And there I wanted to reply some whitty comment about PvPers minmaxing their build to disable power for life support ...Back in the days before Engineers I used to run an eagle build with a grade A life support and burst lasers.
The life support and fuel scoop would.turn off to give you that 'TIE Fighter pilot' feel.
Good times...

why so many pvpers are not satisfied with fighting each other and need easy targets?
I have a very similar questions - how are many PvPers satisfied with instantly destroying "easy" targets? Last night I was ganked by a wing of three FDLs outside JM. I stuck my nose out into supercruise on purpose, knowing they were there (to their credit, at least they made it clear to everyone they were KOS gankers). Here's what went down:
I was in my Vulture, and I was interdicted by one of the FDLs. I decided to stay and fight, not expecting to win, but at least hoping for a little fun PvP. I actually held my own against the one FDL, and I was looking forward to trying some different tactics when his two buddies showed up. At that point it's just game over. One Vulture against three highly engineered FDLs (I got hit with almost every special effect there is to be had) - that's not a battle, that's not even PvP in my opinion. That's just a bunch of guys shooting tin cans in their back yard. So impressive... When I met the rebuy screen, I wasn't mad because my Vulture was blown up, I was mad because it was such a cheap, unsatisfying experience.
But surely it was dissatisfying for KOS team as well. Jameson was not overly busy on PS4 last night, so after instantly and effortlessly killing me, they got to sit in supercruise for however long, just twiddling their thumbs. What they should have done is let the FDL that interdicted me continue to fight me one-on-one. He still would likely have won, and they would have had a show to watch. If by some miracle he was in danger of losing or the ATR showed up, then I could see them stepping in.
I personally would be bored out of my mind playing the way this ganking wing plays. They seem like the type that are in it specifically for the salt / angst, not for any meaningful PvP. I'm not against wings, but if you're going to do that, make it at least a little challenging. Fly a wing of Vipers instead of FDLs. If you are truly good, you'll still win even against a big ship like a Cutter, and the battle will be more fun for everyone.
Yes you are.I'm not one to attack other players so I'm not a ganker apologist.
Oh please. If you're offended by "They (unnamed) seem like the type that are in it specifically for the salt / angst, not for any meaningful PvP," then perhaps "Open" forum isn't the place for you. It's called "Dangerous Discussions" after all, not "Carebear Discussions"The mind reading has to stop. I know it isn't intentional but whether they were bored, dissatisfied, mentally ill, whatever - it simply isn't for us to even guess at.
...
So while I agree with your points in spirit I really do think the mind reading stuff has to stop.
For me it's the stereotypical meta build of a Cutter or Corvette with G5 engineering, PP modules, Guardian enhancements, most expensive armors, etc, completely covered in shield boosters and filled with SCBs.. I have zero interested in fighting one of these, nor do I want to build and fly one..
I do sometimes trick these ships, getting them to fire on me within range of a station or things like that (this is how I almost destroyed a Corvette in my modestly engineered Courier).
Now if I'm battling tough NPCs, then I'll fly my BattleConda or not-even-close-to-godhood Cutter, because NPCs cheat and I just want to melt them away like butter. However, I rarely take these lovely ships into PvP hotspots. I can lose in my Viper III all day long; in fact my rebuy is probably less than the repair bill for scratched paint on a Cutter, LOL.
You caught me.Yes you are.![]()

I wish I had the skill to be cast as a bully, as it now stands, I'm little more than 'fodder'.Seriously, it's not like I'm going around saying, "Wargfoot is a bully in real life who should be on a watch list because he's a threat to society." That is something to get upset about, not my very generic (and quite possibly true) musings.
Umm, you were the one who took a single sentence out of my many paragraphs of text and went on the FA-off flight of faux indignation...Let's keep the conversation focused on actual facts and not wild FA-Off flights of fancy.
Back on topic, that really wasn't my assessment in the post you recently replied to. I'm not a seal. As someone else cleverly stated, it's kinda hard to call what happens at ShinDez "seal clubbing". We're all Elite in something, after all. My point, which I thought was clear, is that I got absolutely zero enjoyment from that PvP engagement, and I feel the wing of gankers actually cheated themselves out of some enjoyable PvP by finishing quick. Where I come from, having a reputation of "finishing quick" without any foreplay is not something one boasts aboutSecond, I agree with your assessment that 'seal clubbing' is silly.
I only asked that the mind-reading stop.Umm, you were the one who took a single sentence out of my many paragraphs of text and went on the FA-off flight of faux indignation...
Pretending to care about their level of enjoyment is not something anyone here is going to buy.Back on topic, that really wasn't my assessment in the post you recently replied to. I'm not a seal. And like any other "blind date" gone bad, I'll just be avoiding this particular group of gankers in the future. They caught me because I let them catch me, thinking perhaps we'd have a fun romp. Their "slam, bam, thank you, ma'am" approach to PvP was just boring and dull, and I'm now one less partner in their already small pool of potential "dates".
I see. Is CQC/Arena mode broke then? When you PvP for a while, you quickly learn your opponents by name. You know what ships their fly, what weapons they use, what manouvers they do and what synergies they have with you in a wing fight. It gets boring to fight always the same people. So looking for new targets is a common thing to do when you want some fresh wind. However, there is no PvP feature that gives us a place to go and people to challenge for a reward. Instead, PvP is spread throughout the whole galaxy and we take whatever we find. Because PvP is not really supported in ED we have to find our very own ways of doing PvP. The results are very variable as we can see.
To put it into simple words: Because we can and there is nothing else PvP related to do.

Now who's mind-reading.... HypocritePretending to care about their level of enjoyment is not something anyone here is going to buy.
You got ganked and then come in here an pretend your real concern is "The other guys probably didn't have fun."
Right.
Comparing PvP in CQC vs PvP in the main game is like comparing a demo to the full game. It's a laugh for sure but doesn't really scratch the itch like the main game does.
....

I didn't claim to mind-read.....

I totally agree. That's why this particular wing of gankers is on my "avoid, don't engage" list. I actually enjoy sneaking through a blockade almost as much as I do "meaningful" PvP.Duck, having read the exchange between you and Warg I think the onus is on you to make your gameplay fun and enjoyable. Gankers gonna gank - how do you want to engage with that? If you just plain don't want to, that's fine of course.
Yes there is. Time to fire up OverwatchHowever, I think there are ways to find the kind of PvP experience you're looking for.
