ANNOUNCEMENT April Update - Coming 23 April 2019

Mediocre compared to what, you?
Get off your high horse man.
No one is mediocre when they're having fun imho.
I've got cruise controll, auto parking, distance assist, adaptive lighting, navigation, abs, stability controll, etc. on my car, does that make me a mediocre driver by your standards, let's see if I care what you think,........nope.
I'm having a lot of fun though, driving my car and playing ED. Oh and I can turn most things off, in my car and in ED.
If you can't park your car without auto parking then you are definitely a mediocre driver and i doubt you even have your license.

If you can't park your car without auto parking then you are definitely a mediocre driver and i doubt you even have your license.

You illustrate the point perfectly:

1. He can park his car without auto-parking. (I deduce this because it's an upmarket car he's got; no-one buys a car like that unless they already have their license; to get a license you have to be able to park).

2. The fact that he has auto-parking and likes it even though he doesn't need it does not inconvenience you in any way.

Similarly, my Cutter is going to be fitted with advanced DC. I don't need it but I feel sure I'll like it. It won't inconvenience anyone else. Anyone who thinks they're a better pilot than me for this reason may be right, but equally may be wrong. I don't care either way and consider their elitist attitude daft.

Why are you adding more to the game when stuff that's already here needs fixing? Progressing is just a large grind atm; frontier keeps fixing different money/navy rank grind spots, but you never combat the reason why we use them in the first place: underpayment. Surely things like this should be tackled first before adding more content?
What grind and what progression is that?

I think the advanced docking computer could take the fun out of trying to get a corvette in and out the slot after too much wine. could save a fortune though

Look at my hands:

That car has cruise control too.

Filthy casuals! I bet they're real nasty people IRL, too!

It's good to know I can count on your support once we start pushing for the full removal of Flight Assist from the game, brother!
Oh yes filthy casuals that instead of playing CASUAL games complain that harder games are too hard, FOR THEM. Every one here had to learn how to leave station.
I played Frontier Elite 2, and I use FAoff on ocasion (for the fun of it) so I would play ED it FAoff were the only way. I admit that FA is useful as it will be the new auto-pilot, but consider this: If instead of an auto it was a module that would add to ship agility and acc/dec times, occuping a slot as normal and no extra slots to put it on that would be a real choice that would help new and older players and at the same time teach them how to fly.

I've updated this to be extremely clear, the beginner systems are only accessible until you earn your first rank in Combat, Exploration or Trade.

Ok but if I am in solo or my own PG from my 2nd account (effectively solo) I won't be able to access those systems? What kind of joke is this?
Why not make new players with harmless, penyless, aimless rank instance only with same ranked players? And with same rank NPCs so that they are not possible to get ganged by elite players and/or NPCs? It's completely absurd to lock off certain systems from old players because of this way of thinking.. This is not real life where there is a kinder-garden and you are not allowing strangers & adults enter it because thay may abuse the children.. It is a virtual world where there are programing tools/ways to protect the newbies from the wolves yet allow the wolves to be in the same meadaw with the lambs but the lambs can be invisible from the wolves. Seriously Frontier if these systems are permit locked from me even in SOLO I will get really p****d and many others along with me: Get ready for a lot of salt Frontier..
So most of these additions are catered towards new players. Fine. What about some QoL improvements for both old and new players aka all players? What about Universal limpet controller? Surface (With Coordinates) bookmarks & ability to share them between players? Gas giants requiring just one prob for mapping, cause ya know: Gas giants don't have a surface ya know.. , Some mission balancing / improvements? , Some guardian tech / xeno lore in-game info as to how to unlock the guardian tech stuff instead of having to search forums & 3rd party sites/ tools? And many others too tired to list them now..

I, for one, am really looking forward to my Asp Explorer getting the much needed extra optional slot

Really, 8 slots are pretty much the minimum for serious long-term expeditions nowadays. Fuel scoop, FSD booster (or, if you don't need that extra range but want extra protection for your ship, shields), 2 AFMUs (so they can repair each other), repair limpet controller for the hull, cargo rack (so you can synthesize limpets), SRV hangar, and of course DSS — can’t fit all of that on AspEx now!

Huh. That's a surprisingly good and simple way to deal with the problem... There would need to be some sort of "explanation" as to why really tough enemies show up when you make rank. Perhaps something like, "Congratulations on your promotion, CMDR. Now be warned - the rest of the galaxy has taken notice of you, and some very dangerous opponents may come to test your skills, so watch your six!"

I often wonder why Frontier always defaults to more complicated solutions to problems when simpler solutions are available to them.

Not disagreeing, but the Avionics Bay could be where the Flight Assist module is installed. An essential module for ship operations. The Avionics Bay in this case would also have empty racks for additional functions.

That makes some sense, but lets keep with the choices consequences vibe and have two slots in avionics and flight assist as one of the module choices and both slots must be utilised to keep in the tradition of having all core modules being required.

There are people out there who would hate you for not driving with manual shifter. The discussion here was always driven by this kind of people. Fortunately, Frontier figured that while loud, this special kind of people don't make them money and after all these years they plan to do something that makes sense.

I suspect limiting access to systems by rank would be less complicated than altering instancing by rank in select systems.
