PvP I've been corrupted *sigh*

I really liked your idea of communicating first. It can't hurt .... and if there is no reply or the reply given was altogether rude, then for heaven's sake blast the peep to smithereens.

Which is exactly what we did, as I said earlier...

As BigM was doing the scans, I was trying to hail him with simple questions about his intent in the system. He didn't respond.

So on the terms you've just given us, our actions were wholly justified.

Thanks for your support, CMDR o7

We won the war we were fighting.
Yes but was it an enjoyable fight .with much chance of any rematch anytime soon.

At a poker table where the desired result is a tangible cash outcome per session, the most profitable two strategies for a pro are positive and amiable in appearance.

For PvP'ers who's actual aim is more frequent and sustained combat then killing people first time you meet them is not usually the most productive tactic.

Sure it's a good laugh but it's short-lived for all parties.

He's new, alone, in a small ship making creeds to move on (hence kws for Rez)
This was out in Colonia. No-one out here is new, by definition. With modern exploration payouts, even getting out here will get you more than enough credits not to need to basic RES work to earn money.

Right, sure, for meaningless PvP - e.g. CQC - then it's a good idea not to stomp the beginners too much, or you run out of targets.

For support of a BGS war - as in this case - the opposition not coming back is an ideal situation. Frontier said that meaningful PvP would be rare - not impossible. If there's something to win, then the considerations are different.

Yeah, I've been doing res work in a vulture for the last couple of days and it's been nothing to do with earning money - it's 'cause I finally bought a vulture (absolutely loving it, by the way) and I'm trying out a frag build for the first time. Haz-res sites are my go-to for "I want to find an anaconda see how long it takes to blast several shades of crap out of it". :D

I remember when I first started looking at bounty hunting, the first thing I saw on day one of owning the game was tips, combat advice and recommended loadouts. The second thing I read (also on day one) was that having a KWS for bounty hunting in open meant you were automatically on the KOS list for pirate player factions. It really doesn't take much research to see that KWS = target on your head in open, so that Vulture pilot should have been expecting trouble.

Do you have to scan a ship to see that they have a KWS?

I agree 100 percent. My point was just about scaring off potential follow ups.
Any suggestion as for valid reasons was unintended.

Just because, is a good enough reason.
It just tends to be one that over the long haul actually nets LESS fighting.

I also think it's very good manners to tell someone that you are about to kill them. That way perhaps, the fight might be more interesting and edifying.

En garde!
Avaunt!
Gesundheit!

To be fair, at the first attack when I interdicted I didn't communicate, because I was a bit high on adrenaline. I can't even remember if Kari went into that instance and communicated, or if that was at the second "attack" at the nav beacon.

But in the end manners doesn't count. I did enough piracy attempts before (with communication! and without shooting at all!) to see that my personal combat to combat logging quote is about 1 to 10. It's so bad I can understand anyone alpha striking the targets hard enough the 15 seconds won't save them.

Adrenaline, hilarious.

Having good manners is not ergonomic when conducting business in this manner.

So you scan someone to make sure they cannot scan you?
LOL@muder hobo logic.

In this case a player with bounties on them would be looking through the modules of another ship to see if one of those modules has the express purpose of revealing bounties on ships. It is still murder, but why else does someone have a KWS but to earn money from killing criminals? It would be fair justification to say the criminal in this situation was attacking before being attacked.

Also, someone wanting to destabilise a controlling faction by reducing the security level of a system is not going to be best pleased when someone else pops up looking like they want to work against them by handing in bounties and supporting the controlling faction.

Neither involve being a murder hobo.

A KWS wouldn't be a threat to you unless you're already sketchy, correct?
YOU. PEOPLE. MAKE. ME. SICK(1)

1: Ya'll have driven off the PvE crowd. I thought I'd step in and help them out for a bit.

This guy understands.

This guy doesn't.

Does anyone in this community understand the value of an appropriate level of controlled, focused violence before considering the negotiating table?

In game, of course. Let's keep the real life stuff out of this. :giggle:

Bit of a loaded question, you imply violence when it would be a waste. Malevolence can be enough ;)

Scale to your opponent. If they are not a threat they are a potential ally, if they are a threat they are a desirable potential ally.
