The sycophantic croberts worshipers in the SC community who think he can do no wrong, walks on water and poops golden eggs do wear on me more from time to time.

Fascinating thread. Thanks for the link.
I get the vibe that some people are trying their hardest to support Star Citizen and its development but are forced to ask the questions and share thoughts that
should ve come from the developers in the first place and are being attacked for it while its THEM who are truly standing behind the project. At the same time it shows the confusion or maybe indecision in the CI-G ranks because while the community flares up and starts to rip into each other they remain silent, dont particpate much and probably will step in once this thread derails heavily at which point another opportunity is lost.
Disagreeing with the designers isnt a bad thing if there are valid reasons for the disagreement. And confusion is mostly born out of vague or unclear statement or not understanding a certain things purpose. Answering these things should be a simple matter but obviously its not. Of course you ll never be able to satisfy everybody. As was stated everybody has a very personal definition of "fun" and the thread shows that some opinions are very much at opposite ends so uniting them will be impossible. This is where a clear developer direction comes in but the companies responsibility is not only to make a decision but to also back it up or explain it. Otherwise people might get the impression that CI-G is making up stuff willy-nilly on the fly without having thought things through.
In his OP Chris wastes a lot of space by simply going scentific or at least trying to sound like it. The mechanics are not important in that detail yet more then half his post describes those mechanics thus bloating up the post, losing readers who might fall asleep and reducing the available space for the "important stuff". In a comparison I dont care WHY Anthems mechas are able to fly or hover, I dont need to understand and follow engineeering topics. Because most importingly
the game doesnt consider them when it implements flying in the first place. What Chris does with his OP is providing lore, not explaining the mechanic or what the design purpose for it is. And when these questions arise they remain unanswered or are challenged for being "counter-productive" and "distracting".
The current implementation of the QT seems to be a direct consequence of the scientific part of the OP but he stated outright that QT is handwavium so why bother with the bad stuff at all? It seems a lot of people seem to have the feeling of being punished or restricted by this design when there really is no good reason for it to be so. Whats the idea of using up more time in the verse or preventing people from instantly teleporting vast distances? These are the things people want to know but those questions remain unanswered.
Its not even CI-G that comes up with "we have a very clear idea of what we want to accomplish but we wont share that until its further along"....no that again falls to the SC-defenders who often wrap it into agressive or accusing replies.
I simply have the impression from Chris OP and how that thread goes that the current QT changes are nothing but a vague idea that nobody knows the goal to. CR obviously doesnt share it clearly enough and as nobody else from the team steps in to clear up the air (so far) theres reason to believe that the developers are as confused as the community. Throwing out ideas to "see where it goes" is a good thing at a very early stage of development and including the community or part of the community would ve been a level of involvement that would ve justified CI-Gs initial claim to have an "open development". But thats not whats happening here. People expect Star Citizen to finally come together. Travel mechanics are expected to be fixed down or at least developed with a purpose.
I dont believe that QT is a finished design with a clear goal. It seems to be a very open, very unstable development trying to find an answer to questions that should ve been done back in 2012.
Its no wonder Chris didnt get any funding from a publisher if those posts are the best he can provide to questions. And while the (not so) private funding has been phenomenal its probably not even a fraction of the money needed to finish this game in a condition that would enable it to become a "good game"....not with the development procedures currently in place and the leadership currently on duty. You can blame and cry about "big bad publishers" all you want but they produce things faster with less money and their marketing strategies are lesser or maybe on par with CI-Gs.
I have lost the vision over Star Citizens "potential" some time ago and the more I learn about its development the more irritated I become. How some people manage to keep their optimism in the face of all this chaos is beyond me. And I m not talking about the folks who "hope" for the best... that I can understand. I m talking about the people who claim that SC will be a success and is doing good despite all the facts to the contrary we know already and who are unable to support their claims with any rational argument.
That RSI thread looks a lot like our thread regarding the points that are brought up. It just has more people blindly believing in SCs success and just a few skeptics asking the tough questions. In our thread its the other way around.
And
@sovapid I m still reading through it so dont mind me if you did and I didnt spot it but did you participate in that thread?
