Dried up but some good news

Another week and very few OR's for europe.

On the other hand those GTX 980 specs look great for Rifts with the sli doing one lens each.

They just took my payment and changed my status to Processing should be shipping real soon... just in time for Beta 2. Hopefully we'll get proper support for the Rift in Beta 2.

So is there any chance of improved Rift support coming to Beta 2? Been eagerly looking forward to this, but it doesn't sound like there's any word so far.

I hope that! ;)

I didn't play ED now because I want to wait for better DK2 Support, would be bad when it didn't came with Beta2...

Sorry, I should have put myself on this list. I got my DK2 last week.

Works great in E:D but needs tweaking (I guess each user/face will vary) to get the best setup. Mine ended up with the physical and software settings set to opposites instead of matching and one of each lens (to correct a vision problem).
I also disassembled and fitted a Note 3 matt screen guard which softens the image a little helping with chromatic aberration and almost removing the screen door effect.

ED works great but the single most amazing bit in the Rift? - Jumping to another system, the AMOLED screen's contrast ratio is stunning.

Perhaps it's in one of the unannounced items coming in the next 10 days?

God I hope so. I've found that difficulty reading the menus is the one thing that's stopping me from playing. I'm disappointed it wasn't one of the announced features. I'll be bitterly disappointed if it's not at all in Beta 2.

Tell me more. Does it help with readability of text in game? The trading menu is especially hard to read.

So it looks like the 980 GTX has been optimized for Rift support.

... and I still have 10 days left on my 780's step up window with EVGA ...

... are you thinking what I'm thinking? :D

(seriously though, I cannot recommend the EVGA guys highly enough, I will never buy a graphics card from another manufacturer).

Is there any information out there yet on exactly how the GTX 980 support the Rift, and how it boost performance (other than with just raw power of course)?

here is the $64,000 question:
When is the predicted date of the CV1 release?

and..

is it going to have higher res than DK2?
is it going to have lower than 3ms persistence?
and what is the refresh rate predicted to be?

and

will the new breed of Nvidia cards help in these issues?

sorry for all the questions, but I am really looking into investing in OR and trying to gather as much info/speculation as possible.

You can go here http://www.anandtech.com/show/8526/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review/5 and check the VR direct chapter.
This is all very nice, it will do nothing until it is properly supported so maybe a year or so, but I'm really happy that they decided to support VR solutions. No we know what to aim for in the future, 980 SLI, monster power supply and CV1, will be expensive but should work nicely.
