Dark rides are just rides enclosed in a giant box- they don't have the visual impact that open rides do. Not worth their time.

A Darkride isn't just in a giant box! If you make a Darkride in rct3 with just a giant box, then you are very special because it isn't possible without custom scenery.

Alstublieft (Dutch word)
WTH ???1. No need to resort to personal attacks.
2. You just gave another reason why they aren't worth the time.
3. When playing the game you are, almost exclusively, "floating" above the theme park- so all you see are giant "boxes" or "showrooms-" not what's inside them. Little to no visual impact. Compare:

WTH ???
Are you just serious Milkman ? Or just a big troll ? [weird]
Do you really think we play a game like this for a marketing reason ? So we need that the game be nice in the "god view" to have amazing screenshots anytime ?
Do you realize how this is meaningless ? Did you know that nothing prevents you to thematise the exterior of the building ?
This is a the exterior of a darkride made by a player for exemple :

And even if the "top view" NEED to be amazing in all circumstances (which is dumb),
Are you saying that the "Space Mountain - Mission 2" is ugly in the top view ? [weird]

The cool thing about this type of game is the freedom to make everything you want, Darkrides included.
All the things about Darkrides is to play it in the first person view, like with the coaster cam in RCT3, and there is nothing (literally nothing) more visual in the all game than Darkrides, because it's the largest concentration of custom scenery, smoke effects, light effects, and animated objects.
It's also one of the reason why RCT3 is still played after many years.
And also the coolest ride to design (equally with coasters/darkcoasters)
Personally, I dont care if I have something pretty in the top view (besides, I even hope that we can make "hangars", to create something more realistic), because the goal with Darkrides or Darkcoaster, is the same with the coaster tool : the result in the first person view mode !
Dare say that this "outdoor/indoor darkride", is not visual :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jhW3_Ka1io
And you say that is a waste of time ?
It's 2015 now, which mean this is a full 3D game, not a isometric one like RCT1&2 ...
Come on ... [rolleyes]
I'm not attacking anyone, I just reply to a troll message (because yes, saying that a feature expected by thousands of players worldwide is a "waste of time" or "darkrides are not visual" when they are the most visual rides in the game is clearly the definition of a troll)I don´t like how you Angelis and Randychimp are constantly attacking People with other opinions. Milkman is right in his opinion and he has a right to communicate this!!!!

If he has the right to say this kind of things, I have the right to reply too [up]
Sorry if that bothers you.

Quite a bit of references are being made to RCT.
I was under the impression that Planet Coaster is a new IP?
I'm not agree because it's precisely the principle of debate of ideas. Especially on a discussion forum. No, I mean you did this with Palaber with me with milkmam, everyone who has a dissenting opinion. Yes of course, dark rides can be interesting and I like them too, but I feel atacked by all this and it´s every time a bit brisk. So, I think the developers will know what to do, we all have to calm down and let opinions be and don´t counteract every tiny difference from the own opinion. [up]
I guess it's because :Quite a bit of references are being made to RCT.
I was under the impression that Planet Coaster is a new IP?
I guess it's because :
- It's the most famous reference point
- It's from Frontier too (at least RCT3)
It's impossible to miss
I'm 100% ready for the fight, but let's do it in private message.
I send you a message immediately [yesnod][up]
@Angelis...but you cannot say that milkman is a troll, only because he has an other opinion than you. He has a valid point when he says that darkrides are not that easy to impress as flatrides...because darkrides only shows a building in the first place - which can be beautiful - and I want them too - but flatrides show a whole ride...and most people who play these kind of games aren't there for designing heavily themed parks...they look at plopable things and like them. And of course Frontier must do marketing on this game so I see why coasters, flatrides and waterrides are more important for them in the first phasis. But on the other side you've always seen the building tool and with it it's possible to build darkrides (at least on a basic level) and they'll improve the game after release. I think we should ttust Frontier![]()

I agree with you that the game is divided into two categories : those who love the management part (and therefore : prefabs structures/stalls/flatrides/etc...) and those who love the design (and therefore : building tools/darkrides/restaurants/modding/etc...)@Angelis...but you cannot say that milkman is a troll, only because he has an other opinion than you. It's, sadly, the opposite for now ...But on the other side you've always seen the building tool and with it it's possible to build darkrides (at least on a basic level) and they'll improve the game after release. I think we should ttust Frontier![]()
