PvP I Was Ganked

I'd like some clarity on this technique.

1: When you 'submit' do you push a button to do that? Throttle down? What are you doing the moment the interdiction graphics come up on the screen?
2: Are you initiating high wake before you even drop out?
3: Is low wake out an option?

I'm not clear on how to avoid the cool down period. (or how to reduce it)

1. Throttle to zero
2. Select next hyperspace system
3. Pips to shields, boost past your attacker
4. 10 secs is all you need to high wake.

You can try to low wake BUT the PvP ship's mass will slow you down, do it's best to just high wake.

Good luck

As always, Ethlered is on the money.

The only other things I'd add are pretty much ship dependent.

If you're small and fast and they ain't, pop chaff (as rule of thumb, most low tier gankers roll gimballed builds) and spam boost the moment you're back in normal space. You'll be outside their effective weapon range before they know what's going on.

If you're slogging away in a bigger ship, make sure you're carrying a few well placed stern arc covering Point defence turrets to try to minimise the chance of being 'Grommed'.

Finally in closing, if you do die, reflect on the mistakes made by yourself and adjust your build or tactics accordingly.

A while back I jokingly opened an 'Open PvE bar' thread to discuss these things. Unfortunately, mods moved it around so much not many people saw it, but there is a good treasure trove of information within it once you get passed the usual white noise.

My routine for the murder hobo's.
1: Throttle to zero and submit to the interdiction.
2: As soon as you drop, Chaff (Doesn't hurt to do this as they may be running turrets or gimbals
3: Hot key, target next system in route.
4: Boost then put 4 pips to shields, FA off, flip turn and boost past bad guy.
5: High wake to avoid mass lock.

One note to clarify about "target next system in route" hot key. This is useless until you select a next system in the galmap. Once you arrive in your destination system, there is no "next system" so your first step should be to open the galmap and select a next system, then go on your merry way in supercruise knowing your hot key is enabled.

I always submit if its a CMDR pulling me (throttle zero). If I see more than 1 CMDRs in the instance, I immediately hit evasive boosts (macros) and initiate high wake to my "next system in route" via hot key. The cooldown period is not a factor. If its only 1 CMDR, I treat it like a duel and we fight.
But you need to set a Route before? I have read the note after that

I think being ganked means more than one opponent but you said it was 'A' player, guess you were just unlucky to come across someone who has a different idea on how the game should be played.
They do it precisely to see his salt on the forums which is why he shouldn't post at all. Simple pleasures for simple people.
I like it better when they hunt the exploit people instead of noobs but these are baby gankers remember.

Some people don't kill other players for salt... they do it because they are bored.
In a way that's fair enough although picking easy fights isn't much of a cure for boredom.

Without a PvP setup and no PvP experience beyond a little CQC I assume my chances of winning a fight are nil from anyone so I always try to escape. I still play in Open though because it at least makes it all a bit more exciting. Deciat was full of them the other day - should've had a route out planned but anyway. Jumped in, saw the scanner full of hollow shapes so set off in a random direction while I pulled up the nav screen. Interdiction started before I could jump out; it was a human CMDR but that one was easy enough to shake, but was immediately followed by another. That one wasn't going so well so I submitted (I always thought the cooldown was the same just as long as you submit before you lose?) and managed to high wake out before my shields went. I might've given that one a go for a fight if there weren't so many other people around that I was expecting more to drop in any second.

A problem I've had in the past (maybe a lag issue, my connection is not good) is that once it said I was winning the interdiction, well up in the blue, but I suddenly dropped anyway.

At any rate like I said it was a bit of excitement in a game where nothing else feels like much of a threat. Actually got my heart racing a bit (which is a bit worrying to be honest!) That said I then wimped in to Solo to return there. So whatever their motivations, I look upon the gankers as a source for livening things up a bit, even without fighting them. Most of the time it's rare to run in to anyone at all if not looking for them, let alone someone hostile so it shakes up the routine.

Keep intending to get in to PvP.

Keep an eye on comms chatter NPC's will normally say something to warn you they're after you.

Beware of scanner icons attempting to get behind you in supercruise, adjust your course if they follow suit it usually means trouble.

You can frustrate them by continually turning toward them in supercruise, continue to dance until they get bored and wander off.

You can initiate a jump to another system to get away but don't fly in a straight line until FSD is charged and you need to lock on to target system

Crash drop to normal space by the time they've locked on to your wake signal and drop in, your FSD will have cooled down enough for you to jump again.

If you see a comm '1v1? ' it's an offer to duel, you can try and negotiate to what point e.g. Offer to 20% hull

SD is a dangerous system. The place is full of gankers. I get jumped by wings of murderous individuals while I'm there every time.
Don't go there in Open unless you know how to get away / your ship is not made of paper.

I went to in my ASP to Eravate during PvP event not long ago.. just for giggles.. ASP was doing just fine, but unlike your ship ASP was quite tough. It's my bubble taxi with vehicle hangar and some cargo space.
