Aw, you should do - it only takes a few seconds and every report helps FDev build a picture of what to look out for and who to take action against :)
I agree.
I think it is important to report cheaters.

I do have a question about this behavior.
I did combat log once (against an NPC) because my mouse had taken control of the screen away from my throttle.
I'm not sure how that happens but it does on rare occasions.

Anyways, I had to wait to log out which was okay because I'd put enough distance between me and the NPC to survive for 15 seconds (?).
Does that not happen when people combat log, that is, they are still there are vulnerable for 15 seconds before disappearing?

r on reddit or any KOS lists,

If they log out using the menu, they get to wait 15 seconds as you did. It's important to note of course that this is NOT cheating. (Some would have you believe otherwise)
If they use ALT-F4, pull the network cable or some other way to crash the game, they disappear instantly. This very much IS cheating.
Of course, if someone crashes, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference.

You are still taking damage during the 15sec timer and can be destroyed. For most people a clog is a task kill which avoids the 15secs.

I should probably add that using the menu timer to log in combat could be argued to be rather dishonourable conduct, but no more so than seal clubbing or other forms of one sided ganking.

THIS is a totally awesome clarification.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you log out via the menu you can no longer operate your ship?
So if someone disappears while actively fighting then it is probably safe to say that they clogged or were otherwise disconnected.

Interesting.

With the proper engineering and sacrifices High waking works 100% of the time. And since it causes 100% more gnashing of teeth, its my preferred method of escape.
When I get to the point where I'm engineering and playing in Open I'll be hitting you up for advice.
I was all in at "gnashing of teeth".

My preference is that one is an in-game method of solving one's "problems" while the other is an out of game method. Also, not sure what you mean by that--in my experience a PvPer would always prefer his target escape via hi-wake then an mlog which is widely looked at as "soft cheating." Obviously sticking around to the end is the goal, but failing that I mean.

Pretty much yes, given the crash proviso

They don't disappear instantly lolol.

Yeah, if you log out via the menu you have to sit there, in game, not controlling your ship, while the timer counts down. I think pressing escape to go to the menu also zeros your throttle so you come to a stop?

Siobhan made it sound as if you could tell the difference between a clogger and a log out.
I'd like to be able to tell the difference.
The only thing worse than a cheater is accusing someone of cheating when they did not.

Ah sorry, didn't mean to claim it was easy to tell...

I suspect that Siobhan has never seen a clog which is why I chuckled. Why would she have? One of the biggest giveaways when someone clogs is that they remain in place unmoving, not taking damage for quite a while. The player who logs out still takes damage for the duration of the timer.

Isn't there a class of gankers out there that get some kind of twisted thrill out of their victims using "cheat" tactics to escape the rebuy screen? "All he could do was cheat AHAHA". Obviously this does not apply to the noble PvP circles you fly in, Jason Barron, but I encounter some real evil clown face types out there. And those guys HATE-HATE-HATE it when I'm able to high wake out of their cleverly devised clutches.

Okay, this is why I asked - these distinctions are important.
So if the person is frozen in place (unlikely during a battle) and not taking damage then THAT is likely a clog.

Got it.

Why not 'And those gals...'?
The sexism in your posts MAKE. ME. SICK.

Sounds unlikely to me, Krash. Fake news. I fly with some real scumbags and no one that I know would rather that you cheat.
