When someone can't even concede that in a situation where players can own multiple accounts that a figure of 40k accounts doesn't automatically equal 40k players, because they're that entrenched in their views that they're terrified of admiting a mistake to 'the enemy', you know it's probably not worth engaging further with them. Steam charts are representative of Steam users only, not the player base as a whole.
So there is no real reason to try and use them as "proof" of anything.

I'd guess you know if Frontier did a real poll, you know PvP/Open Only would lose by a large amount, that's why you support the one by a YouTuber.

If FD did an Open Powerplay poll I expect to see the same support it had in the forums here. Remember this is for Powerplay only.

Again: is it only I that wanna look at this as an opportunity for a different gamestyle? (Let's talk with the new semantics the Devs gave to us ). As I wrote before: we've got CQC, which is a different game in the game that gives advantages to the Players of the main game too (a system with 15% discount, if I remember well). Powerplay could be the same: a different Open Only instance available for Powerplayers only, a totally different mode with even different rules (such as 30 or even 60 seconds to logoff), accessible only by pledged players and that pledged players would be forced to play if they want to keep their merits.

We'd have:

• Open
• Powerplay (a special kind of Private Server)
• Private
• Solo

Would this be a good compromise, just in case? Of course it would be much easier to make it "Open Only", but let's try to make it a "space-wide CQC" mode. No more Powerplay Modules, just a more "competitive mmoprg" oriented gamestyle.

Or you wanna us all play the way you want? We're asking for an alternative, you're fighting so hard to deny that alternative to us. Fight against CQC too, at this point.

It forces people to take responsibility for their choices and their claims. If Open really is the toxic hive of scum and villainy that they say it is, if "ganking" is really what people do there, if PvE really is what they want, then go to Mobius and have your save specific to Mobius. That sucks, he was one of my favorites. He catches crap sometimes, but so did Devs like Ghostcrawler.

He made the streams fun. That willy wonka outfit turned him a legend. From what I understood hes working on another project, just not on Elite anymore.

FD are aware of it, and people like me keep reminding them that they need to either kill it, or improve it using the giant wads of feedback they got.

Giant wads? Made my day with that imagery. It reminds me of that scene in Airplane when the hit the fan.

Personally, I'd like to see FD do something with all those wads of POOP feedback. They really ought to or get off the pot and make a community statement.

I very much would like to see such a poll take place. Its a divisive issue, as was the ship transfer time one, so putting it to the same sort of poll would be a fair thing, and put to rest (well, as much as the ship transfer time one did) the question of how many people want to see this happen.

ed is dead as space. solo or multi wont change anything. there is still nothing to build. where is the interest when enabling 200 millions credit per play? why i cannot develop my own base or so? this would kick game interest. now i get attracted by nms... and feel i will end up with it sooner as expected

They blocked decent changes to gimbals, shields, scanners, armour and now when a singular feature that would benefit from the changes appears, they selfishly oppose it not because they care about that feature but because they invent hypothetical demons to scare others with.

Well, that's one way to totally dismiss the perfectly valid opinions of others.

Lets take that example I stated: back in the early days of 2.0 (I think) the devs floated an idea that was popular with combat players, in that they link sensor grade with gimbal efficacy. In effect only A/B grade would give you the gimbal performance of today making sensor choice more important. Result: out come the headbangers and FD back off from making sensors actually mean something in game. Shields also saw a look in, with weaker shields but a boost in armour. Again, out came the headbangers. Result: we now have monstrous shields.

In both these cases the fear of change made ED much poorer in depth, just 'because'.

Same deal with Open PP- several times its been said its for Powerplay only (the clue is in the name!). And yet, headbangers think that its for the whole game, becoming ever more hysterical even when you explain its benefits. I'll rationally debate and respect opinions of those who actually have a view coming from experience, but for the players who repeatedly wreck progress because it messes with 'their' game regardless I'll mercilessly mock them.

Well the sad reality is: he doesn't have solid arguments, then he can just attack people showing knowledge about matters he tries to talk about. He's basically here just to repeat the same thing ad infinitum, with the same wrong premises because he just doesn't know what he's talking about. Sadly I've seen the same technique abused in more serious matters but the model is always the same: accuse others to shut themselves down, claim their right to express their opinion etc.
