard to recommend buying the minimum specification. If I didn't need the laptop right now I'd hold off and see how the optimizations (and graphics adjustments) go on Planet C and see if buying the minimum becomes OK. If you want to buy something now than, overbuying is really the only way. Look for a laptop with the 970m or 980m. There is also the strong chance the Nvidia is releasing new graphics chips for laptops, and they will be faster for the same battery use.

Your GTX 970 GPU is much faster than the minimum. A lot of the Twitch streamers have the 970. The 970 is a very popular graphics card. Your CPU is above the minimum, but not buy much. Planet coaster is fairly CPU heavy. I think your are at a point that I can recommend you buy the preorder release game, so you can get the current discount. If you have extra money go for the Alpha access. Try it out. Otherwise, sell your CPU and motherboard, and upgrade to a faster Intel system. If you are tech savvy, you could see if your motherboard supports overclocking, and see if you can get the FX-6350 any faster, I would not spend any money on a better cooler(There are some good $30 to $40 coolers out there...), I'd want that to go to a new Intel system.

It would run Planet Coaster fine, but it would be hard to define exactly how well it would run the game, because that is also dependant on how much stuff you will build in your parks. You should be fine, but fine can be relative, so honestly I don't. I do know that if you walk into technical issues with Planet Coaster and you have not played the game for more than a few hours, you should be able to ask for a refund through Frontier Support if you want to.

Your system will likely run Planet Coaster quite well. As I have said above, it also depends on how much stuff you build in your parks. The more stuff there is, the more powerful your computer needs to be to render everything and to run the simulation smoothly.

Hi all

Do you think my laptop will be able to run the game?

Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-3630QM @2.4GHz
8 GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 610M

Thanks to all you wonderful people who understand what these numbers mean!

I've found that Planet Coaster does quite well (even before final optimization) on my system.

Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4470 @ 3.4 GHz
8GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 680

My system is similar to yours (slightly better CPU and GPU, but not by much).

As a test, I downloaded the excellent park from CoasterKing that won the Community Creations contest. I expected that such a complex park would bring my system to its knees.... but it didn't. I had some slight stutters once or twice, but it was certainly playable and fairly smooth.

That being said, I plan to update my GPU soon, simply because the new Nvidia 1080 and 1070 cards will eventually push down the price of a 980ti to an affordable range (currently down to about $419 on Newegg).

After the initial rush on the 1080 and 1070, I may just wait and buy one of those when the over-inflated prices come down to earth.

if the hardware features of either laptop isn't a problem, I'd say go for the dell. has a more performance cpu, and a gaming graphics chip with 4GB vram, compared to the multimedia graphics chip of the MSI laptop

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a new PC in eager anticipation of purchasing the game on full-release. I am usually quite good at PC specs but for reassurance would love a bit of advice on the system I am looking at purchasing... Any suggestions, recommendations are welcome...

AMD X4 880K CPU
◾16GB 1600Mhz DDR3
◾AMD Radeon™ R9 380 4GB
◾120GB SSD + 1TB HDD
◾Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 Motherboard
◾Windows 10

Hi, everyone...So well, this topic is pretty long, but I'll put my specs in, and maybe someone can tell me if my system will run this game. I've been thinking about getting RCTW, but I've had a lot of people recommend PC instead. It looks great from what I've seen so far, and I'd like to think I could try it.

* MSI GT72 6QD 'Dominator'
*Win10 Home 64bit
* 6th Gen Intel i7 6820HK @ 2.7Ghz {can be boosted to over 3.5Ghz in "Sport Mode"}
*16GB DDR4 2133 {can be doubled}
*GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5 {can be upgraded, drivers updated regularly}
*1TB HDD {can add SSD x2}
*MoBo is a mystery {can't even get specs from MSI site...but it seems to get the job done}

Your system will run the game. It won't lag and you will maybe even be able to play it on 'higher' graphic settings, depending on the optimizations the devs will do until release.

i had a 6700k system i built and sold the build because i hated it.i ended up building a new 4790k build at 4.6 ghz at 1.2v and my max cpu temp is 58c.32 gb of ddr3 2133 and a gtx 1070.i found out real quick newer generation doesn't always mean better. for anyone willing to get there hands a little dirty you can build a pretty fast computer yourself for a decent price.

I bought the system outlined a few months back, with the idea that I would get RCTW. But now I just keep reading about people's complaints about it, and I see the constant updates and fixes. Because of personal time contraints, I have only really tried RCT3 and MS Flight Simulator X on this system. RCT3 runs beautifully and (after all these years) can finally build a park that takes up the whole play space with a few thousand peeps with the game on maxed settings. FSX is another story. It runs, but when I tried cranking all the settings to max, it hardly runs - crashes even. I figure it's either because it's an older game, and maybe there are compatlibilty issues - or the game is just too complex for its own good.

I could build a system (I had one I put together in 2007, which was fairly kicking at the time, that lasted until a few years ago), but right now my biggest obstacle is time due to personal family related issues. I just hope this new machine I have will handle PC.
